Like I've said before, SO MANY GOOD SHOWS in Cleveland this year. But I find myself less likely to go if Blossom is the venue. The bottlenecking ass traffic on the way there and how easy it is to completely lose your car in the sea of vehicles. Too far to get an Uber. Is it just me? It's definitely my least favorite. Like why couldn't you just perform at Rocket Arena? C'mon.

Hi Clevelanders,
So, I (21f) have stage 4 endo and pcos and am frequently in and out of hospitals (mainly for ovarian cysts) since I was 18. Iāve had multiple procedures over the years and after fighting like hell, I finally got the go ahead awhile back and had my pre op appointment recently.
Anywho, my surgery date has been set. My only issue is thisā¦I live alone and Iām not from the area originally. I donāt have anyone Iām close enough to ask this out of but unfortunately I need a support person to go with me and pick me up. This will be through UH main hospital.
I would be happy to compensate for the time in whatever way I can. I hate to ask here and inconvenience anyone but Iām not sure what other choice I have. I donāt particularly have contact with my family.
edit- thanks for all of the responses and DMs! I replied back to a few people And I appreciate all of the support. I think I likely have it covered.
also, to those of you who just want to insult me and say Iām putting myself in a dangerous situationā¦just STFU genuinely. I can take care of myself just fine. Or to anyone who says I should have family come out or should plan better, I DO NOT HAVE ANYONE !!!!!
edit 2- likely going to delete this post. I donāt need a fucking lecture from people on internet safety and whatever, Iām not a helpless woman. I obviously would meet up with the person first and such, thatās why Iām doing this well in advance. Iām sorry that some of you have never been in such a situation where youāve had no other choice but to ask random strangers for help because you NEED a surgery but Iād rather take the risk than live every fucking day of my life SUFFERING. I have no quality of life, none. My life is miserable, Iām miserable. I just want to be better.some of these comments just make me so upset and want to not accept help from anyone. I feel so worthless and pathetic
ive already blocked at least 20 people here.
edit 3- somebody left this commentā¦āI'm beginning to see why after 1.5yrs in Cleveland, you still don't have anyone irl you're on better terms with than strangers from reddit.ā Iād like to address this.
First off, I donāt have a good relationship with my family which is part of why I moved here. Secondly, Iām an ex Muslim and when I moved here I was a niqabi and still practicing. I became very involved in the local community at my college and outside of there. I met many friends and became close with people. However, when I left the religion and stopped covering I lost basically everyone forcing myself to pretty much start over.
ive tried putting myself out there since through hobby groups and such and yes I know people, but many places are cliquey here and Iāve had a hard time finding my place and my people after leaving a religion and having to restart my life.
so, thatās all just to say that comment is extremely insensitive. I already wish I had closer friends but Iām weary of getting close to anyone after losing so many people in my life.

I just traveled here for the first time from Louisville, KY last week for a concert. I didnāt have very high expectations but honestly I was very surprised to say the least.
I didnāt have much time, and I only got to scratch just the surface. I love bodies of water, whether itās oceans, lakes, rivers etc. So naturally, I first went to Edgewater Park. I started at the pier and made my way to the beach and eventually the Cleveland script sign. I think this is one of my top 5 urban parks Iāve been to. If my time wasnāt so limited, I honestly wouldāve spent the entire day there.
I only got to have one meal, so I went to Doinks on the east side. It was probably the best burger Iāve had all year and I loved the overall vibe of the place. Just a tiny little burger joint. And they had ube cheesecake which was really random but absolutely fantastic!
I loved the variation of architecture too. Itās got a mix of Romanesque with the arcade, art deco, modernist, and then all the vertical lift bridges downtown gives it so much character. I kinda wish I lived here. Itās like smaller, more quiet version of Chicago. Like I could go enjoy the lake with a fraction of the crowds and traffic. Iām probably gonna come visit next year and go do some more things that I missed out on.
Also my only complaint is definitely whatever those winged insects were that were harassing me the entire time (mayflies I think?) no matter where I was in the city, F those bugs.

One year ago this month I moved to Cleveland (Lakewood) with my fiancƩe. I lived in downtown Pittsburgh prior. Here is my honest opinion on Cleveland so far.
Edit: 5.) the midges/mayflies whatever theyāre calledā¦. Nothing could have prepared meā¦. No warning. No knowledge of them at all. They just showed up one day. Itās like hell unleashed on earth. A bit dramatic but it was definitely an unexpected twist to the my first Cleveland summer last year lol
Overall, I love living here, and I love calling it home. I love it way more than I thought I would.
TLDR: the food is amazing, the people are amazing, the activities are amazing, downtown is not. I love Cleveland.

About 8:59 this morning (Tuesday) I heard a REALLY loud boom.
Iām here in Columbia Station and my friend in North Ridgeville heard it, too.

