iPhone The iPhone Duo reviews just made me cancel my order

Now that iPhone Duo reviews are all over YouTube, I spent well over an hour watching different ones and decided this isn’t the right time to buy it. It’s better to just wait for the second generation—and yes, sources have already confirmed a gen two is coming next year.

App support is going to take a while. Maybe not for the huge tech companies, but for the rest of the everyday apps I actually use. Dealing with black bars on the sides when apps are open? I honestly can’t accept that.

The cameras are bad. Really bad, just like everyone said—pretty much on par with the iPhone 17e, especially in low light. I obviously wasn't expecting Pro-level cameras, but at least make them decent. It depends on your use case, but for me, that’s a dealbreaker.

I’m writing this on my M4 iPad Pro while multitasking—half the screen is YouTube, the other half is Reddit.Honestly, I don’t know where the Duo would even fit into my routine.

And no Face ID? Watching reviewers stretch their fingers all over the phone—from the volume buttons to the camera control and back down to the Touch ID sensor—just made me realize how badly I’d miss Face ID.

At the end of the day, maybe none of this would matter as much if the phone didn't cost me $3,000 for the 512GB model. I live outside the US, so the Duo is crazy expensive in international markets.

Don't get me wrong, I’m a huge nerd and I own basically everything in the Apple ecosystem—iPad Pro, 18 Pro,Mac, Apple TV, HomePods, you name it. But man, this one just doesn't feel right.

Shoutout to all the YouTube reviewers for keeping it real. This is probably the first time reviews convinced me to cancel an order instead of buying one.

iPhone Should I buy the iPhone 17 Pro now or wait for the iPhone 18 Pro?

I'm currently using a regular iPhone 13 (128GB) that I've had since launch, so it's been about 5 years.

The battery health is now down to 70%, and the storage has become a major problem. I'm constantly deleting photos and videos just to free up space. My phone still works, but it's definitely showing its age.

I usually keep my phones for around 5 years, so I'm planning to get the 1TB model this time.

The only thing holding me back is the iPhone 18 Pro. I've seen rumors that it could be around $200 more expensive than the current Pro models. If that's true, I'm wondering whether it's actually worth paying the extra money and waiting another 3 months, or if I should just buy the iPhone 17 Pro 1TB now and keep it for the next 5 years.

What would you do if you were in my position?

Edit:

I finally decided to go with the iPhone 17 Pro. I bought it brand new at a great discounted price, the 1TB version for only $1,099.

I don’t think waiting for the iPhone 18 Pro would have been worth it for me. Everyone already knows that the iPhone 18 Pro will be much more expensive. The 256GB model is expected to start around $1,499, and the 1TB version could reach around $2,000. With only around a 5% improvement in specs, I don’t think paying hundreds of dollars more makes sense.

Also, my iPhone 13 battery health is at 70%, so it didn’t make sense for me to spend $120 on a battery replacement, pay $5 for iCloud storage, and wait two more months just to spend around $2,000 on the iPhone 18 Pro 1TB. The iPhone 17 Pro 1TB for $1,099 is a much better value for me. It should easily last around 5 years, and I feel like I made the right decision instead of spending around $2,100 later.

Thank you to everyone who commented and shared their opinions. You genuinely helped me think through my decision and look at it from different perspectives. I really appreciate everyone who took the time to share their advice. Your comments truly helped me make my final choice.♡

iPhone Seeing a lot of questions on whether to buy the 18 Pro. Here’s your ultimate upgrade list:

iPhone 15 Pro or earlier = upgrade

You get:

A massive performance boost with the A20 chip (something you won’t notice in everyday use, but absolutely will if you use AI features on-device)

A more durable frame and screen

Camera control button

Massive boost in camera quality + aperture

Meaningfully better battery life and faster charging

Larger and brighter screen (3,000 nits compared to 2,000 on my 15 Pro)

Far less overheating (has a cooling chamber)

Overall, it’s just a phone. But there will be a noticeable quality of life increase if you’re coming from a 15 Pro or earlier

If you have a 16 Pro or 17 Pro, even just a 17 base model, the new iOS 27 will likely be all you need.

The hardware itself isn’t a big enough improvement unless you’re using the phone for very specific professional needs where a better battery and camera specifically matters

Hope this helps!

iPhone Upgraded from a 13 Pro Max to an 18 Pro Max & didn’t realize how big of a jump it would be

I’m definitely not someone who upgrades my phone every year. I had my 13 Pro Max for years and honestly would’ve been perfectly happy continuing to use it as long as it kept working.

Finally decided to upgrade to the 18 Pro Max, though, and I have to say the difference is way more noticeable than I expected.

