PSA: REPORT ALL AI DO NOT INTERACT

I just removed a graphically violent AI slop video involving a fake cocktoo being murdered. I expect this to happen again.

THEY AREN'T REAL.

PLEASE for the love of all that's good, if you run into a violent or suspected AI slop post, DO NOT INTERACT WITH IT. Report it. Report it. JUST REPORT IT.

Do NOT give it engagement, do not try to talk to the person, YOU CAN'T CONVINCE PEOPLE NOT TO DO THIS. For these kinds of posts, any engagement is considered good engagement. Even downvoting and condemnation is engagement. DO NOT.

Let your mod team handle this.

Rule 1: Be civil and respectful. What does that really mean?

Hello /r/parrots community! It’s your friendly neighborhood mod team here.

This sub doesn’t have too many rules, but perhaps the most important is to be civil and respectful towards others. We do not tolerate rudeness or personal attacks, regardless of context. You may ask why we take this rule so seriously.

While it’s never a bad idea to just generally be nice, we also have this rule for a very important reason: to help people take better care of their birds. How, you may ask? We strive very hard to keep this community a place where people feel comfortable asking questions so they can receive feedback.

We recognize that people feel very strongly about parrot husbandry, and that seeing birds in conditions that are not ideal can be difficult, but we also know that making attacks or being snarky doesn’t help anyone. Instead, it makes people defensive or nervous to ask questions. When we fail to foster a community where people can look for advice, the parrots lose. Every time.

Our general rule of thumb is this: you shouldn’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say in person to someone you know. Remember that there is a human on the other end of the exchange you’re having. If you’re disagreeing with them, be constructive and kind. Give the sort of advice you’d like to receive. Remember that you may be talking to people in tough situations, or a kid, or someone who has been given outdated information.

Very importantly, if someone violates this rule in their response to you, do not respond in kind. Instead, please report the comment.

That report button is one of the most important tools we have as a community! We check threads all the time, but with a constant stream of new content, it’s always possible for us to miss something.

We ask that you please hit that report button if you believe someone is violating the rules. The moderators review each and every post or comment that gets reported, and we will take action as appropriate. You can also reach our team via modmail if you have an issue.

We appreciate your help keeping the subreddit friendly and welcoming. We are grateful to everyone who contributes their time and experience to help people learn about parrots, to everyone who asks for help when they need advice, and to the folks who share their wonderful birds with us!

All the best,

The /r/parrots mods

I created this short for my band and decided to record it with my Caique Mango on my shoulder, but it ended up too cute not to share with this community 😂

I recently introduced some new fruits to the Macaws I'm training. Mika(first picture) loves melons & broccoli, Maverick(second picture) likes to hold his food himself. I do not know if I was deserving of the side eye.

Do you ever work with your parrots?

I mean, do you ever need to do work while being with you parrots?

Trying to write while using a blanket to protect my screen from beaks after my conure Fable broke my laptop camera.

One itty bitty parrot on each arm who were both fully content to ignore me five minutes earlier.

Judging by Fable nipping me, I apparently typed too fast. Too much jostling… for a bird who loves to be bounced up and down when music is playing! 😂

My stepfather walked past my room, she is a afraid of him and lots of people, but he gives her seeds everyday without problem. Suddenly she reacted like this every time he walked past the room.

Vote for the pink, playful galahs!

• Upvotes

Now I have an easy request (which you're welcome to ignore). I've been in touch with a young Japanese-Australian guy, Takanori, who lives with his girlfriend near Sydney. He goes to a nearby park every morning to photograph galahs (playful, smart pink cockatoos). He posts his photos under the Twitter handle "Jurassic Parrot." I'm not related to him, never met him, but he's a good guy.

https://x.com/jurassic_parrot

But not only does he take pictures of Galahs and other birds, he picks up trash that Aussies leave around the park. The trash, including cigarette butts - ugh - can harm birds and other wildlife.

He submitted a photo to a major contest presented by World Wildlife Fund - Australia. The prize is nothing flashy - it's sort of like getting a cake stand if you win The Great British Bake-Off. I think it's some kind of educational opportunity (actually, that's better than a stupid cake stand). He really really wants to win and learn more about wildlife.

How to vote - and it's FREE, and trump and elon can't interfere:

Go to:

https://photographyfornature.[com.au/contestant/5234?contest=4](http://com.au/contestant/5234?contest=4) and click Vote for me. Thanks.

You should see "Not in the mood to play" with a photo of two goofy Galahs. Scroll down, click "Vote for me" and submit. You'll be asked to verify via Google or Facebook. You can vote for free every 24 hours. If you want to vote more frequently, just make a small donation. I made one donation of 5 Aussie dollars, which is currently $3.51.

You think I'd say "Easy peasy"?? I'm slightly more dignified.

Even one vote counts.

You WON'T BE SPAMMED.

Has anyone else experienced there parrot foot tapping or foot stamping and overpreening his feet ? His been to the vet and he acted normal infront of them and we done a blood test his organs a clear the next step the vet said is maybe a heavy metal test but she said his not showing typical heavy metal signs since this has been going on for a year and his still eating fine without a decline ? We also tried anti inflammatorys with no improvement ? EDIT IT IS NOT HIS PERCHES OR BEHAVIOR HIS CAGE IS 2 meteres tall and he has multiple perches flat perches and natural wood Java perches I’ve changed his natural perches every fortnight for thr last year and only just tried one smooth dowel , I repeat IT IS NOT A PERCH OR BEHAVIOR ISSUE
