Before you share your first post here, please familiarize yourself with this subreddit’s rules. Rule #1 is especially important: this subreddit DOES NOT serve as an alternative to the kind of medical care and advice your budgie can only get from an avian vet. If you have a budgie medical question or concern, talk to your avian vet instead of posting here! Also, be sure to read this subreddit's wiki--odds are very good that your question has an answer in one of the wiki articles! (We usually remove posts that ask about something that's answered somewhere in the wiki to keep the clutter to minimum here.)
Also remember this is a pet budgie subreddit that encourages rescue and adoption and strongly discourages breeding.
This is a place to share cute budgie pictures, videos, and stories, but it’s also a place to learn more about budgies. There are many times when someone will post a picture, video, or description, and you might notice something that isn’t best practice for good budgie ownership. It might be a cage that’s getting dirty, or some overgrown toenails, or something like that. Even if that issue isn’t the main reason for the post, please bring that to the attention of the original poster (OP) in a supportive and constructive manner so OP can be made aware of a better way of doing things.
Likewise, OP might consider proactively addressing things in their post that a typical budgie owner might be concerned with if they don’t know all the facts. It might be something as simple as, “Don’t worry, this was before I cleaned their cage” or “I’m taking them to the vet next week for their nail trim.”
This is a great way to share information from the Wiki in a very effortless manner, and you are all invited to do so! We used to have just a few summons, but the list has grown enough that we compiled it in this part of the wiki. You should check it out!

Some rules:
We encourage you to share pictures! Just make sure they are accurate to the situation and don't break the rules in the sidebar.
Remember: this subreddit is just one of many possible places to make a budgie connection. Also consider FaceBook, Craigslist, Nextdoor, other online communities, as well as real-life bulletin boards in public places. See all the previous weekly posts (that have content) by clicking here.
Our wiki also has a list of parrot rescues you could check out - whether you're looking to adopt a new feathered friend, or have to surrender one due to life circumstances. If one of these rescues is near you, please consider reaching out to them!

My sweet girlie. You fought so hard and were recovering so well. Unfortunately it was just too much for your little body to handle. Boba and I will miss you so much. Say hi to Kiwi bird and continue to be your sassy self. Love, mommy 💓

Clyde(and my other boy Baby) is taking antibiotics! My vet said i can put it on a treat if i wanted, But i want to give them a direct shot down their little beaks.. So i know for sure its in their bodies helping them get better!.. even if they're crabby at me for it.
Anyways i made it dark so i could scoop em up easy, and Clyde slipped away and dropped his tail feathers! Sorry Clyde!!!! Finish your molt scruffy and grow them tail feathers back.

I think my girly here has a pretty unique colour and was wondering if anyone here has a burb with similar colours.
If you have a budgie that looks similar, please share a picture of them in the comments. Winner gets a lemon!

They are brother and sister I think, they always fight eachother over food and the girl (blue) never lets him eat while it’s in the container in the cage every time he goes to eat she runs over and bites him, there not the play full like budgie they never want to leave the cage and when they do they never ever jump on my hand without food I don’t get it.

Hey everyone!
Just wanted some second opinions for my baby. His name is Pickle and he’s 9 months, and I’ve noticed pin feathers for the past few weeks- but I noticed there’s a bit of a bald spot on his head a few days ago. The first photo is a before, and the second is the bald spot in question.
His activity levels are the same (very energetic, of course) and he’s getting along with his cagemates just fine. I’ve also ruled out plucking since it’s on top of his head. I’ve just never seen budgies be a bit bald while molting, is it normal?

So yesterday me and my friend were hanging out for my birthday and he wanted to get a baby budgie for himself but despite searching every pet shop we found nothing that caught his eyes so as a last resort we decided to check the local petstore that I frequently visit to shop for my birds , cats and rabbits. They said they only have a breeding pair that were not for sale along with a disabled budgie but my friend said no and we left without seeing the budgies. This morning I was looking through my gallery and I saw Timon's pictures and even cried a bit cause I missed him then my thoughts came to the budgie that our local petstore had so I decided to check it out at night. I did not know the budgie's age , sex as I hadn't seen it but decided to buy it in honor of Timon. I went there and asked them if they still had the special needs budgie and they said yes so I asked the price but they said since I'm one of their regular costumers and since no one else wanted the budgie I could take it for free. I went to pick the budgie and saw this cute baby budgie who couldn't be more that a month old in a small dirty cage close to the cage of the breeding pair ( most likely the parents ) and I couldn't let him stay there any longer so I put him in a box and took him home. He's currently sleeping all snuggly in my hands and I'm absolutely smitten by him. He's such a calm sweet little baby! I named him Pumba as a small tribute to my lovely Timon and since this baby is also special needs like him I definitely need to make his enclosure as comfortable as possible for him.

Hello everyone,
My budgie is already 9.5 years old. How old was your oldest? How long can they usually live and what to do to make sure they reach maximum

Millet works. But it's taking less and less time for them to relax when I approach. The next thing for me is to talk, sing, hum and generally make normal noise instead of pretending im just a tree go about your business.
