Home office - work/gaming/bourbon

Post image

Figured I'd share my little multipurpose setup. It's not atypical RGB-filled battlestation, but it's my space in the house.

I use it for WFH (when in town), gaming, watching sports, and unwinding with a good bourbon.

Always looking for ways to improve the setup, so I'd love to hear what you guys think. What would you change or add?

RGB Free Home office/bedroom setup - struggling to choose between my EC200 and EC300!

Recently added both the ProtoArc EC200 and EC300 to my collection of ergonomic office chairs. The EC300 looks a lot nicer but I’m curious, which would you pick?

Added a few warm lights to my setup

I recently added a few warm lights around my desk. I wanted it to feel cozier when I’m here at night, without the rainbow RGB look. It’s a small change, but this is finally the atmosphere I was going for.

My (Almost) Endgame Setup – MAGNUS Pro XL, RTX 5080 & OLED

Post image
91 Upvotes

This is my first post in a while! I've been slowly upgrading my setup over time and I'm finally getting pretty close to having everything I've wanted.

I say nearly finished, but I'm always finding something new to upgrade or add xD.

Thought I'd share my complete setup, along with a few future upgrades I'm considering. It's a bit of a long one!

PC Specs

  • Case: Corsair 6500X Dual Chamber
  • GPU: ZOTAC RTX 5080 SOLID OC
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K
  • AIO: Corsair iCUE LINK TITAN 240 RX LCD
  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF B760M-PLUS
  • RAM: 64GB DDR5 5600MHz (4×16GB)
  • PSU: Corsair 850W Gold
  • Storage: 2TB Samsung 990 Pro + 1TB Solidigm SSD
  • Console: PS5 Slim

Monitors

  • Main: AOC AGON PRO AG276QZD2 –1440p 240Hz QD-OLED. My first OLED and honestly the difference compared to IPS is incredible I did not think that it'd be such a upgrade.
  • Secondary: AOC 24G2SPAE – Had this one for a while, but the panel is damaged, so it's due for replacement.

Desk & Accessories

  • Desk: White Secretlab MAGNUS Pro XL
  • Desk Riser: White Secretlab Desk Riser
  • Monitor Arms: White Secretlab Dual Monitor Arm
  • Desk Mat: Grey Suede Secretlab MAGPAD
  • Cable Management: Secretlab Cable Management Kit
  • Lighting: Secretlab MAGRGB Strip + BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2

Peripherals

  • Keyboard: White Wooting 60HE v2 (Aluminium Case)
  • White Wooting Coiled Cable
  • White Wooting Wrist Rest
  1. Mouse: Black Razer Viper V3 Pro
  2. Mousepad: Black Artisan Ninja FX Zero Soft XXL
  3. Microphone: HyperX DuoCast
  4. Stream Controller: White Elgato Stream Deck+
  5. Extras: White Scuf Reflex & Black SCUF Reflex FPS controller, 3-in-1 Charging Dock, Miko Foot Massager

Audio

  • DAC/Amp: Creative Sound Blaster G8 – This is amazing for dual audio, ps5 and pc audio works simultaneously with no issues.
  • IEMs: Simgot EM6L
  • Headphones: Astro A40s – Honestly irreplaceable for me. Still haven't found anything I'd rather use.

Chair

Hbada E3 Pro – Probably my only real regret with the setup. It's an upgrade from my previous chair, but the armrests sit so high that I can't get into my preferred sitting position without raising the desk much higher than I'd like.

