Discussion I'm Tom Sollitt, a District 3 Candidate for Portland City Council (AMA)!
I'll be here from 6–10pm tonight to answer questions, share my ideas for Portland, and talk through things we think need improvement. Looking forward to an open conversation and hearing what's on your mind.
My website: https://www.tomforpdx.com
Thanks everyone for participating and asking great questions! I know this AMA is a little late in the campaign, but I appreciate the questions and feedback. It’s all helpful! I’ll still be lurking around and will likely pop in here and there.

Discussion Max Red Line Review from Chicago
Just moved here, have been taking the Blue Line from near downtown to way out east. After one week, I have already seen one assault (unprompted) and one woman be harassed aggressively. Half of the people riding seem to be homeless and half of the homeless are in really bad shape. I've seen swords, a massive dog, and people carrying around a whole lot of random stuff that you have to climb over to get on/off the train.
Somehow it feels safer than Chicago's trains, but this is crazy af. Is this typical of Portland transit or is this a new thing?
I'll add that there has been plenty of funny/sweet/not awful things happening, but Jesus it has been one week. The assault victim was okay and passengers were able able to connect with him afterwards, and the woman who was being harassed was successfully saved by bystanders.
Edited to BLUE line (still learning transit here oops)

Discussion Power outage in NE
Does anybody know what happened this morning? I woke up to 3 loud clunking sounds like a water tank being hit with a hammer. That was just about the time power went out. I didn’t lose my Internet connection, but I was notified by AT&T about Quantum fiber outage.

Discussion coyote sighting in montavilla
I’ve seen flyers around so I’m not sure how rare this really is but I have neighbors with outdoor cats and wanted to make this post just in case!!
sighted a coyote around se 85th and ash around midnight. it approached me from across the intersection, and though I attempted to scare it off, it followed me for a couple houses. this behavior seemed kind of weird — it seemed like a curious juvenile but I know coyotes can be pretty small and I’m no animal expert.
just a heads up for people in the area!

For those of you interested in Portland's crows, check out the first episode of my Microraptor Podcast which features PDX's roost. I've been documenting Portland's crow roost for 10 years, and this first episode is a serious labor of love.
I'm sharing the first minute here, and you can find the rest at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_1sO474hfM

Discussion I would love if some part of Wildwood became a permanent exhibit at PDX
Wildwood was such a beautiful representation of our city; I'd love to see it permanently memorialized somewhere. The safest / best place in my mind would be somewhere at PDX.
Imagine flying into PDX, the most beautiful airport in the country, and seeing a handcrafted model of Pittock or St. Johns Bridge encased in glass as you walk back from your plane. It'd be perfect for tourism and a great show of local pride!
Any LAIKA/PDX employees here who could get the ball rolling on something like this?

Discussion Wildwood was INCREDIBLE!!
What an incredibly epic and detailed and thoughtful film. But definitely not for little kids! I want to go see it a second time in the theaters - the cinematography and craft demand a large screen.

Discussion Bounty- Piebald deer sighting!
Today I sighted in Lents, a piebald deer! (Not the one pictured, but it looked VERY similar). It was insanely majestic!
I was driving and I am DISTRAUGHT that I wasn't able to stop and take a picture.
I am willing to offer a CRISP $5 bill to whomever is able to take a decent photo of this glorious creature.

Photo/Video Semi Truck on Germantown this afternoon
My wife was two cars behind a semi truck with trailer that went down Germantown road this afternoon, which is illegal. She saw it sideswipe at least one car and cause at least one other accident, and it never stopped. The photo is a pic they took of the truck's license plate after it got onto the st Johns bridge, she also got a multiple minute video of it driving on Germantown.
If it hit you or caused you to get in an accident, shoot me a PM. She'd be happy to give a statement to your insurance and/or share the video she took with you.
She's also reported it to police non-emergency, the trucking company (Legend), as well as the FMCSA complaint line (you should too): https://complaint.fmcsa.dot.gov

Lost & Found Stolen car: 2002 Subaru Forester S green/gold
Hey guys, my fiancés car got stolen around 1am on Saturday the 24th. The car is a 2002 subaru forester, its green/gold in color, it has a bumper guard attached to the front, a slight tint on the windows, a tow hitch on the back, led headlights, a couple of distinct bumper stickers (a Minecraft bumper sticker, a sticker that says dont honk im literally pondering my orb, a bocchi the rock sticker, and a sticker in the corner of the rear window from pearls place that looks like a smoothie), it has a dash cam near the rear view mirror, and cinnamoroll wheel and seat covers. The drivers side mirror has a big crack in it that's filled in with gray JB weld. The license plate is 587 QRX. We filed a report with PPD and the case number is 26-309808 and the number to reach the officer handling our case is 503 823 0097. If you have any information please feel free to reach out to us and please contact the officer with the case number. Thank you!

Basically what it says in the title, not sure if my ballot just didn't come with it, is it coming later? Is anyone else missing those?
