legs/feet Any help with what this could be would be appreciated. ALM? Mole? Blood Clot?

Post image
• Upvotes

I have this spot on the bottom of my foot. Sole of the foot. It’s been there now for two months and hasn’t gone away. I was thinking initially it was some sort of blood clot but did more research and since it hasn’t gone away I’m worried it might be something else. It’s not painful or itchy.

I will have it checked but wanted to know what this might be based of the picture and the details I shared. Any insights or even guesses what it could be would be very much appreciated.

Will be sure to update the community once I have the results back from the dermatologist.

legs/feet Dark spot on my leg after a cyst and failed ingrown hair removal. What should I do?

Post image
• Upvotes

hi everyone, this is my first post here.

I had what I think was a cyst on my leg due to an ingrown hair after shaving a few weeks ago. Before seeing my dermatologist, I tried to pull out the hairs in that spot, but I don't think it worked.
My dermatologist told me to leave it alone and apply clindamycin, which I also use for my facial acne and acne marks.
The area no longer looks infected or inflamed, but a dark spot remains, and the clindamycin hasn't changed it. I'm confused about what it is now. Could a piece of hair still be trapped under the skin, or is it just a leftover mark? It’s still a little itchy rn.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any suggestions for what to do next would be really appreciated

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Can I switch to BP 2.5%?

• Upvotes

I am a teenager, experiencing mild acne, triggered by hormones. I started developing acne 4 months ago. Mild acne. I have been using clindamycin bp gel, topped off with azelaic acid 20%, and clindamycin nicotinamide gel, topped off with azelaic acid 20%, alternative days, at night, with a 2 hour gap between the creams. I have had no active breakouts for the past few days, I wanted to know if I could start using just benzoyl peroxide gel 2.5% instead of clindamycin bp gel. rest of the creams and routine shall remain the same.
(acne vulgaris/follicular acne)

DURATION - 4 months
TIMELINE - no new breakout over the past few days
TREATMENTS TRIED - the creams mentioned above, doxid tablets, lacto baccilus doxid

Been dealing with this on my scalp for a long time on and off and it is really starting to annoy me and i want to get rid of it. Not sure what kind of products to use because they are for different purposes. Its not very itchy but the appearance of the flakes do bother me and sometimes the area looks red after washing my hair. Not sure what kinds of shampoo of other products to use. Worth a doctor visit?

arms/hands Is this ringworm? I started going to a new gym recently.

Post image
• Upvotes

This is my arm. I started going to a new gym recently and I’m afraid of this being ringworm because I have not been at other places except gym and home.

It does not itch or hurt. It’s just there and i noticed it today.

I have not tried anything because i just discovered it this morning. I do not know how long this has been present for on my arm.

I have not had any medical conditions skin related, except for acne but it has not gotten bad. Just regular hormonal acne.

I always use antibacterial soap when I come home from the gym, so I’m not sure if maybe it’s just my skin being dry from the soap? Although I have been using it for years and have not had issues like these.

neck/chest/abdomen What is this spot on my chest?

What could this spot be on my chest?

-It’s been here for a few weeks.
-not itchy but it I accidentally scratch, it hurts
-when I did scratch to see what it is, it bled a tiny tiny bit

I sent this photo into my derm and they got me in for Fri morning to look at it. But I’d like to be prepared for what it could be.

For context- 39 year old female. Fair skin- history of tanning bed use from around 18-25 but since then no tanning bed and always use sunscreen when outside but do understand I did significant damage during those years. Burn somewhat easily.

Looking for input on what it could be. Thank you!

back Can anyone check if this is a tick bite on the back on my dad? Thank you for the help in advance

Post image
• Upvotes

I noticed this on my dad’s back. Could this be a tick bite? We had been out in a field for a while so maybe it came from that. We Have not tried anything yet to heal it, and we are currently making plans to go to see a dermatology office as soon as possible. It has not been painful or itchy. We were in the field 3 days ago. Thank you all for the help, I appreciate it and hope this post has reached the 50 word minimum count in order to be posted.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Eczema or perioral dermatitis? Or something else?

Can anyone help me ID this rash??