The biggest thing for me is just how much faster everything feels. Apps open instantly, switching between things is incredibly smooth, and there’s basically no hesitation with anything I’m doing. Even my WiFi connection at home seems noticeably better and more consistent on this phone, which I wasn’t really expecting.

The camera has probably impressed me the most. Pictures and videos are ridiculously clear compared to what I was used to, and I’ve been loving the zoom features. I’m certainly not a professional photographer, but it’s one of those upgrades where you take a few pictures and immediately notice the difference.

The battery life has also been incredible. My 13 Pro Max was down to 75% battery health, so I’d gotten used to needing a charger after just a few hours of use. With the 18 Pro Max, I can use it pretty heavily throughout the day and still make it through the entire day on a charge. Honestly, not having to constantly think about where my charger is has been one of the nicest parts of the upgrade.

I’m sure there are a million features I haven’t even touched yet. I’ve barely scratched the surface of what the phone can do.

Obviously if you’re coming from a much newer iPhone, the jump probably isn’t going to feel nearly as dramatic. But if you’re like me and tend to keep your phone for 4–5 years instead of upgrading every generation, going from the 13 Pro Max to the 18 Pro Max genuinely feels like a luxury.

I was on the fence because my 13 still technically did everything I needed it to do, but I’m really happy I finally upgraded. If anyone else is sitting on a 12/13-era Pro Max debating whether the difference is actually noticeable, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

TL;DR: Went from a 13 Pro Max to an 18 Pro Max after years of not upgrading. Huge difference in speed, WiFi, battery life, camera quality, and zoom. I don’t upgrade often, but this one actually feels worth it.

iPhone iPhone 13 worth upgrading to the 17?

**^(First posted this on the iPhone Air subreddit but I think I've found that a standard 17 is more reliable.)**

Coming from an iPhone 13, I've had an opportunity to upgrade it and while it still works fine, even for some years and still being above 80% maxium capacity the battery still no longer satisfies me.

Even though I said it still works fine, it does lag most times now, multitasking, having multiple apps open and more. That's most likely from the lower RAM as it is quite outdated for todays standards with lets say iOS 26, especially iOS 26 actually.

60 hertz works fine for me but going to a KRCS and testing out the 120 hertz screens it did feel way better and nicer compared to a 60 hertz phone like my iPhone 13.

To end this off, if my writing isn't that good English isn't my first language, what colour should I get if I should get the iPhone 17 itself. And just to clarify most of my setup (Windows setup) is black, my MacBook Neo is indigo (it was the only good colour available because Silver was out of stock). And my iPhone 13 is the white colour or whatever it was called.

iPhone Now that the iPhone 18 Pro has been revealed...

So the iPhone 18 Pro specs are officially out now, and I'm trying to decide between grabbing a discounted iPhone 17 Pro at $1,000 or just paying full price for the 18 Pro at $1,200 (256GB).

What the 18 Pro actually brings over the 17 Pro (I think these are all, correct me if I'm wrong):

  • A20 Pro chip
  • Variable aperture main camera
  • Bigger battery / longer life
  • New Camera Control button

So really the question is: is a ~$200 difference worth it, or is the 17 Pro still basically a flagship phone at a discount and the smarter buy right now?

Note: I'm currently on a Samsung and trying to figure out if I'm paying for genuine upgrades or just newness.

iPhone iPhone 17 Pro Max vs. 18 Pro Max: Is the Extra $275 Worth It?

Hello everyone,

The price difference between the two phones is about $275. I currently have an iPhone 14 Pro, and I usually keep my phone for around 4–5 years. Considering that, is it worth spending the extra $275 to get the iPhone 18 Pro Max instead of the iPhone 17 Pro Max?

And I do care about the screen size so I’m thinking about the 16 plus also for a bigger screen

iPhone iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Fold, or wait for Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone?

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a bit of a dilemma and I’d really appreciate your advice.

I currently have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. So far, I’ve been upgrading every two years, which I’ve found to be the sweet spot for me: the new phone still feels like a significant upgrade, while I can also resell my old one for a decent price.

However, this year is a bit different with the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the new iPhone “Fold” coming out.

The Fold is really, really tempting. I’ve always been interested in the foldable form factor, and having an iPhone in that format is honestly something I’d love to try. The problem is that I live in France, so with taxes and the European pricing, I’m expecting the Fold to be insanely expensive.

On the other hand, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is also tempting. Obviously, it would be less innovative than the Fold, but I’d still get the new design and all the improvements introduced since the 17 Pro Max. It would also fit my usual two-year upgrade cycle.

