Discussion IPad Pro 11 m5 battery health issue

my iPad's battery health and I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this on iPadOS 27.0.1.

My iPad is only 5 months old and it has already lost 8% total. The most frustrating part is the dropping pattern. It has been following a perfect, strict loop:

  • 96% at 200 cycles
  • 95% at 205 cycles
  • 94% at 210 cycles
  • 93% at 215 cycles
  • 92% at 220 cycles

It is dropping exactly 1% every single time I hit 5 more cycles.

Did anyone else experience this exact same issue after updating to iPadOS 27?

Question Cheaper ipad for drawing

Hello, I have decided that I would like to switch from ibis paint on my phone, to procreate on an ipad. I was wondering what cheaper ipad would work well for drawing (especially when using procreate), no lag and stuff. Id rather not get a second hand ipad because it could have some sort of damage to it, but if needed, I will.

Could anyone please give some suggestions? Especially if you use procreate, much appreciated!

In light of the new Mini announced and the price hike, I'm debating between getting an A17 model with more storage or the new one and was curious what the available storage on a 128 gig is? Thinking maybe i could live with that use a usb drive for extra storage...

Question Why did my iPAD battery drain 60% in an hour?

I used my iPAD on Sunday morning for one hour to tutor someone online. I was mainly using Goodnotes and had google meeting in the background but I’m so confused as to why 60% got drained in an hour.

iPAD Air 11-inch (M2)

Battery health: 91%, cycle count is 323

Bought it from Apple Store and have been using it since September 2024 (so only 2 years)

Can someone explain why the battery is so bad even though I’ve always looked after my iPAD to be honest.

Whenever I use Goodnotes (a note taking app) it drains a lot but it’s literally just note taking so how can it be that bad

Question HDMI out Orientation change

Hey there, my band uses an IPad for charts, and we want to put the charts on to two VERTICAL monitors. We currently use and HDMI splitter from Acer to send the signal two ways and charge the tablet. Is there any affordable way to change the orientation of the signal that way the vertical screen will work?

Thanks!

Discussion The new iPad mini’s landscape camera is another frustrating Apple compromise

The new iPad mini moves its front camera to the landscape edge, which means it sits awkwardly on the side when the device is held in portrait. For a small tablet that many people naturally use in portrait, this feels like another poor Apple decision.

Sometimes it feels as if Apple intentionally leaves one obvious thing out so people keep wishing for the next version. I am a longtime 13-inch iPad Pro user and use my iPad throughout almost every day, but I absolutely hate the front-camera placement and rarely use it for FaceTime. Apple could have kept a portrait-oriented camera or added a second front camera for portrait use. Instead, it saves the cost while the device remains expensive.

My biggest frustration on the iPadOS side is still the removal of the classic Slide Over and Split View experience from iPadOS 18. I have no interest in the newer windowing system, just as I never used Stage Manager. Apple should bring the old multitasking system back as an option instead of forcing everyone into desktop-style windows.

Does anyone else prefer the old camera placement and the classic Slide Over/Split View system?

iPhone 18 pro max is $1299 with the same specs and iPad mini is $699 with oled but 128gb starting and 60hz lol.

Question iPad for my two kids -9 and 10

Looking for advice- I want to get my two kids iPads for Christmas. They are 9 and 10 and going to want Disney , Netflix, YouTube, Minecraft, and a few other apps. I dont necessarily want to get them brand new ones, but want to make sure they can use them for at least a few years ( with updates, battery life, storage etc).

Is there a specific generation to look into ( or avoid) if I’m looking for used or refurbished ones?

iPadOS iPad won’t restore!

So my iPad went to the black screen of death. Plugged it into my Mac, did the buttons reset, put my phone next to it, entered the code etc. BUT, when I get to the last step which is actually restoring it, it won’t let me update or reset the iPad to get it working again? It just fails! Any ideas???

I bought an ipad Pro and Apple keyboard cover last year and recently I have been noticing black residue everywhere from where I have used it. Could the keyboard be disintegrating? It looks fine otherwise

Question Anyone switched from a regular iPad back to a Mini? Any regrets?

I've had my iPad 10 since 2023, but lately I've been seriously considering replacing it with an iPad Mini.

I use mine almost every day, mostly for reading magazines on Libby, scientific e-books and the occasional public domain book. I also use it to watch films, documentaries and series on planes and trains, as I travel roughly every two months.

The thing is, I've increasingly found my iPad too big, even at home. It's not particularly convenient to carry on the Tube, and when travelling it takes up quite a bit of space in my bag. I don't watch blockbusters or anything particularly visually spectacular on it, so I'm not too concerned about losing screen size for films.

For those who've switched from a regular iPad to a Mini, did you find the smaller screen jarring? Particularly for reading magazines, illustrated books or PDFs? Or did you quickly get used to it?

My other dilemma is the price. I find it difficult to justify spending around £600 on the latest Mini, especially when my current iPad still works perfectly well.

Would a refurbished Mini 6 still be a sensible purchase in 2026, or is it getting too old in terms of future iPadOS support? Ideally, I'd like something I can keep for at least another four or five years.

Interested to hear from anyone who's made the switch!

Question Hello! So i've been looking for an ipad pro and i ve found an ipad pro 2022, 12.9 with 256gb for 300 euro.

The description is vague: had contact with water, went to service and they ve cleaned everything out but they told me the screen needs to be replaced. In the pictures the screen seems to be working, so i asked for more pictures on different backgrounds and it seems perfect. He also told me that he thinks the service guys are trying to scam him so i decided to give it a try, since i can just refuse the package after checking it. He didnt exactly tell me what is wrong with the display

After i ordered it, he told me to have a mouse nearby so it would be easier to acces. What do you guys think?

Question How do I get books onto my iPad?

Post image

This is ridiculous.. how do I get books onto my iPad without having to do the whole "SYNC THE WORLD" button?

There's books on it I've put there, so I've done it in the past, but can not figure out what I did then or now.

Can I not manage them in the Books program on my Mini so I can have them nicely organized or anything?

Question I decided to give my second monitor for my Mac to my son for his room, and am now running an iPad Pro M5 for all alternate screen jobs. It's a bit of a mixed bag, and I'm very happy with it but miss the second monitor, nonetheless. Looking for anyone with tips / ideas to better the experience.

The iPad has been awesome for note taking, great as a second monitor, but there's no accounting for size. I used to run a vertical 28" Gigabyte monitor, and as much as I like the iPad - a lot - I'm not sure I can recommend the iPad strictly because of the OS. It's better, but it's just so heinously limited compared to MacOS. Is it good to have a mobile, Dual OLED screen with all my cloud synced stuff on it? Oh, yes. Yes, it's good.

But still .... if you've got any tips to improve my experience I'd love to hear them.

Question Does a PS4 controller work on an iPad without a PS4?

For context: I’m planning to buy an 11th-generation iPad. Since I don’t really play games on tablets—preferring other devices instead—I’m thinking of getting a PS4 controller to use for gaming on the iPad. However, I don’t own a PS4; would I need the actual PS4 console, or is it enough to just buy the controller?

Question Is renewing ipad air M2 applecare worth it?

I’ve had this iPad for about two years now, I think, and I’ve taken good care of it. Recently, around 2–3 months ago, I got a small scratch on the screen, but it’s almost invisible unless you really look for it.

Since I’ve had AppleCare, I’ve been a bit careless with it. For example, I use a case that’s only held on magnetically and don’t have a screen protector. Having AppleCare has given me peace of mind, but now that it’s expired, I have 12 days left to renew it or let it go.

It costs $65 a year, and I’m not sure what the best option is. What do you guys think?
