With the newest update both colored wool and concrete have gotten stairs and slab variants. Those are amazing additions for builders!
However I feel like Mojang forgot about terracotta which is a shame because the colored terracotta variants provide different, more muted colors that are great for building too (see second image).

With how long the Sift update has been in development, do you think it could end up having more features than any of the 4 huge updates?

I’ve added a feature to my personal server that allows you to restore the health of corals using a water bottle.
I think this should be added to vanilla Minecraft.

The first thing I thought when I saw them was that they’d used up the best idea they could possibly have had for creating aliens in the game.
Let me explain: they have two eyes, each on a different side of their head, and their entire body is oriented so that a corner faces forward.
No other mob is like this; they all have their faces on a single side—even Creepers and Creakings have their faces positioned that way, and they’re plants!

To my eyes as a taxonomist, this just doesn’t sit right. If the body plan of the other mobs is a monophyletic trait—one unique to them—and the sculkers are so vastly different, it implies they aren’t closely related to animals, plants, or, by extension, fungi.
This is a crucial point, because animals belong to the Opimoda group and plants to the Diphoda group—this is the fundamental division among eukaryotes.
In other words, either the sculkers are a type of eukaryote entirely distinct from all others, or they aren’t eukaryotes at all.

I don't know why, but my buddy always comes to hang out with me when I play Minecraft. He's my best friend!

Started a big project for a map room (just placing them on a placeholder template at the moment) and started noticing weird glitches. All the entities and block entities in my base started flickering. Restarted my game and fixed it, then got it again about an hour later. Then I got this glitch. Is this project too much for my Realm? 23x23, Map level 0
EDIT: turned video mode to performance and haven’t been able to replicate this glitch in the video yet. But I still have flickering entities.

Since my previous post was removed for using AI, I wanted to share my Blackwood idea again. This time, I recreated all the blocks in Blockbench and wrote the text myself.
Last time, I only used AI because I wanted to post my idea as soon as possible and because I’m lazy. AI did not generate the idea. Sorry for the 'AI slop' in my previous post!
Idea:
I think African blackwood or Ebony could be added as a rare tree in the savanna biome, with a full wood set including (stripped) logs, planks, stairs, slabs, fences, doors, trapdoors,...
Blackwood would fill an existing gap in the current wood types, especially for gothic architecture, dark wood interiors, and roofing.
African blackwood (Mpingo) grows naturally across African savannas, so it could fit perfectly in Minecraft's savanna biome. Its black color would also make it a unique addition to the existing wood types.
Here are some of its possible features:
- Rare generation: Much harder to find than acacia trees.
- Lower sapling drop rate: Around 2.5% chance, comparable to jungle trees.
- Slower growth: Takes longer to grow than other trees.
- Higher hardness: Slightly slower to chop than other wood types.
- Higher blast resistance: More resistant to explosions than other wood types.
- Higher fire resistance: More fire-resistant, but not completely fireproof.
- Unique sound: A higher-pitched sound when chopping it because of the wood's density.
I've included some concept images of what the logs, stripped logs, and planks could look like.
What do you think? Would Blackwood or Ebony fit in the savanna, or would you prefer to see it in a different biome?

Just some additional usage ideas for the Spear.
Shield Use: The most obvious change would be to make it so that when a spear and shield are held at the same time both can be used at the same time.
Spear Dispensing: An idea that's made its rounds already. Basically a dispenser dispenses a spear in a damaging jab and then retracts said spear.
Prodding: When holding a spear in the charging attack and not moving fast enough to deal damage the spear can still knock back entities short distances by shaking the spear. This wouldn't damage or aggro the entity.

I haven't played Minecraft in years, am giving it a go again. I got an Ocean Monument map from a cartographer. Sweet, never been to one. I got close, kept getting attacked, kept getting mining fatigue. So I found a nearby island and tunneled under the Ocean Monument. I eventually popped a cow in a boat and brought it along to cancel the mining fatigue every minute. I brought a ton of sand, and when coming up from under, started using the sand to clear out the water. Now, I've cleared a room, and by lucky chance one of the bad dudes swam in when there were just three water blocks left. Slice slice, done. It'll be a long haul, but I'm going to clear this thing from the bottom up.
I don't have any water breathing potions or gear, no fancy armor or anything. Just back and forth, back and forth, a few sand at a time...

There would be towers across the world (12 in the example because that's the current amount of eyes needed, but honestly that seems like a bit much) and could find them yourself or use a map from a cartographer. each one would point you to the next, then once you have all the eyes in place they would point you to the now-open portal. this could work very well if and only if exploration is made interesting in general.

Without a doubt, this is one of the best additions to the early game. I can understand why some in the community might have expected a more specialized use for copper, but ultimately, it’s worth noting that copper is extremely easy to obtain without needing to explore caves making it a perfect material for casual players, newcomers, and those who prefer to save their iron for later. This armor doesn't need any fancy features; it simply provides the basic protection needed to explore at night or venture into caves without too much trouble.

I've never understood why if there are 10 pillars total, why they are not equal distance to each other. Is there some maths to this where the distance between each pillar is equal rather than the centre of each pillar being an equal distance from another pillar?
This has frustrated me for a while and I've never seen anyone post about this, and when I'll be looking at this subreddit over the course of days or weeks, I just never see anyone talk about this. I know people who are way more into the game than I am, usually remove the pillars purely for the obsidian and then destroy the bedrock so they're not left floating, but this is crazy to me. I hate it so much, I want and NEED answers
