I bathe my toddler in the laundry sink (no bathtub in this house!) but he's recently noticed the mixer tap and now it's a constant battle to stop him grabbing it and accidentally turning it all the way to scalding.
I've tried looking at 'toddler proofing' attachments but I can't seem to find anything that will still allow me to set the tap to warm. Is there a way for me to restrict how far the tap turns so that my sticky-fingered toddler can avoid burning himself?
EDIT
To respond to some common questions:
- water heaters in my area must be set to a minimum temperature of 60degC to prevent growth of Legionella. This is a legal requirement.
- we're after a solution that will allow us to keep the tap running during shower/bathtime
- I think the easiest solution is to use a couple of zip ties to limit the range of the tap for now, and then get a mixing valve installed at this outlet.
- kid is never unattended in the bath. Even if I'm there the whole time, it's pretty easy for a toddler to knock the tap the wrong way without any prior warning. Often it's an accident and I flick it back like 1-2 seconds later, but that's enough time for the water to become uncomfortably hot for the little one.
Thanks for all the help!
