Discussion Does anyone else experience 'fatigue' as an anxiety symptom?

Hello!

I was reflecting on my past experiences and i realized something that has kept me away from sports for a long time is this kind of "fatigue" i assume anxiety gives me. Mind you, i do know fatigue is an anxiety symptom but im reffering to something a little different

It was like, even though i didnt feel tired at the moment the excercise was proposed to me, i just got this overwhelming feeling that doing sports would be way too tiring for me at that moment, kind of a visceral feeling more than an conscious thought that kept me away from any kind of strenous activity not only sports.

Health My health anxiety is driving me crazy !!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been experiencing changes in my bowel habits, frequent bowel movements, bloating, nausea, dizziness, and loss of appetite.

I’m terrified that something is seriously wrong with me. I keep worrying about colon cancer, stomach problems, or even pancreatic cancer.

I can’t stop searching for symptoms and reading Reddit posts and Google medical articles online. I always end up finding the worst-case scenarios, which makes my anxiety even worse.

I want to get checked, but I’m terrified of receiving bad news. I feel mentally exhausted and don’t know how to stop this endless cycle of fear.

so, I'm afraid of death. I've been in a terrible condition lately, I keep thinking about it and I can't calm down. in addition to all this, I have found serious symptoms and may have cancer (I will undergo an examination soon). I'm going crazy with all this stuff. I realized that there is literally danger everywhere and often you can't do anything about it. it all makes me very upset and tired. I wish I could stop being afraid of everything, but it's impossible

Family/Relationship Anxiety from your body trying to tell you something

Hi all,

Has anyone ever had their anxiety flare up because your body is trying to tell you something is wrong?

Over the last 5 months my anxiety has gotten so bad I can no longer drive or attend work or leave the house cause I'm so scared of dying and the physical symptoms are bad, every little sensation I have makes me panic and think I’m dying. The last like week-ish I’ve had no appetite or will to drink or do anything other than just lay in bed. I feel like I’ve fallen into some sort of anxious depression episode. I honestly feel like this stems down to my relationship. I have absolutely zero libido, we haven’t had sex in months and every time he tries to initiate some sort of contact, I get irritated and push him away. He’s been FIFO for four years and I feel like I have this deep resentment for him because I have underlying abandonment issues from childhood trauma. And I feel like my patience with him always being away is just running out. I love him but at the same time the relationship isn’t what it used to be.

Anyway, without rambling on too much, have you ever had this sort of thing happen to you where your anxiety has gotten so bad because it’s your body trying to tell you that you need to change something in your life? Even if the anxiety is about dying?

Advice Needed Constant anxiety 24/7

Hey everyone, first post here. I've been dealing with major anxiety since I was 16 in high school due to lots of bullying. Both mental and physical. I'm 28 now. I am always super scared to talk to people, go places with people I don't know, trying new things, ect. I constantly worry about people judging me and bullying me. I always tend to think negative too because of that. It's pretty much taken over my life. I lost 2 opportunities for great paying jobs because of this as well as many other things. I've tried meds and years of therapy/ counseling with little to no help. Every day when I wake up I get nervous to even go to the job I've been at for 8 years and I know everyone there. I'm lost on anything I can do. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Needs A Hug/Support I am having an awful time functioning and I need help

I am a teacher and private tutor at a community college. I've been having panic attacks at work intermittently for about a year now. I went nonresponsive and almost went to the hospital.

Here is all the low-hanging fruit.

  1. I am on HRT + wellbutrin + naltrexone + guanfacine. I do not ever miss my meds.
  2. I see a therapist. We're doing EMDR. It is so hard for me to face the things we do it with, even when it's just "follow the lights". I want to tear my psyche in two so I don't have to ever think about those things again. My body and brain physically recoil.
  3. I exercise quite a lot. One of the things that is causing me anxiety, in fact, is the idea that I'll never reach my very modest athletic goals because something terrible will happen and rip away my life.
  4. I keep coffee way down. You'll pry it from my cold dead hands.
  5. I sleep pretty well except when hampered by having anxiety attacks.
  6. I don't have the best financial cushion but I'm socking a good portion of my pay away. It's been a rough year and we're only now just building up emergency funds.

I have a hard time doing anything most days. I get to work and I can sort of function on autopilot, but I feel as though I must take on more responsibility to stay relevant and useful and so on and I simply cannot do that right now with the state of my mental health. I have spoken to my direct report several times this year. Other than calling out of work sometimes because of panic attacks, he says I have nothing to worry about, implies that I am one of the people who keep my workplace running smoothly, will go to bat for me if anything did happen, etc. etc.