But then there’s another problem: next year is Apple’s 20th anniversary, and I have a feeling the special anniversary iPhone is going to be very tempting as well.

So I’m basically stuck between several options:

1. Buy the iPhone Fold
Go all-in on the new form factor, despite the potentially ridiculous price in France.

2. Buy the iPhone 18 Pro Max and keep it for two years
Then upgrade to the iPhone 21, which should hopefully be the more refined/second-generation version of whatever Apple does for the 20th anniversary.

3. Buy the iPhone 18 Pro Max and sell it when the 20th anniversary iPhone comes out
This would let me enjoy the 18 Pro Max for a year while still being able to upgrade to the anniversary model.

4. Keep my iPhone 16 Pro Max for another year
Then buy the 20th anniversary iPhone next year. The downside is that my 16 Pro Max will obviously be worth less by then, so I’d lose more money on the resale.

Honestly, I have no idea which option makes the most sense.

The Fold is by far the one I’m most excited about, but the price in France could make it hard to justify. The 18 Pro Max feels like the “safe” choice, but I’m worried I’ll regret not waiting for the 20th anniversary iPhone.

What would you guys do in my situation?

Thanks a lot in advance for your advice!

iPhone iPhone 18 Pro Max Or IPhone Ultra?

I have a yearly upgrade plan and really want the iPhone ultra but I’m not sure if I should get that one or the iPhone 18 pro max. I’m thinking worst case scenario I can use my work iPhone Air and upgrade a year from me getting the iPhone ultra but I’m not sure what is y’all’s opinion on the device if cost wasn’t an issue?? *Update* it’s now called the iPhone duo and I don’t know what to do still! If it has the matte paper touch feel than it’s a for sure no but if it feels like glass I would like that but I also already have an iPad Air 13in cellular M4. Soo is needing the iPhone duo really worth it?? If not I will choose the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

iPhone Should I upgrade to iPhone 17 Pro now or wait for iPhone 18 Pro?

Hey y’all, I need an advice:

So long story short, whenever I upgrade my phone I pass my old one down to my dad, later on you’ll understand why I’m telling you this.

Right now I have a 4.5 year old iPhone 14 Pro Max, battery health is at 81% but still gets me easily through the day as I’m a light user and no real other problems.

Im thinking about upgrading, both because I feel like I want a new phone and because I want my dad to have a “new one”, right now he has my old-ass iPhone X.

Now, at first I wanted to wait for the iPhone 18 Pro series, but I keep hearing that prices are going to skyrocket.

Since differences from the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro will be minimal, should I wait anyway or purchase now the 17 Pro?

• 14 Pro to 17 Pro

Why yes: still a new device, my dad gets a new phone asap

Why no: It wouldn’t feel like a real upgrade tbh, no real upgrades besides the vapor chamber and Apple Intelligence

• 14 Pro to 18 Pro

Why yes: real upgrade, smaller Dynamic Island, vapor chamber, Apple Intelligence

Why no: higher prices, dad has to wait another 2/3 months

What do you think? I need advices!

Thanks a lot :)

iPhone iPhone 16 Pro Max → iPhone 18 Pro Max: Worth the upgrade based on current leaks?

I currently have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and I’m trying to decide whether I should upgrade to the iPhone 18 Pro Max when it comes out.

Obviously, we don’t know the final specs yet, but based on the current leaks and rumors, the 18 Pro Max is expected to bring things like:

- A20 Pro chip / 2nm process
- Variable-aperture main camera
- Smaller Dynamic Island
- Improved display efficiency
- Potentially better battery life / larger battery
- Newer Apple modem and connectivity chips
- Other camera and hardware improvements

The design itself doesn’t seem like it’s going to be a massive departure from the recent Pro Max models.

So, for someone who already owns a 16 Pro Max, would you personally:

A) Upgrade to the 18 Pro Max
B) Keep the 16 Pro Max for another year
C) Upgrade only if the camera/battery improvements turn out to be significant
D) Wait for the 19 Pro Max instead

I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who have upgraded across multiple generations.

Based purely on what we currently know from the leaks, do you think the 18 Pro Max will be a meaningful upgrade from the 16 Pro Max, or mostly incremental?

And if you currently have a 16 Pro Max, what specific 18 Pro Max feature would actually convince you to upgrade?

Would love to hear what everyone thinks.

iPhone Upgrade to iPhone 18 pro or wait till 20

Hey guys I was wondering if I should upgrade to the iPhone 18 pro now or should I wait till the iPhone 20 comes out because everyone is saying that the 20 th one is going to be like something new.
I currently have an iPhone 15 its working but the battery life has decreased, I’ve had it for two years but no other major issues.

