Hello all! We have a new and growing Discord, more than 100 comrades have joined in the first month!
If you had attempted to join the Discord through the auto-mod response, or through the sidebar's link, you were formerly directed towards a dead server. Now, the server is pretty much set up.
We are also looking to start a book club soon using the Discord to meet, but will have discussion posts here too for those who do not want to participate in the discord.
It is still pretty bare bones, we have roles and channels set up however suggestions can be made *within the server* on things that could be added. We are looking at ways to get more people engaged and looking for suggestion on activities we can do as a community related to socialism.
For now, here is the invite link, join away!

Greetings from General Janone's Army. If you're unnaware, Brasil has just raw dogged fascism and re-elected leftist leaning president Lula, in big part thanks to a huge digital campaign.
The opposition candidate, Bolsonaro jr. , son of Bolsonaro Senior (currently arrested for a coup attempt), has illegally fled to the US, as an attempt to dodge money laundering criminal investigations, as he's going to lose parliamentary immunity.
We're all afraid he will try to get an US backed military intervention on Brasil, or just push for more tariffs, like his brother has already been doing, whom, btw, is also hiding in the US. Best case scenario would be a deportation so he can face justice here, but just spreading the news of how horrible he is is good enough. (here, someone made a game about all his crimes, if you're interested)
So, finally to the point. Brasilians are still very engaged on social media, If you post about Brasil or Bolsonaro's escape, you'll get a huge boost in views and engagement. Alternatively, I ask you to engage with posts about Brasil or Bolsonaro's escape yourself in order to help Brasilian democracy.
If you have made content on Brasil, I'd love you if you could share them here so we can like and engage with the post.
Big ups from Brasil.
(note to mods, I wasn't asked by the creator in the picture to promote her, and I didn't censor her name as I'm talking about her in a positive way)

The Facta liberal government was ineffective in countering the coup, and the King refused to declare martial law, leading to a 20-year long dictatorship.

Freedom of religion also means freedom FROM religion. No more cultists indoctrinating young children against their will as soon as they’re born. Now they have the freedom to grow up and CHOOSE. Forcing children at a young age to adopt a religion is abuse.

The video watch party is probably one of the most effective recruitment mechanisms for modern leftist organizers.
Recipe is as follows:
Ingredients
1 video screen or projector
25+ Chairs and tables
Free food and beverages
Find movie/documentary for screening. Vice documentaries about the congo, Anti-imperialist documentaries, palestine, ICE, Epstein, etc.
Advertise the watch party, time, date and that there will be free food
Once day arrives, greet everybody, have them get food, chat, get comfortable
5 minute intro speech by organizers explaining what it is and why they are showing the film
Watch movie
This is the essential part. Split the watch party into groups of 5 with one organizer in each group to guide the conversation
Guiding question time. How does this affect your life? What are root causes? What can be done?
Get everybody back together, and immediately advertise your next event (rally, fundraiser, group meeting)
----
Excellent avenue for recruitment and mobilization. It is more effective than power points. Power points are boring. Documentaries generally have the rhetorical styling baked in, that shit is plug and play.
Solidarity and good luck out there.

Hey everyone. I am trying to get more into communist ideas. I agree with the general principles of leftist ideology. But there is a point that I always hear defenders of communism talk about, and it is mind-boggling to me. It's the way they always respond to claims by right-wing people that "communism has never worked in practice": "well, that is because it wasn't communism!". Then, what was it? What would the real version be? And why have the "implemented forms" of communism generated misery and famine?
