What if Mojang had built the server ecosystem themselves from day one?
Serious question for Minecraft server developers.
Imagine Minecraft had shipped with an official, fully exposed server API from the very beginning, maintained alongside the game itself, instead of leaving the community to build Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, and everything around them.
Now imagine that API exposed everything: entity AI, physics, collision, world simulation, networking, chunk loading, redstone, the tick loop, and the internal systems that server owners and devlopers currently have to work around.
Not just a plugin API. The entire server, designed to be extended.
Think about what that could mean:
- Server mechanics that can be rewritten at the engine level without fighting upstream patches.
- Plugins that survive Minecraft updates without depending on fragile internals or contant remapping.
- Entirely new server architectures, simulation models, and performance optimizations while keeping vanilla clients competible.
- Custom dimenssions, physics systems, AI, and gameplay mechanics that go far beyond what conventional plugins can achieve.
- Multiple server implemantations sharing a stable API instead of reinventing compatibility with every update.
And here's the part I'm most curious about:
What are we NOT building today simply because the server was never designed to let us build it?
Forget the usual answers like better TPS or more players per server.
I'm talking about things that would fundamentally change what's possible in Minecraft multiplayer, things that would be impractical, fragile, or nearly impossible to implement on Paper today.
What would you build if you had complete control over the server engin,e, a properly designed API, and zero dependence on NMS?
I want to hear the technically ambitious ideas, including the ones that sound completely ridiculous at first

Do you use utility blocks? Do you use doors as something other than for entrances? Do you use lodestone to decorate? Which blocks would you never use? What's your opinion on it?

Minecraft is a vast, blocky sandbox where imagination is the only limit. From the moment you punch your first tree, you embark on a journey of survival, creativity, and endless adventure. Whether you're building sprawling empires, battling formidable bosses like the Ender Dragon and the Wither, or simply exploring the depths of the Deep Dark, every block you place tells a story. It’s a game that perfectly balances the quiet peace of farming and building with the adrenaline of a raid or a late-night creeper ambush. Ultimately, Minecraft is more than just a game—it’s a canvas for your wildest ideas, a place where you can be a Master Trapper, an AI hacker, or just a traveler with a trusty black cat, always ready for the next journey.

How far from the player is the zombie spawner activated? I found these two spawners and I'm not sure if it would be possible to create a farm from them. I'm from bedrock. My version is the latest available.

No sure if this has been posted but today I need lots of stripped logs and placing a bunch down of normal logs then having to strip each one then mine each one again get annoying so I was thinking of a stripper that acts like a furnace and can give a new byproduct called bark which can be used for fuel other things kinda like leaf clutter. If there a mod please share thanks.

I was just casually exploring underwater and this little mf showed up 💀😭
A BABY DROWNED WITH A TRIDENT AND A NAUTILUS SHELL 💀💀
I swear I've never seen this combo before 😭
Bro is literally smaller than my shield but somehow more dangerous than half the mobs in this game 💀
I had to take a screenshot because WHAT IS THIS LUCK 😭🔥
P.S. Enhanced the underwater lighting for the cinematic vibes 😂🔥 The encounter itself is real!

i redeemed it through my XBOX employee benefits and I got realms pro. It appears to say I can have up to 51 players at once. is this a public tier?

considering you can go from a wooden pickaxe to full iron armour in less than half an hour, copper tools and armour are kind of useless. if you could enchant them with loyalty, causing them to return to the nearest copper chest when you die, it would give a real incentive to use them even in late game. loyalty could even be a default property that doesn’t require an enchantment similar to how netherite doesn’t burn in lava by default. i for one would use copper tools even though they’re substantially worse than netherite if I knew there was no risk of losing them if i die

First of all, I'm not against the SIFT update. I'm actually curious to see what it brings to the game. But I keep thinking: shouldn't Mojang focus on improving the game we already have before adding even more content?
I've been playing Minecraft for years. I started on PC, moved to PS3 and PS4, and returned to PC. I played Java Edition for a bit, then legacy edition but since 1.18, I've played Bedrock Edition, in the same world.
And over time, I've noticed the same recurring issues: bugs, parity problems, performance issues, and features that still feel incomplete.
Bedrock Edition with frustrating bugs, performance problems, and parity issues that have been around for years. The off-hand limitations are just one example. I'm sure Bedrock players could fill an entire thread with others.
Java Edition has a different problem. I'd really want to know how many players run the game completely vanilla, without performance mods like Sodium or Optifine, or datapacks that improve the experience. The modding community has done an incredible job filling gaps and giving players options that the base game doesn't offer.
And in the shared experience, I think Minecraft's world itself could use more attention. Some biomes still feel empty, exploration can lack atmosphere, and certain structures and dimensions need more polish and improvements. Updates sometimes introduce features that feel unfinished or leave players still waiting for update improvements like experimental feature. Even the menus and inventory experience could use a serious rethink, especially on Bedrock.
I'm not saying every one of these problems should be fixed right now. But they raise a bigger question about Mojang's priorities.
Minecraft have the biggest community in history of video game with a lot of modders, map makers, technical players, builders, and longtime fans. Thousands of ideas have already been developed, tested, and refined by people who understand different aspects of the game.
Imagine Mojang working more closely with these communities to identify recurring problems, evaluate ideas, test potential features, and help prioritize improvements. Not blindly implementing every popular suggestion, but using the community as big source of expertise and feedback.
Mojang often celebrates its community, call us “loved community”. But I think that relationship could go beyond showcasing creations, promoting spin-offs, and selling merch. Players could have a more usefull role in helping improve the core game.
To be clear, I'm not against the SIFT update. I just think that this update look like a cherry on top of a unfinish cake.
New dimensions, mobs, and mechanics are exciting. But performance, parity, ambiance, polish, and long-standing bugs matter too.
So, what do you think about it guys. Should Mojang keep prioritizing new content, or dedicate more updates to fixing and improving the foundations of Minecraft? And what could be the first thing we want them to address?

This Minecraft portrait depicts American figure skater and 2026 Olympic champion Alysa Liu.
The new cushions were used for her face: black cushions for her eyes; red cushions for her lips; and white cushions for her teeth. For her iconic halo hair, where she adds a new stripe each year, like how trees grow a ring yearly, it is represented by customized banners.

Hi, my name is Morgan. I’m Brazilian, and I met someone from Argentina online; we really want to play Minecraft with mods together.
We’ve already tried Radmin VPN and the Essential mod—I even paid for a Minecraft Realms subscription (even though it doesn’t support mods)—but every option is so laggy that we can’t even move.
We want to play version 1.20.1 using Forge. I even have the modpack all set up—if anyone could help me with this, I’d really appreciate it; I’m going crazy here!
As for Aternos, it doesn’t have all the mods I want to use, so that’s not really an option for me (unless there’s a way to upload files from my own PC).

Would you like the nightmare mechanic from Beta to come back?
With the introduction of straw beds and generally of how op beds are, I feel like it would be a great way to balance the beds. Maybe have phantoms spawn and wake you up from their screeching sounds instead of spawning if you haven't slept for enough days?

Hey so my friends and I have a realm, and set up base near a village. We've been worried about our villagers turning into zombies again so I decided to add walls around the entire village. There is no possible way to jump over and I've checked for holes at least 15 times all around yet somehow the golems and villagers seem to escape? Images to show what the walls look like. What am I doing wrong or is this some odd glitch? :( Any advice would be appreciated thank you