For reference battery health 88% with 483 cycle count

iPhone Is iPhone 17e a good buy for someone who’s not too crazy about cameras?

I keep reading about people recommending 17 over 17e for $200 extra.

Is 17e good enough for someone who doesn’t care about camera specs and AirTag finding?

iPhone Which one should I get: iPhone 17 vs 17 Pro vs 16 Pro. Upgrading from an iPnone SE 2nd Gen (2020)

Hey everyone, I’m looking to upgrade from my iPhone SE (2nd gen) from 2020, and I’m currently deciding between the iPhone 17 base model, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro.

I’ll probably be buying refurbished, although I might go brand new if I get a 17 base model or I can find one of the others for a similar price. I know a good refurbished retailer that I’ve bought from before and had a good experience with, so I’m comfortable going that route.

My main priorities are:

Good battery life,

Something that will last me for quite a few years,

Smooth performance and generally feeling fast/responsive,

A good camera, especially for video, since I like filming and making little films,

I don't necessarily need the absolute best specs, as long as the phone is going to hold up well.

The 17 Pro is quite expensive, so I’m not sure if it’s worth spending the extra money over the 17 or 16 Pro. However, if people who have used it think the improvements are genuinely worth it, I’d consider going for it.

I’m also wondering whether the 17 base model is enough for what I want, or whether the Pro models would make a noticeable difference, particularly for camera/video and longevity.

So, I am interesting in hearing your opinions on what I should get, and thanks in advance!

iPhone From a 14 Pro to an 18 Pro Max: my thoughts after two weeks

I’d been using my 128GB iPhone 14 Pro since shortly after launch. I took good care of it, no scratches, repairs, or replaced parts, but its battery health had dropped to 74%. It had also started getting hot and slowing down.
An authorized service provider quoted me $200 for a battery replacement. Storage was another issue: even with iCloud, 128GB was no longer enough for me, so replacing the battery wouldn’t have solved everything.
Since I wouldn’t recover the battery replacement cost in resale value, I initially decided to buy an iPhone Air for around $800–900. I eventually changed my mind and bought an 18 Pro Max, which I’ve now been using for two weeks.
Here’s where I’ve noticed the biggest differences:
Battery: Easily the biggest improvement. On my 14 Pro, my daily battery usage was around 230–280%. On the 18 Pro Max, even my busiest days use around 70%.
Camera: I’m neither a professional photographer nor even an amateur enthusiast. The 14 Pro already took photos I was happy with, but some photos from the 18 Pro Max look noticeably better in a way I can’t quite describe.
Comfort and weight: Moving from a Pro to a Pro Max makes a direct comparison tricky, especially because I’ve changed how I hold it. I used to rest the 14 Pro on my pinky. With a MagSafe grip on the back of the Pro Max, I hold it differently, and the weight hasn’t been the problem I feared it would be.
Performance: I don’t play demanding games, so I can’t offer much of a gaming comparison.
AI features: Removing unwanted objects from photos has been fun.
Was the upgrade worth it? I can’t give it an unconditional yes. For me, though, the battery, heat, slowdowns, and limited storage meant I was ready to replace my 14 Pro anyway.
If you’re still happy with your 14 Pro, I haven’t found a compelling reason to tell you to upgrade. The battery improvement has been huge for me, but keep in mind that I’m comparing it against an old battery at 74% health.

iPhone Should I go for Pro/Pro Max or standard models when choosing the best iphone 2026 after using an older iPhone?

Edit: Decided to go with #ad Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max and ordered one. Just got it and it already feels like a big upgrade from my old phone, thanks for the input.

I’ve been stuck on an older iPhone for a while and I’m finally planning to upgrade, but I keep going back and forth between getting a Pro model or just sticking with the standard version. I don’t really do anything too demanding, mostly browsing, messaging, and taking a lot of casual photos.

For people who’ve made the switch, does the Pro feel noticeably better in everyday use or is it only really worth it for specific features? I don’t want to overthink it but I also don’t want to regret not getting something that lasts longer. Would appreciate any real experience. thanks

iPhone iPhone 17 Pro Max or wait for iPhone 18 Pro Max in September?

Hi everyone! I currently have an iPhone 14 Pro for the last few years. My phone is quickly becoming unusable (loses battery VERY fast, constantly drops to SOS, not so great camera - though it was never very good compared to my previous iPhones which surprised me when I first got the 14).

I saw that the iPhone 18 Pro models are coming out in September. I'm wondering if I get the 17 this weekend or just wait 3 months? I would say the camera matters the most to me.