I just need assurance all the time that I'm doing all the right things and if I can just focus on doing those each day then my life will be relatively okay and I can persevere. I am afraid that the metaphysical equivalent of a car crash will happen to me any day now and there's nothing I can do to prevent it. It's awful.

i have severe depression and anxiety and am medicated. i have my anxiety and depression mostly under control... but recently, work and life has just been getting so stressful. i never feel like im doing enough at work even though im giving it my all, i go home and sleep after work because i dont have any energy left. i am falling into a bad cycle and my anxiety is just through the roof. i take tylenol pms to help relax me and it genuinely does help... but its a horrible habit and it's upsetting my stomach but i genuinely dont know how to relax or just feel okay. every day im worried about going to work. it's silly but i worry that ill get sick at work, or have a panic attack at work. it's an extremely high stress job and last week i did have a panic attack and couldn't walk away from it and just had to continue working. i cant really talk to my manager about this, he doesnt understand. if anyone has any advice for anything i mentioned, please let me know. thanks.

Health I've had the most awful anxiety for the past month

Hi all! My name is Bryce, I've had the most horid anxiety this month. It's been just constant chest pain, chills, arm pain/soreness cold sweats, hot flashes, I haven't been sleeping well at all, it's been hard to be honest and quite scary at times but I've learned to deal with it, I've had anxiety for the past 6 years and it always still scares me to some degree, it's always gonna suck but I somehow still manage it some days are worse then others some days I don't even wanna get out of bed but I try my best to still get through it, my anxiety was so bad that I called 911 twice in the same month, they did a whole bunch of tests on me the first time and they said I was healthy, it will definitely always be scary to me but I've gotten much better then I was years ago, I was throwing up because of how anxious I was, I always believe in myself but it gets really hard too when anxiety keeps beating my ass down hard, I just want people to know it does get better it might take a long while but progress takes time there's no pill on the earth that can make it completely go away it will always linger untill you start fighting back,

Discussion Doctors using AI in sessions?

Hi guys! I just wanted to ask if anyone else has gone through this?

Because of my anxiety and panic disorder, I have to see multiple different people for different things to deal with. Today, I met with a person who started off the session by telling me she was going to be using some sort of AI-program (for what I’m assuming is note-taking because my mind went blurry after she mentioned it)

Is this new in the medical industry? What exactly does it help with? I go through a lot of really dangerous things at the moment, hence the heightened anxiety, and I’m not sure how it helps store my information or what exactly it does? Does anyone know?

DAE Questions Does anyone else’s skin get extremely hot?

Hey everyone. I’ve been experiencing this sensation for about a month now. It’s on and off, but I’m wondering if maybe it’s stress and adrenaline related. I went through a period of very bad anxiety for about 4 months straight. Some of the worst I’ve ever had. I’m 30f for reference. Anyway. My skin is very hot. Like to the point where I was afraid of fever. I don’t have one and I otherwise feel normal but I am like a furnace on the outside..

Family/Relationship Anxiety surrounding new relationship.

I started dating him at the beginning of the month. We have been on 7 dates at this point? I like him SO much and its really scary. To the point where everytime I think about it its making me panic a little. I don't have a lot of experience dating (most have been LDR) and I definitely am not used to this kind of relationship. He is sweet and kind, he listens and he is unbelievably patient with me, anytime I'm worrying about something he eases my mind. We get each other in a way thats so new for me. Its so calm and easy when we are together. He's funny and interesting.

The problem is I'm so used to the unhealthy co-dependent relationships I've been in before now, the constant reassurance. I didn't realize til now that I am most definitely anxious attachment style. My last relationship was over two years ago so I've been single for so long its not something I've thought about in this context til now.

He has literally said so many times how much he likes me and he has even said he is falling for me. But my brain wants to read into EVERYTHING. If I don't get a goodnight text I'm like "he hates me". It is NOT his responsibility to reassure me and make me feel better about this, the two times we've talked about it were because he could see right through me and knew I was stressing about something.

It feels like I'm doing battle in my brain, one side knows that in reality everything is fine and he DOES like me and shows me continuously that he does. But the other is freaking out and panicking. I had to skip therapy last week so that might be contributing to my spiraling because I didn't get to talk it through with my therapist (I have a session this week thankfully).

I don't really know what I wanted from this post I think I just needed to get my thoughts out. Its hard working through trauma and the systems I've built to keep myself safe. Especially in a situation where I know I am so safe and well taken care of with him. It's like a smoke detector going off 24/7 when there is no fire.

