Mushroom ID Request Mushroom ID request
I was just strolling through the field border next to an oak wood finding nought but gone over boletes when I stumbled across these. They aren't parasols, but can anyone ID them from the photos available? They stain slightly yellow on the cap when scratched. They had no obvious smell. There were loads of them growing in clusters of less than a handful per cluster. Stems were not connected at the base.

Mushroom ID Request Is this a porcini or will it kill me?
Hello! I'm relatively new to foraging, and I found this mushroom that I'm pretty sure might be a porcini. I'd love to hear any advice or tips on identifying it. Thank you.

Today’s foraging finds 🍄🟫✨🫶🏽
I’m a novice just learning how to ID mushrooms and gain knowledge about foraging the land at this time of year. This is the woodland on my doorstep and was fun to see so many varieties and guess what they were and if they were edible or not.
As someone who grows my own fruits and vegetables, has a bursting cottage garden, chickens and nature pond I love foraging in the summer and September time for berries etc but there’s so much I want to learn about autumn and winter to pass down to my children. It’s definitely a fun way to learn and educate and feels like a natural progression.
I keep journals so we can see what works and doesn’t, what went wrong, how we can improve— it’s all part of the fun 🙂

Big sweet chestnut?
Random thought of the day, why are foraged sweet chestnuts so much smaller than shop bought? I have a few chestnut trees near my work, they aren't the most productive but always give off a few small chestnuts as a nice treat.
Now over in Yorkshire for an autumn break and found a mega haul but even amongst this bumper crop I noticed there were very few if any chestnuts close to the size of chestnuts commonly found in supermarkets...are wild sweet chestnuts and store bought different varieties?

Mushroom ID Request Found in a town house garden
The mushrooms were found in a semi-circle arch type formation around a young willow.
Any ideas what they could be? And might they be edible?

Educational foraging 🍂
EDIT AFTER SOME COMMENTS:
This was our first forage, please read the post and caption as we would love any help and advice. I am happy to receive feedback and input 🙂🫶🏽
We have a thriving vegetable and fruit garden with lots of flowers, chickens, a wildlife pond and we spend so much time outside and in the woods and forests around us. Foraging berries and edible plants throughout the year, I thought this weekend it was time for us to learn about foraging in the later months of the year.
We had so much fun! And for our first time I thought this was a lovely amount. We have lots of edible mushrooms to add to our dinner, and some I need to ID with them, and teach them about that process, but watching my children learn how to grow, keep and forage this year has honestly been such a beautiful experience. I want them to know the value of being semi self sufficient and learning about the abundance land around us provides.
I have been keep journals, recipes and guides to hopefully pass down the generations.
Learning along with my children, teaching them, documenting it for the future— what a beautiful thing that is.
Anyway, I hope you like our basket, and don’t worry, we didn’t take much. We were respectful and responsible. That’s something they need to learn too 🍂🍄🟫🫶🏽✨

Finding Chanterelles in SE UK
Went out for an hour today as I wanted to check a Chanterelle spot. It was overflowing, as was another, and another.
Lovely find!

Harvesting green acorns?
Getting conflicting answers on this one. Watched quite a few videos and looked at a number of websites. Most say to wait til they turn brown and drop, however, some say it’s fine when they’re still green but come easily out of their cups. (Marcie Mayer actually states this in her book - Eating Acorns: Field Guide—Cookbook—Inspiration https://amzn.eu/d/06N8JugK)
These are acorns from some Holm oaks (quercus ilex). They have dropped a lot of acorns but I can only find empty cups under the trees so I reckon an animal has been having its fill. The only way to get around this is to pick them from the tree whilst still green.
Anyone harvest green acorns?

Mushroom ID Request ID on these, from Surrey area
Hi folks,
Wondering if I can get some help IDing some of these. Picked in some mixed forest, lots of chestnuts around if that makes a difference, edge of coniferous area too.
Feel I got a few of these OK:
1: Porcini
2: Chantarelle (one sad little one)
3: picked these near pines, assumed some kind of pine mushroom but now worried they're brown roll-rims or something?
4a/b pretty similar to each other, 4a just looked younger. Some kind of bolete?
Slippery Jacks
No idea! Also roll-rim territory?
Sorry bad photo, could be a smaller bolete, spongy area coming through underneath
Thanks for any help! Obviously not going to take any chances.
Cheers

First edible mushrooms of the year in Oxfordshire!
Finally after some proper rain some parasols are popping up. Still a desert compared to my previous 10 years of foraging. I’m disappointed but will visit the woods non stop for the next 2-3 weeks in hopes of more bounties 🙏🏼 Happy foraging to fellow mushroom lovers 🧡

Mushroom ID Request Neoboletus praestigiator?
SE England, near beech trees and hiding under some Heather with some chanterelles.
I believe it's a scarletina bolete due to the red dot matrix over the stipe as opposed to a mesh (which would've led me to a lurid bolete.)
Also doesn't have red particularly at the base of the stipe - haven't got the picture for some reason but yellow flesh throughout, with rapid blue -> black bruising especially on the stipe when cut. Pores yellow on margin and bruise very readily.
Smells nice, but very mild and pleasant.
Do I get to see if this is as delicious as it seems / I've heard?
Cheers
