Meta Buy/Sell/Trade Thread: October 2026
Weekly Questions Thread can be found here
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!
Please start your comment with your location as such: [UK and EU] or [USA, California] on a separate line.
Thank you!
Import regulations mean it is difficult to send plant material between certain countries.
Check for hard frosts overnight before posting your parcel!
Scammers will not be tolerated! If you have sent a plant and not heard from your sender, message the mods and we will take care of it. Anyone found to be scamming will be banned from the sub.
A few points:
- Please add your location. Many countries will have import restrictions. As a simple guide, within EU, okay. Within US, okay. EU to US or vice versa, not okay. Australia: complicated.
- Please try to keep the sales/trades to succulents. There is a list of sister subreddits in the sidebar should you want other plants.
- Think about trading seeds and pollen too. Growing from seed can be very rewarding and be a good way to expand your collection.
- Grow tips are highly encouraged when trading. Its nice to know what you're getting if you have never grown one before. Share your potting mediums and watering guides to help your receiver grow successfully!
- Do show us some photos of what you got!
- Have a quick check to see if there is a risk of frost overnight before sending the parcel.
- There are some tips of packaging succulents for shipping below. I've had people send me plants in egg cartons before. They work really well.
- If you have nothing to trade but would like some plants, people are often happy to send you plants for money or just the cost of postage and packaging.
Happy swapping!
You can find some tips for packaging succulents in the wiki
All Sales and Trades are to be done at your own risk. The moderators of the Succulent sub are not responsible for your transactions. This thread is only a means for discovery and contact.
But, please, if you get scammed or ripped off, report the offending user to the mods via modmail.

Let’s not be jerky little immature folks, okay?
We’ve had a few…incidents lately. So, let’s just cover something again: Rule 1: Be Nice. This is a plant sub, and I’m shocked at the amount of drama that occurs on a regular basis here. The attitudes get crazy. You should always be mindful to how you speak to people; you may have an answer to correct a potential issue, or help others, but there is always a right way and a wrong way to say things.
- There is never any need for childish mocking, name calling, or harassment.
- We don’t gatekeep, and we don’t shame. Let us not try not tell others that what they’re doing is wrong, and only what you do is right or better.
- Only help if it’s asked for, or if the tone of the OP seems willing to listen. If you wish to gently suggest constructive criticism, but the OP rejects it, please accept and move on.
The sub is mostly made up of home hobbyists, of all levels. From absolute beginners, to experts, and everything in between. And, thus, we also have a huge variety care needs and habits, climates and environments. We love it when professionals, or growers with many many years of experience come on and share input, advice, and of course their plants! We do not love it when people take their experience too seriously, and bully others for doing things their own way.
We also have to remember, not every person may be as passionate about their plants as others are. “We listen, and don’t judge.” Someone has a terrarium doomed to fail, but they wanna do it anyways? Let them. Someone has a packed arrangement in sand, because that’s what they want? Cool, move on. That sun starved etiolated plant at OP’s desk makes them happy despite suggestions to make it healthier? Don’t harsh their buzz. Let’s all do better about being a welcoming subreddit for both beginners and veterans of the hobby.
Once again, I know many of us really want everyone to have the healthiest, “happiest” plant(s) around. And it’s fine to offer suggestions to better someone’s care. But if the OP ignores or passes on suggestions, please just accept and move on.
If you are ever harassed via chat, or in another sub by anyone, please don’t hesitate to report them to the admins, but also please send us a modmail regarding that user. This also applies if someone follows you to our sub from elsewhere, report the comment or send us a modmail. We may ask for screenshots to be sure of the situation. We don’t ban users willy-nilly, but harassment will never be accepted.
And for anyone who breaks these rules, and gets themselves a ban, when you rage at us in modmail it doesn’t hurt our feelings because we are adults. Sorry you’re unable to be an adult about things. But then again, people who bully others on the internet lack some maturity to really be classified as adults. ♥️

Photo This is my paddle plant. It's about6 years old. I keep it alive with grow light during the New Jersey winter then it goes outside the summer. This is the 1st time I've ever had a flower stalk. I'm so curious to see what the flowers look like.

Help Should I repot?
The plant never really grew in height but got pretty wide, there’s new growth on the bottom with little room.
I want to say it’s in a 12” pot

Plant Progress/Props Succulent Lovin
Did the echeveria etiolate in the past? Probably. Do I love its quirky palm shape and health progress of it, and all my other succulents? Definitely.
These are my first baby succulents and love how they are growing in these Mario planters. Don’t worry, I’ve drilled holes in the bottom for drainage.

Plant Progress/Props Pachyphytum Oviferum September 2026 vs Oktober 2024 ❤️
Dieses Pachyphytum habe ich geköpft. In der Schale heute sind die wieder bewachsenen Stämme, die Köpfe und neue Babys über Blätter. ☺️

Photo Guess what? Another bug species here to meet
So I posted a video of my Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus, who looks like mealy bug cactus.
And I’m here to share with you another bug species, Pelecyphora aselliformis. It’s fascinating that they are not even from the same family, however they look like cousin tome. Both from Mexico. This one here looks a lot like pill bug.
I personally fall in love more with Pelecyphora aselliformis, the one in this post.
Mine is rather small, I can’t wait to see them getting bigger.
Also I put two photos of them, so you could see the differences here. Actually the differences between bugs🤣

Plant Progress/Props Watering this morning and spotted something interesting!
Already two pups and suddenly a late bloomer! Going to have to think about a new pot sooner than I thought lol (other pics because I wanna show them off)

Photo Tri-head E. Obesa
Excited to see how this one will grow! The 3 alternating sizes of each head (there's a small pup in the middle) makes this so aesthetically pleasing to me.

Identification Are these Pachypodium the same species?
These two plants are around the same age and have received the same care. Plant A has always gotten about half the amount of direct sunlight because of its location next to a hedge. Some differences that I can see are plant A is softer looking, shinier, and has less densely packed spines. The leaves of plant A also seem turn downward at the ends as well as maintain a lighter green appearance year round. Plant B also grows lots of two-spine clusters while A grows a solid three every time. Finally, Plant B looks gray/stony out while A is brown/green & fleshy. Just wondering if these are different species (and if so, which?) or if their visual differences might be due to sunlight hours.

Help Too much pumice stone?
I was going for a 50/50 mix but the soil appears dry 1 day after watering. My cuttings havent been watered yet.
Should I add more soil and repot the rooted plants and the cuttings?

Photo left my kalanchoes on a balcony in chicago all summer and fall …
And they LOVED it! An incredibly rainy summer, tornados, and wildfire smoke and these guys are super happy. They look like actual bushes. First picture is from February 2026 and second is from October 2026.
Excited to see them bloom as days get shorter.