Advice Needed Anxiety nausea and emetophobia

• Upvotes

I have a hospital appointment this morning and my health anxiety is through the roof because I hate hospitals. I feel really nauseous, keep gagging and my mouth keeps watering like I’m going to be sick. I also have emetophobia, so it’s making my anxiety even worse.

Does anyone have any tips for calming the nausea and gagging?

Discussion What has helped you genuinely heal or improve from chronic anxiety?

Medication was a great quick fix for me, until i developed tolerance to SSRIs. Now on a low dose of a TCA and gabapentin, but looking for other ways to genuinely improve my anxiety as medication poop out is always a fear of mine. Also have klonopin available but i try to avoid daily use.

Just interested in hearing people’s thoughts on what really helped them. Ive tried meds, CBT, DBT hypnotherapy, somatic work, etc. Currently doing talk therapy and doing meditations with my therapist each week.

I had to take a break from work due to health reasons and that improved my anxiety a lot but nonetheless , it has returned and im once again struggling with physical anxiety.

Looking to hear any tips! give me your most random, funny, helpful techniques for living with anxiety. Sending hugs, its rough out here 🫂

Medication Feeling Normal?

Maybe this is a weird thing to post, but it's been on my mind a lot recently. I started taking zoloft about 3 weeks ago, I think 25 mg, and the only way I can describe how I feel is normal. But it's a conflicting feeling, because I also felt normal before medication. I honestly didn't feel like anything was truly wrong with me even after I was diagnosed. Ig I was just curious if anyone else felt similar after they started medication?

Editing this because I'm worried Im using the wrong sub/flair. If so I'm so sorry 🫠 this is the first time I've ever felt comfortable enough to post in a sub so Im not familiar.

Advice Needed Started meds! Just a little worried about side effects if they even are side effects?

Hello! I recently posted about being so scared to try meds but I was in such a deep depression and fight or flight mode for a long time and basically said fuck we ball. I went to the doctors and I was very embarrassed because I was super open with my doctor and I sobbed just saying I can’t believe how bad my anxiety is and how bad it effects my daily life. I was prescribed busbar and Zoloft. Busbar is for the weeks of taking Zoloft and waiting for it to kick in because I mentioned to her that I was super worried that’s I’d have bad side effects and get off the meds and never take them again, Zoloft I’m still waiting for it to kick in but so far I’m 5 days into taking meds and I think these are side effects I’m having? At the start of taking both I got sleepy and I would take a nap but would wake myself up being kinda shaky? Now I’m getting sweats. And yesterday night I had a small anxiety wave come over me about taking sleeping aid. But it wasn’t as bad as my anxiety attacks usually are. It came and went instead of lingering for weeks on end. It happened again tonight and I figured I should make a post and see if anyone else if having this? Any advice would be great!