Rant mostly, but I am so tired of walking in the neighborhood (Coventry) and being approached by people, both unhoused individuals AND people asking me to buy various products. I went to mail something today (approximately a 500 ft walk) and I was cat called, approached for money and then cursed out, and asked to sign up for gutter cleaning services. At what point is enough, enough? I love Cleveland and Coventry, but Iām tired of not feeling safe as a young woman walking around my neighborhood. I call the police whenever people get violent or I feel unsafe, but thereās nothing they can do because by the time they get to me, the person is gone. I donāt know the solution for this, because obviously people canāt be forced to accept help, but I also deserve to feel safe in the neighborhood I chose to live in, love, and pay a lot of rent for.

Since moving to Cleveland the amount of people that throw shit out of their cars here is unreal. The sad part is I see it a lot from kids who throw garbage outside of their parentās car while driving. Straight up will look back at you, smile, and throw a bag of food out. At least every day Iām cleaning garbage out of the road in front of my house. Can we keep Cleveland clean!

It seems like Cleveland has a lot of outsider bias. Despite the fact, a lot of people have never been. Now, I understand if people visited and it's not their cup of tea. I even get the people who live here or have lived here having their issues and biases. But, Cleveland gets a lot more scrutiny from outsiders who have never been here. It gets that more than any other city in the country. Yeah, other cities get their shares of outsiders' bias, but it hasn't taken hits to their reputations. Their reputations are still in tact. A lot of it is due to social media, meme culture, old jokes and (to a certain extent) sports. Is this take right or wrong?

Showed up 2.5 hours before the flight, for the line to be all the way by the middle security checkpoint... Bag conveyor was broken... Only 2 (sometimes 3) people working the counter. Now they are saying they might leave with 40 bags not loaded...
I know... I know... Everyone is gonna say, that's what you get... The problem is, living in Cleveland, you can't just simply stick to a single airline due to our lack of direct flights...

Hi,
Iām sorry to be posting something like this so late but I donāt know where else to turn. Iāve contributed in this sub many times (check my post history, I also am a top 1% poster in this sub and have a lot of posts that have hit #1 here) so I promise Iām a real person.
Anyways, I moved to Cleveland alone and I donāt have contact with my family and lost most of my friends there and here after leaving my religion, and like most days Iām fine with being alone and being independent but I guess Iām really struggling right now.
I have a chronic illness and Iāve been really sick recently and was diagnosed with the flu which turned into pneumonia. Iām used to going to hospitals alone and taking care of myself, but I guess itās all really getting to me. I feel so scared all of the time recently of dying in my sleep or something because of my health issues and I donāt think anyone would notice or care unfortunately.
Iām sorry this is all a bit depressing but I was hoping maybe someone here would be open to chatting with me or being friends? I just feel so alone and depressed and sick right now and I canāt stand the idea of being so alone for any longer. Iām 21f for reference.
please delete if not allowed. Iām just not sure where else to turn to.
edit- thanks everyone for all of the responses. Iāve received quite a few message requests that Iām going to try to filter through (since many are odd which I wonāt be answering).
edit 2- of course this post would end up getting so much engagementā¦not that Iām not grateful but man this is embarrassing now that itās morning and Iām feeling much more silly about How I felt last night. If you know me, please no you donāt. But also, I woke up to so many responses and DMs it made me cry.
my big worries right now is just the simple fact that after taking a week off from work last week (unpaid) I had to return to work yesterday because unfortunately I have rent due on the 5th and I canāt afford to take anymore time off. Working yesterday led me to waking up feeling worse today but itās either I choose to take more time off and worry about not having a place to live or work and risk ending up back in the hospital. Iām not saying this for sympathy or asking for help or anything, I just wish my life were different right now and I donāt have other choices or the privilege to not work. But, Iām very used to having to work through being sick.
im just not sure my life is even worth living anymore. whatās even the point?

I travel too fucking much for work and have been to so many cities the past 5 years, but downtown Cleveland has been refreshing. I'm a Dallas native who adopted the Cavs as my eastern conference team during the Cavs4Mavs movement in 2011. The Mavericks were battling the Heat in the championship during LBJs first season there. Good vs evil. So I was already warmed up to Cleveland.
Reasons why I like Cleveland:
-I feel like I can walk across the city in 15 minutes
-tons of water features
-nighttime is well lit
-diversity of many types: POC, business, food
-great public transit (compared to Dallas)
-has all the amenities you would want in a downtown: the sports teams are actually in the fucking city, casino, bars, entertainment district, fine dining
-the people I meet at bars have been pretty friendly
-it feels like regular, everyday people spend time in downtown. Some cities feel kind of dead at night
-traffic isn't awful
-the airport is very close
-the craftsman bungalows are cute af
-I enjoy the industrial vibe, the work places feel much more visible vs a nondescript colony of warehouses. I may also struggle with the poshness(?) I feel from San Diego/Boston/LA/Providence/Houston/Dallas
-I'm surprised by the lack of advertising I'm used to seeing from cities like LA, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle. I feel like there's less billboards which opens up my view during drives.
Anyway. Cleveland is dope, thanks for reading.