Future Upgrades / Plans

  • 4K OLED Monitor: Looking to upgrade to a 27-inch 4K 240Hz OLED, currently leaning towards the ASUS ROG PG27UCWM. My current AOC OLED would then become my secondary monitor. Open to recommendations, preferably glossy panels!
  • Keyboard Mods: Planning to replace the stock Wooting switches. Currently deciding between Gateron Jade Pros and GEON RAW HE switches, alongside new keycaps to match. Ideally something mostly white with black accents.
  • Microphone Arm: Looking for a good low-profile boom arm that isn't ridiculously bulky or space-consuming. Any recommendations that work well with my layout would be appreciated.
  • Chair: Eventually looking to replace the Hbada E3 Pro or simply just remove the armrests.
  • PS5 Pro: Potentially upgrading from my PS5 Slim, mainly depending on how GTA VI performs on the Pro compared to the standard PS5, if rockstar release the performance differences between the two

If anyone has recommendations for any of the upgrades above, or thinks there's anything else worth adding or changing, feel free to let me know! Always looking for ideas :)

Thanks to anyone who's taken the time to read through all of this, I know it's a bit of a long post xD.

Still a few things I'd like to improve, so any suggestions, recommendations or feedback are more than welcome!

Thanks again for checking out my setup, and I hope you all have a great day! :)

My first attempt...

Made a new desk today and rearranged everything.

Still a budget setup, need soms more lights to make it cozy and probably some plants or something. But it is such a massive upgrade compared to before.

Specs:

Laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad L380

PC:

Ryzen 5 9600x

32gb ddr5

Rtx5070

Some Asus tuf motherboard

Lian LI A3 mini

And of course the steamdeck on the side :)

I bought all of this just before the memory shortage.

Finally decided to get "Project U" done! It was a long, painful, and honestly pretty scary process, involving taking down the monitors and handling a lot of fragile stuff.

In total, I spent half the day tearing everything down and adjusting things to make sure everything would fit.

As usual, there were plenty of hiccups and things I never foresaw. One of them was the mini table stand. I assumed I could lower it, but the longer poles didn't have the correct holes to screw into the board. After a lot of struggling, I eventually managed to make peace with myself. 😂

Overall, I'd say it was a pretty successful upgrade!

I find the new setup much more comfortable, even though the portrait monitor now sits higher. Having it aligned flush with the main monitor helps put my OCD mind at ease. 😂

I also swapped the monitor positions using a new monitor arm mounted on a single pole, which allows me to adjust the height. The portrait monitor is now on the left, while the landscape monitor is on the right.

Previously, I set things up based on something I read online: the side monitor should be closer to your dominant eye for a better viewing experience.

O.o Boy, was I wrong!

Since my dominant eye is the right one, I subconsciously kept looking towards the portrait monitor, which was distracting me.

A few things I've managed to achieve:

  • Pushed the monitors further back, making the viewing distance more comfortable for my eyes.
  • Recovered more usable desk space.
  • Adjusted the angle of my power points, giving my speakers more room towards the edges of the table.
  • Aligned the speakers properly so they are no longer partially blocked by the monitor.
  • Positioned my hybrid amp and DAC upright.
  • Relocated the storage box underneath my desk.
  • Recovered some legroom.
  • Moved my Nintendo Switch 2 onto the desk for easier access. It was previously hiding behind the monitor, above my NAS.

A few things I did that weren't directly related to the desk:

  • Repasted my CPU with PTM. I discovered that the screws hadn't been tightened properly, and it's been three years! 😅
  • Improved airflow for my NVMe SSD. The stacked section was running pretty hot, so I removed part of the thermal pad to cool only the controller chip. Temperatures dropped by around 8–10°C!
  • Slightly repositioned some of my devices behind the monitors.

Any drawbacks?

The higher position of the second monitor means it now blocks part of my Asuna artwork. At least I can still see the important bits. 😂

Cable management, on the other hand, is still practically nonexistent. LOL.

I intend to keep the setup this way for now. I've also removed most of my plushies to free up desk space and keep everything neat and tidy.

Now, I'm deciding between the Mineral and Graphite finishes for the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered. I think it's time to sort out my health, too. When I'm not out and about, this is where I spend most of my time chilling, gaming, and editing photos.

Might as well make the space more comfortable for the long run! 😆