Health PLS HELP! Anxiety+ Disassociation + Health

Hello everyone. I am a 20F and I have been experiencing the same symptoms for over a year now. I really don't get it because it went away and now its back again. So back story I got sick with come viral infection last year June 2025. After that experience I felt like my health physically and mentally went downhill. I went to the ER because my body felt all numb and cold all over and my heart would go crazy. All of these symptoms just to find out that I am completely ok. I did go to a PCP and they diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I use to be an avid gym goer and I lokey stopped it because of this. I had nothing wrong with my life. Life was great, I was in college and doing what I needed to and what I wanted. However, Fall 2025 was genuinely one of the worst experiences of my life. I mentally never felt so horrible ever. I would wake up and my body would just shake and I would have horrible thoughts that I never would thought to have. I would wake up and gag and I didnt eat well. Some days were good, but a good chunk I just felt horrible. I felt emotionless because I could not feel and could not cry at all. I would try to force myself to cry so I could feel something. My head would hurt and I would just sleep and feel horrible. I did manage to get through a little with the help of my spiritual journey and amazing loved ones. However, it was still hard some days. THen, when I came back home for winter break it died down a little. I could feel emotions and I didn't feel numb as much. (I use to feel like a numb feeling and my body would get cold). Anyways, January 2026 came and I felt very good. I was so happy that this seemed to be past me. I felt amazing but sometimes I would disassociate but not as much as I used to. Anyways, summer came of 2026 and I got travelers diarrehea. I went to the ER again cus I think I panicked. I also was stressed because of the hospital bill and my parents were on me about it saying its all in my head and just not so good things. I felt horrible. So I went to therapy. It helped a little bit, but I was still actively disassociating but it was not as bad as before. Anyways, college started again in Fall of 2026 and I was fine and honestly felt amazing. However, I do have heavy classes this semester but I am fine. Some days especially near my period I feel that numb feeling again. I will get up and my heart would race so bad that I feel numb and weak. I am conscious but it just hurts to move around like mentally. I would still have flare ups but nothing crazy. However, this past week I have been actively going to seek medical help. I have a PCP and got bloodwork and everything came back totally ok. I also got referred to a cardiologist since I had those heart palpitations. I went to the cardiologist and EKG and things came back fine. I did report to them like just uncomfortable chest discomfort. I also have breathing problems where its like Im trying to breathe in more air at some times. I would feel a little dizzy but nothing crazy. I just correlated all these issues with stress or anxiety ( I never been diagnosed with it). Im planning to get a monitor, echogram, and stress test done to see if my heart has anything to do with my issues. Anyways, this past weekend I went home and had one of the worst disassociation episodes ever. I was so uncomfortable and could barely sleep. My stomach was giving me issues and I thought it was probably something I drank. My throat was scratchy and just felt like closed up. I felt SOOOO numb and cold. It was so bad I would get dizzy when I get up to walk and couldnt go farther. I gagged but I dont feel like imma throw up. I REALLY NEED HELP! i really dont know why it came back and it sucks! I hated it because I know im fine as far as my bloodwork and most likely heart aspects of things. But, I am just wondering why this is just coming back again in waves. I really hate it and it hurts so bad mentally it hurts so bad. So, I dont know if it hormones related (it doesnt happened all the time) or like its all mental stress issues or if there is a physically underlying aspect of things. I have my PCP appointment again this week so Idk if I should get referred to a physciatrist or someone cus I dont know if its mental. But sometimes but gut area like stomach feels off and its hot and warm and causes my heart to race so I really dont know. I made a post last year about this same issue, but I just hate how it came back again that I need to do it again. Thank you guys! Pls any ideas or tips! Any doctors in the chat pls! I am college student and cant afford alot of medical help. I just would hate the fact thats its all in my head and I spending money for no reason. For mental aspects I kind of scared to go on meds, but if that helps then I guess I ll do it. Also, I dont know if also being a young woman has something to do with anything in the sense of my hormones. So pls! Any tips!

Advice Needed Negative side-effects on Buspirone, considering stopping and I need advice

I've been on 7.5 mg of Buspirone since 2024, originally given to me for generalized anxiety disorder. Since then I consistently experience brain fog, confusion, and dizziness whenever I take my dose of it. The dizziness is so bad that I've felt nauseous because of it. I ended up getting my refill late this time, so I've been off of buspirone for a week at this point and as far as I can tell, I don't feel any different. I'm just as anxious as I am when I do take it.

I understand that what I'm about to ask is a question I should ask a therapist, not reddit. I'm in the process of trying to get set up with a new one since the old one quit. Given how I know it affects me, should I continue taking it, or am I better off just not taking it?

Advice Needed Tips for managing GAD

So I’ve been diagnosed with GAD since last October and this is my first time posting here and I was just wondering, how do you guys deal with the anxiety that you have? My GAD has been manageable for me honestly until March when I had to move to a different country and since then it’s hard to manage. I try to avoid any situation that would spike up my anxiety even if it’s a situation that might be important for me to be a part of. I tend to feel like I’m being watched 24/7 and feels like I’m constantly worried about like 10 different things. So would be really helpful if you guys had any tips to share, thanks!

Advice Needed Waking up with doom/dread

Hi all,

As the title suggests, whenever I wake up these days I almost always have a sense of dread, this sickly feeling in my chest/stomach that something bad is happening or about to happen. Coupled with some anxiety of course. I find it really debilitating and it always makes the start of my day pretty crap.

I like to understand why I feel the things I feel, and I can't work this one out. It's like it's automatic.

Anyone have any ideas why I get this and, more importantly, anything I can do to combat it?

So far I've found just trying to ignore the feeling and get up and start doing things to be the best course of action.

Discussion Getting a haircut is anxiety overload for me, about that time again.

So i dont hate having my haircut i hate the whole situation of getting a haircut. The whole 15mins is anxiety depression overload, its bad enough that I have missing teeth but on top of that have to disclose the bumps on my head whenever I go to new hair salon barber shop.

So I cant have short hair without the bumps be showing in the back of head. I can do medium but I hate hair infront of my face. Haven't found the style i really like so when they start the process im always thinking to myself "did i pick the right one, oh no what they doing, doing look at the mirror"

Growing up i almost always had my dad cut my hair just a quick shave but having to go into places I hate now.
