Losing a conure is heartbreaking. They’re family, companions, and little personalities that leave huge marks on our lives. If you’ve lost your bird, you are welcome to share memories, photos, stories, or simply say their name here.
To keep the main feed safe and balanced for all members:
All posts about a conure passing away must be posted only in this megathread.
Standalone posts about bird death or loss outside this thread will be removed.
This is not to minimize anyone’s loss but rather to keep grief support in one dedicated, supportive space where people can choose to engage.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Conures/wiki/index
This subreddit's Conure Guide, written by /u/DukeofGoodCleanFun, is a remarkable document that I (and my pineapple green cheek) have benefited a lot from. I've consulted and browsed through it numerous times and there's always something new to see there, or something that didn't seem applicable at one point but took on new meaning after spending more time with my conure.
I've taken the text and converted it into a wiki page. It's now navigable, with an index and internal links that direct to sections within the wiki. The Conure Guide can be accessed from this post, from the announcement bar, and from the "wiki" tab in the tabmenu up top.
A couple of the links for recommended products will direct you to Amazon, but there are certainly other places to buy them. If you shop around and find and better place, by all means send us a modmail. Also, let us know if you have any suggestions for how the wiki formatting can be improved.

His name is Nanael and he likes being a boomerang (as in throw a hissy fit until I yeet him across the room, do a U turn and land on my head, and then make me yeet him again).

So my new Cinnamon Conure (around 3 Months old) is really aggresive makes my hand bleeding. Even tough the breeder said it rarely bite and he said it could be because they learn from other parrots which is possible because my yellow side do like to nib but not that hard. How do i train my cinnamon to not bite that hard? Does clicker training helps?

Hi everyone!
I brought home Rio, my 3-month-old pineapple green-cheek conure, six days ago, and I could really use some advice on gaining his trust.
A little background on him: His previous owners got him from a breeder, but unfortunately, they weren’t very gentle with him. They would forcefully handle him, and he was already terrified of hands when he was with them. When I went to pick him up, it took around six people trying to catch and restrain him before they could finally hand him over to me. It was awful to watch, and I can only imagine how frightening that must have been for such a little bird.
Naturally, he’s now extremely wary of hands, including mine. If I approach him or his cage, he’ll immediately move away or try to escape. Sometimes he’ll even climb out of his cage just to get away from me. I don’t chase him or force him to interact. I usually just leave him alone and let him explore at his own pace.
What’s interesting, though, is that he does seem curious about me when I’m not actively trying to interact with him.
The video I’m attaching is actually the closest he’s ever willingly come to me! I was lying in bed, and I think he assumed I was asleep. He started making little noises, almost as if he was trying to wake me up. When I didn’t respond, he actually jumped from his cage onto my bed and came towards me completely on his own.
I was so surprised because whenever I try to approach him myself, he gets scared and runs away. But when he thinks I’m not paying attention to him, he seems much more comfortable getting close.
I’m trying to be patient because I know it’s only been six days, and I don’t expect him to trust me overnight. I just don’t want to accidentally reinforce his fear or undo whatever little progress we’re making.
How do I help him become comfortable with my hands? Should I continue giving him space and letting him initiate interactions, or is there something I should be doing to actively build that trust?

My green cheek conure has non stop had a attitude and has been biting me constantly for no reason at all. my hands have marks all over from him and he bites everywhere, my face, my lips, my hands, my arms, everything for no reason. he will switch up randomly and he will be cuddly and fine and then attack me out of nowhere when i am just sitting there. he used to be so sweet and i can’t deal with how mean he is anymore. it’s so random and it won’t stop no matter what i do. he’s 1 year and 6 months old and he used to be the sweetest, loving, and kindest bird. i don’t know what changed, he has pellets daily, fruit/vegtables and clean water every day with a ton of toys and a big cage and gets let out everyday. his bites are not playful, he grips on and digs his whole beak into me out of nowhere and does not let go and draws blood and leaves scars. any advice? im lost and have no idea what to do anymore. i wanna let him out but its getting hard to when he will purposely bite and attack me.

Ive been a bird person for a few years, but when I really think about it. Cause what do you mean he has his own thoughts and little lungs, and heart, and a very small brain. That they feel happy and safe with me. I love him so much, he's so defective and dumb. But such a precious thing i have in my life, even though he pisses me of with his mischievous self.

How can I get my conure back into his cage after free roam time without forcing him? He isn’t super comfortable with me handling him yet, and I don’t want to not let him out of his cage solely for that reason as I feel it’s not fair to keep him in the cage 24/7. Does anyone have advice on how I can get him back in his cage without hurting the bond I’m forming with him? Or is it really best to keep him in his cage until he will let me hold him? I’m a new owner and trying to do what is best so please be kind. I’m open to learning and doing better.

My four month old conure just played with this for over an hour. She kept fiddling with the knot, until she untied it, then lost interest. I retied it for her, and she went back to playing with it. I spent money on actual toys, and yet a string will keep her entertained for longer.
(I was holding one end, so it didn't become a chocking hazard, dw.)
It's like buying an expensive cat tower, only for said cat to be more enamoured with the box instead.

Hi fellow conure lovers! I am looking for advice on rehoming my green cheek conure. She is 13 years old and I’ve owned her whole life. She came from a reputable conure breeder in my area. She is a very happy and musical bird. The reason I am doing this is I will be moving out of the country by the end of the year. I have put flyers out around town and have had people interested but then they flake. So any tips appreciated! (Idk why but Reddit won’t let me ad pics of her??)
He is 55 days old and the seller told me he's fully weaned and has been eating by himself without formula for the last 2 days, but I'm scared he isn't actually fully weaned yet. He eats from my hand and also eats normal food from his bowl by himself, but I haven't seen him drink water yet.
He had a water dispenser in his cage, but there was a dead bug inside it when I got him, which honestly pissed me off. I replaced it with a normal water bowl for now and I'm gonna clean the dispenser properly.
The seller also gave me a bag of the food he's been eating and told me to just let him eat as much as he wants. I'm planning to weigh him every morning using my coffee scale to make sure he isn't losing weight.
Another thing I'm worried about is the temperature. My room is usually around 18-20°C because of the AC, and I'm not sure if that's too cold for him, especially since he's only 55 days old. I really don't wanna make my whole room warmer, so I'm wondering if there's another way to keep him comfortable.
His cage is also pretty small (47x30x33 cm), but I've already ordered a bigger one that's arriving on the 29th, so he only has to stay in this one for another 3 days. I also ordered a tabletop bird stand that's arriving tomorrow since I spend most of my time on my PC. I'm planning to let him stay outside his cage most of the time when he's awake, obviously while keeping an eye on him.
He's pretty active, climbs around his cage, and seems comfortable with my hand. Sometimes he nips at my fingers, but I think that's because the seller used to feed him from his hand, so he probably thinks I have food. His wings aren't clipped either.
Mainly I'm just looking for tips on how to not have him die on me. I'm genuinely scared for him, especially because I'm not sure if he's fully weaned or drinking enough water. This is my first pet/bird if it wasn't obvious lol. Any advice on feeding, water, temperature, or just things I should watch out for would be really appreciated. I also wanna know if there's anything I'm doing wrong because I'd rather fix it now than find out too late.