It has been present for about two weeks. It started a bit smaller and expanded to about this size. I feel like the bumps were larger at first but I honestly can’t tell. It peels and itches occasionally. I’ve got a colloidal oatmeal eczema cream that I’ve been putting on it once a day and it stings when applied but I can’t really tell if it’s helping or hurting. I have no history of eczema, STIs, or rashes of any kind. My skincare routine is very basic and doesn’t include any actives or exfoliants. Rash is not present anywhere else on face or body. I have an appointment with my pcp soon and I’ll request a derm referral then but I am hoping to get ahead of this before it gets worse.

TIA!!

legs/feet What is this? No itchy in thigh

Post image
• Upvotes

Duration: 3 weeks

Location: intern thigh

It was a little less red at first, and now it's a little redder. It doesn't itch. I've been using miconazole for 3 weeks (self-treatment), and there have been no changes.

What is this? I'm afraid it might be a resistant fungus, but I don't know if it's a fungal infection.

I am at a loss as to what this could possibly be. Honestly, it's below my lip. I tried the worst possible thing I could manage to do, and I picked it, and it just bleeds for about 5-10 minutes and hasn't gone away in months. Sometimes, it's red and irritated with no pain.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks I have this thing for more than 3 years now and i am still not 100% what it is

Ok so i am an 18 year old and i have this skin condition for a very long time at first i thought it would go away eventually but even after consulting 3-4 doctors about this i am still not sure what exactly this is, most of the doctors named it acne which i think is wrong because acne definitely dosent look like that and the fact that its only at my jaw but one of the doctors i recently consulted she said that i have Folliculitis, Keratosis pilaris and Atopic Dermatitis, when i looked them all up Atopic Dermatitis felt very similar to my jaw’s condition so i took the medicines she gave me a mometasone furoate cream to apply at night with a moisturizer and vitamin supplement but none of this worked on me yet it has been 2 months, i would really appreciate if there are any people who have great knowledge about this can help me out because it has been a insecurity of mine for a long time it has made my jaw dark as well it dosent look like that in the picture because i had stretched it for a better view

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks I need help! persistent facial lesion😭

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’ve been struggling with a persistent facial lesion for over a year now, and I would really appreciate any guidance or insight.
I first noticed it while treating my post-acne hypertrophic scars. After applying lidocaine, the area blanched, making the lesion more noticeable.
My dermatologist at the time reassured me that it was nothing concerning and advised me to continue Accutane, expecting it to resolve on its own. Unfortunately, it didn’t.
Since then, I’ve consulted several dermatologists and tried multiple treatments:
Topical and systemic antifungals, with no improvement.
Treatment for flat warts, also without improvement.
Some dermatologists have even told me they couldn’t identify a visible lesion.
I’m currently back on antifungal treatment under my dermatologist’s guidance, but I’m still not seeing significant improvement.
Clinical appearance:
It starts as small white papules resembling closed comedones.
The papules gradually merge into a larger, plaque-like lesion.
The affected area doesn’t tan like the surrounding skin.
It occasionally appears salmon-pink.
It has progressively spread across almost my entire cheek and now seems to be extending further.
It’s been over a year of uncertainty, unsuccessful treatments, and watching it spread. It’s honestly affecting my confidence and making me increasingly self-conscious.
Has anyone encountered a similar presentation or have any suggestions regarding possible diagnoses or further investigations?
I would genuinely appreciate any guidance. Thank you so much.

scalp Scalp psoriasis treatment idea! Or am I just crazy?

Thumbnail

This is gonna sound crazy, but bear with me. Looking at the ingredients of this would you technically be able to put it on your scalp? Could dilute it in shampoo or try it straight. I’m having a really bad flare up and my usual go to’s just aren’t working. A lot of these ingredients are in antidandruff/psoriasis things. I know salicylic acid is an effective exfoliant.

I’m on a very very tight budget and I’m trying to use what I have on hand.

I’ve also scalp bleached my head before so I doubt this will chemically burn me nearly as badly.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Perioral dermatitis? Or is it something else? Please help.

Post image

I’ve been dealing with this for two years. TWO YEARS. I’ve actually had it for 4 years, but it went away for a year and then came back. I’ve been to three dermatologists, and my family doctor. No one seems to have a cure. It’s on my nose. Also the inside of my nose gets itchy. Sometimes my entire nose just gets red.. not blemishes but all red and then it peels. It is itchy sometimes. It never completely goes away.

I was on doxycycline for an entire year (a 100mg daily dose), and it still did not completely go away. It can’t be good for my body to be on that constantly.

