Discussion/আলোচনা Sleeveless and backless blouse
Why are Bangladeshi girls and women so conservative about clothing that they avoid wearing sleeveless and backless blouses?

I 16F ,live with my parents. They are particularly chill. Abt 3 months ago I started going out w my frnds almost daily and my dad found out ( he lives abroad and doesn't know I go out) so he threatened my mom that if she lets me get out of the house he'll divorce her or he will kick both me and my mom out of the house. But I don't like staying in. I don't have a good relationship with my mom because she is just..weird..idk how to explain this and this may sound very bad but she's the kinda person who'll change sides depending on her benefits. So staying at home is literal hell for me and I feel like I am missing out on life . I tried to manage her and tried to coax her to let me go out but she threatened to call my uncles( their behavior is reallyyy bad) . Now staying at home is literally making me lazier and more depressed that I ever was. At this point it's affecting my studies and I don't know what to do. I feel so trapped. And once I told her that I'll go out without her permission she said " Ami police er kache jabo tomar chacha der niea and police k bolbo je tumi amr control er bahire chole geso" . I feel like they are trying to repress me in every way they can and if I try to talk to my father he curses me and threatens that he'll stop paying for my studies or send me to the village. Wsidn?

Two powerful slogans hold deep significance for Bangladesh and its people: “Joy Bangla” and “Nara-e-Takbir — Allahu Akbar.” Sadly, dirty partisan politics has increasingly attached political identities to both, overshadowing their deeper historical and religious significance.
“Joy Bangla” is deeply rooted in the history of Bangladesh’s Liberation War of 1971. It was a powerful slogan of freedom, courage, national identity, and the struggle for independence. However, its close association with the Awami League has led many people to perceive it as merely a party slogan.
Today, someone saying “Joy Bangla” may be labelled an Awami League supporter, even if they simply wish to express their love for Bangladesh and respect for its liberation history.
But Bangladesh’s independence does not belong to any single political party, and neither should its history be confined to one.
“Nara-e-Takbir — Allahu Akbar” carries profound religious significance for Muslims. “Allahu Akbar” means “Allah is the Greatest.” It expresses our faith, our recognition of Allah’s supreme greatness, and our devotion to Him.
Yet, partisan politics has increasingly associated this religious expression with Jamaat-e-Islami. As a result, someone proclaiming “Allahu Akbar” may be immediately labelled a Jamaat supporter, even when they are simply expressing their Islamic faith.
But “Allahu Akbar” is not the exclusive slogan of any political party. It is a fundamental expression of faith for Muslims around the world.
So, where is the problem?
The problem lies not in these slogans, but in the politics that attempts to claim ownership of them.
A Bangladeshi Muslim can love their country, honour the sacrifices of the Liberation War, and remain devoted to Islam. Patriotism and faith are not mutually exclusive.
Political parties will rise and fall, but Bangladesh’s history will remain, and faith cannot be confined to party politics.
Let “Joy Bangla” represent our history of liberation and patriotism, and let “Nara-e-Takbir — Allahu Akbar” remain an expression of our faith—not political labels used to divide us.
🇧🇩 Joy Bangla!
☝️ Nara-e-Takbir — Allahu Akbar!
Do you think national and religious slogans should belong to the people rather than political parties? I'd love to hear your perspectives, even if you disagree with me.

In other countries, two consenting adults (18+) can stay at a hotel without much hassle. On the other hand, in Bangladesh, it’s hard to imagine being able to check into a hotel without facing numerous questions or being asked to provide various documents at the reception. Sometimes, the police even raid hotels.
Have you ever seen police in other countries randomly raid hotels when there is no suspected criminal activity or reason to believe that a criminal is hiding there?

I think its game over for Bangladesh. Now we have women defending pedophiles. She is saying that Huzur kissed the girl out of love for his student and not because he had any bad intention. She even told the story of her childhood when she used to sit on her madrasa teacher's lap and kiss her cheeks, she said it with such pride lol .

Forget about the police activities, as we all know how they behave, just think of the judiciary system! If this is the face of justice, just think how could you face the system even if you have the tiniest bit of dispute with some ruling party activists. Gotta get outta this hell hole.

When he stood up against the hujurs and asked us to support him I felt so much hope...like a light at the end of the tunnel, that something will actually be done about Touhidi Jonota and the unregulated Qawmi Madrasas but now he left the country. I almost want to feel angry but I cant. He was constantly getting death threat phone calls. His facebook page was hacked. Jubayer Tashrif who previously instigated a mob against Dipu Chandra Das and got him killed called a mob against him. They made heinous lies about him SAing the principal's wife and stealing money. The police were searching for him to arrest him when he did nothing wrong. He is a father, he has to be there for his child, we can't expect to throw his life away for a cause. It was too much to bear and came too fast. I just don't know if there is any hope for this country anymore...

"Two officials who attended the meetings said the government had held direct discussions with several Asian companies following the London meetings. None of the companies had raised objections to the PSC. This is the best PSC so far in our history.
Every possible incentive has been offered. The price is almost equivalent to that of liquefied natural gas (LNG), one of the officials said.
The officials also believe that the presence of an elected government has helped build investor confidence.
However, companies will benefit from these incentives only if they discover gas. If exploration fails, they stand to lose their entire investment."

Before anyone accuses me of jealousy, being a typical nerd or stuck up, I want to clear that I do help people during exams. But there's a really fine line between asking someone for a little help and constantly nagging.
I take exams seriously so I usually study alot the day before. I'm someone that easily gets distracted and sometimes my anxiety makes me forget the silliest stuff. Right now,I'm giving a really important exam but I'm stuck sitting beside a person that doesn't study a thing. To make matters worse, its my friend. I've known this person for just three weeks though and I had no idea about this habit. But I don't know how to tell this person to quit nagging me without souding rude. This person once called me "bhalo student howar natok kore" All because I'm really quite during classes. Ngl I'm a bit offended at this and her being the person who is annoying me in the exam hall is a bit funny.
Anyways, I've given two exams by now and each day she'd whisper loudly for answers, touch my hand to get my attention or write a little note during exams to get answers. These scare me shitless cause the guard is very strict. Idk what to do. This is my first time ever sitting beside someone this desperate during exams. Not to mention, these two exams were relatively easy and who knows what she'll do when the tougher subjects come up.
How do I approach this matter? How to tell her to quit this behavior without souding like a snob?

Who remembers watching this cartoon on BTV in his/her childhood?? People always talk about Godzilla, Thunder Cats, Woody the Woodpacker, Meena cartoon etc on BTV. But who else misses watching Ferdy the Ant on Friday?
