Needs A Hug/Support im afraid of everything

so, I'm afraid of death. I've been in a terrible condition lately, I keep thinking about it and I can't calm down. in addition to all this, I have found serious symptoms and may have cancer (I will undergo an examination soon). I'm going crazy with all this stuff. I realized that there is literally danger everywhere and often you can't do anything about it. it all makes me very upset and tired. I wish I could stop being afraid of everything, but it's impossible

Advice Needed Constant anxiety 24/7

Hey everyone, first post here. I've been dealing with major anxiety since I was 16 in high school due to lots of bullying. Both mental and physical. I'm 28 now. I am always super scared to talk to people, go places with people I don't know, trying new things, ect. I constantly worry about people judging me and bullying me. I always tend to think negative too because of that. It's pretty much taken over my life. I lost 2 opportunities for great paying jobs because of this as well as many other things. I've tried meds and years of therapy/ counseling with little to no help. Every day when I wake up I get nervous to even go to the job I've been at for 8 years and I know everyone there. I'm lost on anything I can do. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Discussion Doctors using AI in sessions?

Hi guys! I just wanted to ask if anyone else has gone through this?

Because of my anxiety and panic disorder, I have to see multiple different people for different things to deal with. Today, I met with a person who started off the session by telling me she was going to be using some sort of AI-program (for what I’m assuming is note-taking because my mind went blurry after she mentioned it)

Is this new in the medical industry? What exactly does it help with? I go through a lot of really dangerous things at the moment, hence the heightened anxiety, and I’m not sure how it helps store my information or what exactly it does? Does anyone know?

Discussion What has helped you genuinely heal or improve from chronic anxiety?

Medication was a great quick fix for me, until i developed tolerance to SSRIs. Now on a low dose of a TCA and gabapentin, but looking for other ways to genuinely improve my anxiety as medication poop out is always a fear of mine. Also have klonopin available but i try to avoid daily use.

Just interested in hearing people’s thoughts on what really helped them. Ive tried meds, CBT, DBT hypnotherapy, somatic work, etc. Currently doing talk therapy and doing meditations with my therapist each week.

I had to take a break from work due to health reasons and that improved my anxiety a lot but nonetheless , it has returned and im once again struggling with physical anxiety.

Looking to hear any tips! give me your most random, funny, helpful techniques for living with anxiety. Sending hugs, its rough out here 🫂

Advice Needed How do you lower your anxiety levels at night?

I tend to experience quite a lot of anxiety at night. Probably because I think of my busy schedule for the next day. So I was wondering if anyone had tips on how to reduce my anxiety before I go to bed.

Advice Needed Waking up with doom/dread

Hi all,

As the title suggests, whenever I wake up these days I almost always have a sense of dread, this sickly feeling in my chest/stomach that something bad is happening or about to happen. Coupled with some anxiety of course. I find it really debilitating and it always makes the start of my day pretty crap.

I like to understand why I feel the things I feel, and I can't work this one out. It's like it's automatic.

Anyone have any ideas why I get this and, more importantly, anything I can do to combat it?

So far I've found just trying to ignore the feeling and get up and start doing things to be the best course of action.