Most of the time, this is localized to my nose. But the past two weeks or so it has spread to the rest of my face. So SICK of dealing with this. Ive tried ivermectin (made it more irritated/worse) and gave been using pimecreolis (sp?) cream for about 2 years.

I work out a lot and i do heated power yoga. I also run. I noticed it gets worse when I sweat. Not sure if thats a factor or not.

Someone please help. It is now spreading to my eyes and forehead.

general enquiry Is a chaperone required for a full body skin exam?

32 M and will be getting a full body skin exam soon. Not sure if the derm will be male or female but regardless, I was wondering if it is common to have a nurse in the room during the exam? Or is it more common practice to just have the derm there?

arms/hands Is this eczema? Can anyone give me suggestions on how

Post image
1 Upvotes

So its been 3 weeks, visited a doctor he said that this may be due to eczema or dermatitis and said that it will recover with time but today 2 blisters appeared on one my toes, so how to mitigate this condition and how to not trigger the flare? And is there a way for eczema to heal faster?

Location: the eczema is for now only on the side of my left hand is in the photo and on one of my toes on the right leg.

Treatments: applied Vaseline and moisturizer to dried skin and the affected areas

There have been no medical conditions related to the skin and medications taken(in the last 6 months) prior to this

legs/feet Alguém sabe oque pode ser isso?

On the night of the 15th, I left my shoe outside. On the 16th, when I put it on to go home, I tapped the shoe to check if there was any insect inside, but apparently there was nothing. At the time, I was wearing the shoe without socks.

While walking, I started feeling discomfort in my toe, with the sensation that it was becoming thicker. When I took off my shoe, I noticed that the toe was swollen and saw small hairs or fibers embedded in the skin. I tried to remove them, but I couldn't.

The swelling appeared suddenly, developing overnight. Later, blisters began to appear in the affected area, causing itching. After the blisters appeared, I noticed that the swelling had partially decreased.

Over the following days, the blisters began spreading to the big toe of my right foot, which is the foot shown in the photos. Additionally, two small, isolated blisters appeared on my left foot.

general enquiry Dermatology (For Dummies?)

Not sure if this is the right place to make this post. I've never given my skin a second thought, aside from random moisturizers, due to the occasional eczema flare up. I see a blemish/ingrown hair? I pop it. (I know I shouldn't. I'm looking to be set straight here. lol)

Point being, I have essentially no knowledge when it comes to taking care of my skin. Are there some resources, or general do's/don't that y'all know about that you would be willing to share for dummies? I'm talking, square one, ELI5, give me the low down. How do I take good care of my own skin on a daily basis?

Thank ya kindly!!

arms/hands Unknown/New Skin Tag?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Noticed what appears to be a new skin tag on underarm. F29, stopped shaving underarms a few years ago but I apply deodorant daily (though usually without looking). I have other moles and skin tags that I've had my entire life, and all are unchanged, except this one spot that in 99% certain is not one of them. Not bleeding, not itchy, not painful upon touch. Does get random stinging sensations but so does most of my body as I have a few dysautonomia conditions. Seeing a derm in my area requires a referral from my pcp, is this concerning enough to try to fight for that referral to get this checked out?

scalp Sudden itchy scalp, have tried so many things, need advice

I have damaged curly hair (from heat and color, which ive stopped using both), and I usually would wash my hair every 3-5 days. I’ve never ever had a problem with an itchy scalp, even when my hair gets greasy, but a couple months ago I noticed my scalp was getting itchy pretty fast after I washed it. It was happening quicker and quicker and now my scalp gets itchy like a day after I wash it, but my hair is not greasy at all, so now I have to wash my hair every other day. And there’s no flakes or dandruff or any bumps or redness. No other place on my body is itchy either, it’s just my scalp.

I hadn’t changed any products I was using when the itching started, so I don’t know what could have triggered it. But I was already using a moisturizing/hydrating shampoo and conditioner, plus leave in conditioner. But I thought maybe my scalp was dry so I used more product. It didn’t help, so I tried using less product, thinking it might be buildup. I tried washing more often, less often, conditioning my whole head, conditioning only my ends, using oils, masks, changing my hair products, anything I could think of. I’ve googled and tried so many things and I can’t figure out why I’m suddenly having this problem. Is there anything else I could try??
