Laptop Request US Upgrading from my last laptop

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE**

US, 800-1200 dollars, mostly looking for new but open to refurb, 13-14", I mostly use it for pretty standard task like browsing internet and using word but I do also like to do some light gaming (e.g. slay the spire, teamfight tactics, balatro) and not needing super high fps or even for graphics to be maxed out just want them to be playable. Standard form factor is perfect don't really need a touch screen. I'm not needing insane battery life so something like 5 to 6 hours would be fine. Size is really the only thing I really care about I don't want it to be bigger than 14".

For context my last laptop is a razer blade stealth 13 from 2019 which has served me really well and for the most part and have loved. It has handled all the games I've wanted to play excellently to this day and I really liked the overall build quality and aluminum chassis. However, it has started to slow down pretty significantly to the point where downloading larger files, transfering data or having too many tabs open can sometimes cause it to crash. Additionally, the battery life on it has tanked and can only be left unplugged even when just browsing the internet for no more than an hour. I'm not sure why it has slowed down so much perhaps it is a RAM issue...?

Anyway suggest me a laptop!

Laptop Request UK General use laptop - UK, £700 max

Country

  • UK, ideally purchasing from a real shop like John Lewis or Currys for better buyer protection.

Budget

  • £700 max, lower better (£500 would be great if that's at all possible)

Are you open to refurbs/used options?

  • Much much prefer new.

Screen size

  • 14-16" is good

Weight limit

  • Not something I'd thought about, normal laptop bulkiness.

Purpose

  • Basic online browsing, watching youtube videos, online shopping, some light excel/office use, and playing OSRS (described in Intended usage section below).

Form factor

  • Standard clamshell laptop.

Intended usage

  • As above just basic internet and some office use for the most part.
  • I would also like to play Old School Runescape on it using Runelite (GPU plugin turned on, 117hd not). I understand this is not a particularly hard to run game and definitely won't need a dedicated GPU, but frame rate stability would be appreciated i.e. a rock solid 60fps no stuttering.

Desired battery life

  • Obviously the more the better but this isn't a huge priority.

Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

  • Build quality
  • Performance
  • Budget
  • Battery life
  • Size/weight

Info/Requirements

  • We'd like something fairly well built physically.
  • I'm allergic to bloatware/spyware/preinstalled crap running in the background. Everything will be nuked on day 1 and I'll use tools like WinAeroTweaker to make the thing I paid for mine. If a laptop comes with particularly offensive preinstalled crap it'll ruin my day, but not get in the way long term.
  • Been a Windows user for a long time but I would strongly consider the new Macbook Neo. It'll definitely be fast enough for the basics and people are saying it runs OSRS fine, and I know the physical build quality will be prioritised. It is right at the top of the budget though.

Laptop Request -Others Suggest a laptop under ₹60,000–₹70,000 for a BTech CSE 1st-year student

Hi everyone!

I am a BTech 1st-year student in India, and I am looking to buy a laptop within a budget of ₹60,000–₹70,000.

My main requirements are:

- Programming and coding

- College assignments and projects

- Running development tools and software smoothly

- Good battery life and build quality

- A laptop that will last for at least 4 years

I am confused about which brand and model to choose.

A few questions:

  1. How much RAM and SSD storage should I get?

  2. Which laptop offers the best value for money in this budget?

  3. Are there any models I should avoid?

Please suggest specific laptop models and share your experience if you have used them.

Thanks in advance!

Laptop Request US United States, ~750 USD

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Country

United States

  • Budget

750 USD

  • Are you open to refurbs/used options?

Yes

  • Screen size

14" and Up

  • Weight limit

Any

  • Purpose

Primarily general use, with slight emphasis on gaming capability.

  • Form factor

Standard, not opposed to 2 in 1.

  • Intended usage

Will be running Arch Linux on the device. Currently web-browser based things, would do more with more power. Would like to be able to run games up to and including Starfield or Oblivion remaster at 30 FPS minimum. Also, Blender capability would be appreciated.

  • Desired battery life

5 hours would be good.

  • Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

Performance, Size, Weight, Battery Life.

  • Info/Requirements

One of the most important features is that the Keyboard and Trackpad be nice to use. Similar to a Dell Pro 14 or MacBook, I am a fan of both of those. Beyond that, I would like the laptop to be as slim as possible, while still maintaining a good level of performance as listed above. To sum it up, looking for a "linux macbook" something well built and slim, but that has decent enough levels of performance.

Tech Support 🔧⚙️ new nitro 5: i5 + rtx 4050 or i7 + rtx 5050? ~22k difference, india

budget flexible up to ~1.9L. i game (valorant, gta v, some newer aaa) and edit youtube videos on the side, 1080p timelines. shortlisted the 2026 nitro 5 for the 16:10 screen and the hx chips. two configs on acer's store:

- i5-14450HX + rtx 4050 6gb, 62wh battery, around 1.63L

- i7-14650HX + rtx 5050 8gb, 73wh battery, around 1.85L

both have 16gb ddr5 (up to 32gb), 1tb ssd, 16" 165hz.

is the i7/5050 worth the extra ~22k for my use, or do i take the i5 and keep the money?
