I recently adopted a 4-month-old kitten named Kiro, born on 6 June 2026, and I'm so happy to finally have my very first cat!
According to his previous owner, Kiro is a mixed-breed cat, and his mom is supposedly somewhat related to a Persian traits.
I understand that without a pedigree, he'd generally be considered a Domestic Shorthair or Domestic Longhair rather than a specific breed. I'm not trying to identify his breed definitively, but I'm curious about which traits he might have inherited from his parents side
I'd love to hear your thoughts and learn more about him!
I've ordered a water fountain for him to drink, which should be arriving soon! For food, I'm currently mixing Me-O Ocean Fish wet food with Kitchen Flavor kibble and Royal Canin for kitten. I'm still learning as a first-time cat parent, so I'd also appreciate any advice on his diet, hydration, or anything else I should prepare for a growing kitten.
Thanks, everyone! ❤️🐾

I hope that's the right flair; sorry if not.
This is what my Lola looked like in June. It's October and now her right eye may have to be removed as it's bulging and leaking. [I don't need medical advice as we've been to the vet multiple times and are going to an ophthalmologist tomorrow afternoon. She's on meds and they seem to be helping.] Today, they confirmed she has hyperthyroidism, but that's "common" for older cats. So more meds.
I got her in 2013 when I loved in S.Korea and brought her back to the States because she's my lil heartbeat. I've tried to give her as comfortable and peaceful a life as I can. I'm also trying to find a silver lining in acknowledging that I got my sht together to where we can even actually go to the vet, see a specialist, and afford care so if there's pain, I can get her some relief.
But I feel like I've failed her. I think I'm looking for comfort from some other Cat People who could really understand the bond. 16 is about the average of my cats and she's not too far off (15 in December) but I dunno man... It never feels like enough time. To her credit, she's still demanding treats and acting normally. She's sleeping and purring next to me right now.
Hug your kitties for me. And share pics maybe.

5,800 days together.
The hardest, most gut wrenching decision of my life to say goodbye to her. She took her last breath around 12:20, wrapped in a robe I’ve had since I brought her home 15 years ago.
She was sick this entire year. Possible tumor or nasal polyps, both of which I wasn’t willing to investigate due to her age and small weight. The last 10 months have been up and down. We’d do a round of antibiotics and she’d improve. Then go downhill all over again. Her entire right side of her face was snotty and sneezing and quite miserable. She’d been breathing out of the side of her mouth for a while and despite the “good” days, ultimately I couldn’t let her suffer any longer. We had a lot of good days, a ton of great years.
She was the easiest cat. Part Siamese and it showed- she was sassy. She was the definition of a lap cat. If you had a lap, she was in it. She was beautiful and picky, but boy was she easy.
I’ve cried enough tears to fill a river but I want to note the relief I felt after saying goodbye, knowing she wasn’t going to suffer or experience any more pain. I will mourn her every day until my last, but I am so fortunate to have had her.
Thinking of all who have been down this journey. It’s my first and won’t be my last. My heart is broken.

She’s been purring all day, rubbing against everything, licking herself and she’s been walking with her belly almost on the floor. Caught most of it in this clip. Found her outside, think she’s about 5mo.
I know it’s likely heat and this is probably a stupid question for you experienced cat servants but I’m just learning and want to be sure. Please let me know if I should be concerned!

Tasty Lamp and Silly Kitties
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
EXPERIMENT #1: IS IT THIRST?
Method: Exposing kittens to clean and slightly cooled water.
Results: Kittens still don’t understand it, and after several attempts of licking it lost any interest and waddled away.
They just start licking the lamp from time to time, all together at the same time, can anyone explain why? 😅

Tapeworm (white) and margaret (black and white.) They're turning a year old soon, and they've gotten so big, but they haven't changed much. I found them in my yard at eight weeks old. When I first took them in and they were still skittish, they would sprint and hide in corners whenever I entered the bathroom, where i'd set up a temporary living space. If they were in separate corners, margaret would scream, and tapeworm would immediately come running for her, even if he was scared of my presence. It's been nearly a year now, and they're still practically glued together.

We started a nebulizer treatment and he’s doing very well. He didn’t like the noise the first time but he got to eat wet food in there so he couldn’t be bothered by the machines noise. When he finishes eating he sits by the ”entrance” very calmly and purrs for the remaining time that the machines needs to be on. When I open the door for him he doesn’t get out immediately but sits there and purrs for a while (machine is off). The only thing that makes me question if it’s out of enjoyment is his pupils, they are huge! What do y’all think? Is he purring out of enjoyment or trying to calm himself down?