Health PLS HELP! Anxiety+ Disassociation + Health

Hello everyone. I am a 20F and I have been experiencing the same symptoms for over a year now. I really don't get it because it went away and now its back again. So back story I got sick with come viral infection last year June 2025. After that experience I felt like my health physically and mentally went downhill. I went to the ER because my body felt all numb and cold all over and my heart would go crazy. All of these symptoms just to find out that I am completely ok. I did go to a PCP and they diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I use to be an avid gym goer and I lokey stopped it because of this. I had nothing wrong with my life. Life was great, I was in college and doing what I needed to and what I wanted. However, Fall 2025 was genuinely one of the worst experiences of my life. I mentally never felt so horrible ever. I would wake up and my body would just shake and I would have horrible thoughts that I never would thought to have. I would wake up and gag and I didnt eat well. Some days were good, but a good chunk I just felt horrible. I felt emotionless because I could not feel and could not cry at all. I would try to force myself to cry so I could feel something. My head would hurt and I would just sleep and feel horrible. I did manage to get through a little with the help of my spiritual journey and amazing loved ones. However, it was still hard some days. THen, when I came back home for winter break it died down a little. I could feel emotions and I didn't feel numb as much. (I use to feel like a numb feeling and my body would get cold). Anyways, January 2026 came and I felt very good. I was so happy that this seemed to be past me. I felt amazing but sometimes I would disassociate but not as much as I used to. Anyways, summer came of 2026 and I got travelers diarrehea. I went to the ER again cus I think I panicked. I also was stressed because of the hospital bill and my parents were on me about it saying its all in my head and just not so good things. I felt horrible. So I went to therapy. It helped a little bit, but I was still actively disassociating but it was not as bad as before. Anyways, college started again in Fall of 2026 and I was fine and honestly felt amazing. However, I do have heavy classes this semester but I am fine. Some days especially near my period I feel that numb feeling again. I will get up and my heart would race so bad that I feel numb and weak. I am conscious but it just hurts to move around like mentally. I would still have flare ups but nothing crazy. However, this past week I have been actively going to seek medical help. I have a PCP and got bloodwork and everything came back totally ok. I also got referred to a cardiologist since I had those heart palpitations. I went to the cardiologist and EKG and things came back fine. I did report to them like just uncomfortable chest discomfort. I also have breathing problems where its like Im trying to breathe in more air at some times. I would feel a little dizzy but nothing crazy. I just correlated all these issues with stress or anxiety ( I never been diagnosed with it). Im planning to get a monitor, echogram, and stress test done to see if my heart has anything to do with my issues. Anyways, this past weekend I went home and had one of the worst disassociation episodes ever. I was so uncomfortable and could barely sleep. My stomach was giving me issues and I thought it was probably something I drank. My throat was scratchy and just felt like closed up. I felt SOOOO numb and cold. It was so bad I would get dizzy when I get up to walk and couldnt go farther. I gagged but I dont feel like imma throw up. I REALLY NEED HELP! i really dont know why it came back and it sucks! I hated it because I know im fine as far as my bloodwork and most likely heart aspects of things. But, I am just wondering why this is just coming back again in waves. I really hate it and it hurts so bad mentally it hurts so bad. So, I dont know if it hormones related (it doesnt happened all the time) or like its all mental stress issues or if there is a physically underlying aspect of things. I have my PCP appointment again this week so Idk if I should get referred to a physciatrist or someone cus I dont know if its mental. But sometimes but gut area like stomach feels off and its hot and warm and causes my heart to race so I really dont know. I made a post last year about this same issue, but I just hate how it came back again that I need to do it again. Thank you guys! Pls any ideas or tips! Any doctors in the chat pls! I am college student and cant afford alot of medical help. I just would hate the fact thats its all in my head and I spending money for no reason. For mental aspects I kind of scared to go on meds, but if that helps then I guess I ll do it. Also, I dont know if also being a young woman has something to do with anything in the sense of my hormones. So pls! Any tips!

Medication Feeling Normal?

• Upvotes

Maybe this is a weird thing to post, but it's been on my mind a lot recently. I started taking zoloft about 3 weeks ago, I think 25 mg, and the only way I can describe how I feel is normal. But it's a conflicting feeling, because I also felt normal before medication. I honestly didn't feel like anything was truly wrong with me even after I was diagnosed. Ig I was just curious if anyone else felt similar after they started medication?

Editing this because I'm worried Im using the wrong sub/flair. If so I'm so sorry 🫠 this is the first time I've ever felt comfortable enough to post in a sub so Im not familiar.

DAE Questions No idea whats happening to me right now.

• Upvotes

21F, currently on 20mg Lexapro for anxiety/depression.

In the past 3 days I've had 6 episodes of super weird, quick panic/anxiety attacks.

It starts off as a weird memory of a dream, or just some disassociating memory. Like I can't explain it. It's like dreamy, but deja vu, but also just a weird memory of how something felt like last month.

Example: When I got my car back after not driving it for a month, the feeling was weird to drive it again. Yesterday, I suddenly remembered that weird feeling, then BOOM instant panic attack. My face gets fuzzy, my body gets hot & heat like runs down my spine, just pure sense of impending doom.

Nothing triggers it, it just happens randomly, and has happened twice a day for the past 3 days.

What the hell is this? DAE get these?

Medication Is this normal on week 2 of Zoloft?

• Upvotes

I have a mix of OCD and anxiety. I took Zoloft in the past and never had this side effect so it was scary. I'm more scared I'll die soon and am scared I'll develop suicidal thoughts despite not being depressed or suicidal in the past. I'm going to message my doctor but I'm just wondering if this is normal on the second week of Zoloft? Because I feel like my anxiety does get helped but then it gets worse a few hours later. But I heard side effects eventually go away so I don't know if I should wait it out and remind myself it's not real or change medications because I'm already on the lowest dose.

DAE Questions Anyone else gets fever like chills?

When I feel super anxious, I feel chills/tremors. The best way to describe them is that feeling right before you develop a fever that your muscles shake. But I mostly get them in my legs and when I’m very very anxious the rest of the body. I wonder what it is. I never got to find out. Adrenaline?

Health Feeling like i have dementia

Hello, I am a 20-year-old male. Lately, I have been feeling very strange. I experience frequent dizziness, a "foggy" or "stuffed-up" feeling in my head, headaches, and blurred vision. I also frequently "drift away" from my surroundings—a kind of disconnection—and I find myself forgetting things. Sometimes, I struggle to articulate words during conversations. I feel extremely tired, even though I get enough sleep. At times, this sense of disconnection is so intense that I even forget what condition I have; it feels as though I am on the verge of losing awareness of my own illness. My mood has also shifted during this difficult period. It is worth noting that I take 100mg of Zoloft due to a long history of anxiety. All of this leads me to fear that I might be developing early-onset dementia, some rare prion disease, or something else that is genuinely and negatively affecting my brain. I need help; I need to hear the truth. This has impacted my personal life to such an extent that I have stopped going to the gym, I no longer attend university, and I barely get out of bed.

Work/School Jobs help

I started a factory job last Monday because I needed one
As soon as possible. But I already have a pit in my stomach thinking about going back. I’ll get yelled out for a small mistake which cause me to snowball to worse ones. There’s just a lot of pressure and I started to freak out last Thursdays but managed to calm down. But early today I was going as fast as I can while also dealing with learning how to run and fix the machines and the guy training me said out of the blue if you not cut out for this tell me and I’ll have them switch you. And I don’t know if he’s doing some form of motivation or just trying to say I don’t belong there. Either way I feel my chest tighten and my stomach has a pit just thinking about going in. I made it home tonight and have been trying to distract myself with what usually keeps me calm or cheers me up but I can’t stop thinking about work and how I’m going to mess up tomorrow.

So I wanted to start looking and applying for another job to leave this one cause I can’t quit till I find another cause I need a job. But also is that the right thing to do. I don’t usually like to give up but I just feel awful and can’t quit thinking about work and what’s going to happen. If you think I should find a new job can you recommend some jobs that are better. I’m willing to do a lot I just don’t have a degree but willing to learn if they teach.

Also sorry for kind of a rant I just don’t know how to put what I’m thinking into words.

Medication Finally going to face my fears, and start taking Zoloft

Hi guys

I was prescribed Zoloft a few months ago when my emetophobia based ocd/anxiety was at its peak. However, I got home and fell into the endless pit that is “Zoloft” threads.

I took in hundreds of people saying how sick and nauseous it made them. How horrible it made them feel. How awful it was.

I refused to take it, straight up. I got the pill, stared at it for a bit, and then got so worked up I had a panic attack and had to throw it away.

I have been on SSRIs before. Lexapro and Prozac - and i’ve never had a single issue with either of them. Even when I always took those on an empty stomach. So I have pretty decent faith that i’ll be fine after i’ve had time to come to my senses.

I returned to my doctor today to discuss how i’ve been doing on my new Hydroxyzine prescription, and she brought up the Zoloft again. I told her I regret not giving it a try. She offered to send a new prescription, and I accepted.

I’m going to start it tonight. I think it’s 10mg or 20mg starting, and she told me to cut the pills in half for the first 5-7 days to ease into it more because nausea is one of my most dreaded side effects due to my horrible emetophobia.

I’m scared to start. Can I have some encouragement?

Medication Struggling to convince myself to take meds. Did SSRI’s stop your panic attacks?

I was prescribed Sertraline weeks ago and it’s been sat in my cupboard ever since.

When I see positive comments about it, I get excited and think right I can do, let’s start tomorrow.

But if I see a comment saying ‘still messed up years later’ or ‘it helps but I still have panic attacks,’ I feel completely demotivated and can‘t bring myself to take something that might leave permanent damage whilst not even stopping the panic attacks? That is the only reason I am wanting to take it as I’m agoraphobic and haven’t left my city in years as I can’t travel, so it’s important for me that whatever I take, targets the panic attacks (mainly adrenaline/flight response).

Did SSRI’s completely stop panic attacks for you? Of course, exposure, exercise and eating healthy are things I’m also doing to help.

Medication Trying to avoid Medication

Hi all,

I’ve come to terms that I really do have an anxiety problem I’ve been ignoring for years. I’ve been self medicating with L-Theanine, Vitamin D3+K2 and the occasional ashwaghanda w/magnesium.

I’m terrified of actual anxiety medication but it’s been harder to control with vitamins.

Have any of you found any other cures outside of the mentioned OTC stuff I mentioned?

Any suggestions would help

Health Cardiophobia and gutphobia

Hey,

I recently had a family member pass away, around 6 months ago. from his heart failing and I thought I was grieving okay.

Until about last month. I felt some chest pain while doing physical work at my job. I was drinking tons of energy drinks and eating whatever. I thought the pain might be my heart but couldn't get to a doctor. Around the same time I decided to quit meat and eat beyond and impossible meats instead.

That made me so bloated and gassy and quitting coffee just slowed everything else down. I got really paranoid and convinced myself it was probably acid reflux due to google. I cut my diet down and started eating less and less. Which made my gut worse. The chest pain came and went.

I finally broke down and decided that I was just making everything worse. I realized that my anxiety and under eating was causing genuinely worse health problems. I started eating regularly again and felt great. The issue is the reoccurring anxiety about any little pain or change.

My chest muscles still flair up when my posture is bad. I still react poorly to some bloating and gas. I still find myself scared of foods and drinks. I still question if my stool is normal enough yet.

Worst of all is I think about it constantly. All the time. I seek reassurance from people. I google just to make sure the symptoms aren't a problem. I peek at my stupid smart watch to make sure my heart is still beating. Its a big rough cycle. It interrupts my everyday and my work.

I have been to a psychologist who gave me some anxiety pills but its hard to not justify taking them. Talking to a therapist on Wednesday. I learned CBT tools a long time ago and I've been struggling to utilize them. I can distract myself for a little while with other things

Advice Needed CHS, Anxiety, Fear.

• Upvotes

Hi there! I’m a 21-year-old woman, and I’ve been hospitalized for CHS twice now. I’ve always dealt with anxiety, but it really spikes during CHS episodes—and honestly, it feels like it just won’t ease up. I often feel like I’m constantly unwell, which makes me super nervous about hanging out with friends because I’m afraid I’ll get sick. I know I won’t always, but I still worry I’m ruining everyone’s night. I had to throw up before I even got to a bar last weekend. When I got there, I wouldn’t even drink and I didn’t have fun either. Now this just keeps repeating each weekend. I make fun plans with my friends, but as soon as we get in the car to leave, I start panicking. I’ve been taking 40 mg of Celexa and have hydroxyzine plus other anxiety meds for the past couple of years.
It’s so weird to me because I’ll be completely fine and then once I get really sick, it takes me so long to get out of the mindset that I’m always going to be sick. I don’t know if it’s because I have a trauma bond to the hospital after going so many times because of my CHS.
Does anybody have any tips on how to not think the worst before you go out with your friends or do anything. I really just need to talk to someone about this because I feel so alone.
I would also like to add I used marijuana in between both CHS episodes ( obviously) put since my second episode, which happened at the end of September; I haven’t used since then.

DAE Questions Anxiety and jobs/work

• Upvotes

Has or is anybody too anxious to leave their current job and move on to a better one?

For me, I'm in a job that I don't particularly like but the idea of going for an interview absolutely scares the hell out of me, like I believe I'll be able to do the job once I'm in but the interview process really messes me up.

Anyone got any tips or advice? Or just going through the same thing?
