We are going to the OSU Oregon game and we are taking my son and nephew and they are 13 and this is their first game. I want to make this experience the best trip ever. Most of the add ons are for kids 12 and under, so they just missed the cut off. Whats the best way they can get some high fives? We are sitting in 9C so we dont think we will be able to make it down close to the field. We are driving in from Tennessee. These kids would never forgetting getting a high five from the GOAT! So anyone have any tips and tricks??

Academics Yes, This Spring You Can Earn College Credit for Playing Video Games: KNSFHP 1186 🎮

Hello everyone! I'm Dr. Price, and this spring (2027) I'll be teaching a class on esports/e-gaming, with some video game history mixed in. You'll spend a lot of class time playing games from a variety of genres. Some of the titles we've covered in the past include:

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Rocket League
  • Overwatch
  • Valorant
  • League of Legends

I'm currently debating adding Pokémon Champions to the list, and I'm always looking for suggestions for future semesters.

If that sounds like a good way to spend a Tuesday morning, look up KNSFHP 1186 - A Launch into Competitive E-Gaming when you register for spring semester classes.

Course details:

  • No extra costs. The course provides all the consoles, controllers, PCs, games, and other gear. There is no textbook to buy either.
  • Grading is based on quizzes over what we cover in class, a skill test for each title, plus participation and attendance.
  • No final exam or final project.
  • In-person only. We meet Tuesdays from 10:05 to 11:55 a.m. at the Ohio State Esports Arena in Lincoln Tower.

Want more gaming in your schedule? There are a ton of great gaming classes on campus; below are a few I recommend.

  • ENGLISH 2463: Introduction to Video Games Analysis
  • COMM 3513: Video Games and Society
  • MUSIC 2254: Video Game Music

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments, and I'd be happy to answer them.

Go Bucks!

Question Joining a sorority

Hello! I am an incoming freshman hopefully attending OSU. I am really considering joining a sorority. I am a nursing major and I think it would help me make a lot of good female friendships! In highschool I was not very popular, and more of an introverted band kid- so I’m hoping to branch out and meet more people in college.
I am wondering if people WHO HAVE SORORITY EXPERIENCE can let me know how expensive it is, and the housing situation. Also, is it possible to make real friendships in sororities?

Parking / Transport Any alternatives to CampusParc?

Hey y’all,

I was planning on getting a parking permit next semester and was talking to my parents about it, and my dad suggested trying to see if there were any alternatives to paying for a permit. Does anyone know of places near campus that someone could park a car (paying or free)? My dad said I should just park it on the street somewhere but I think that’s a stupid fucking idea. If anyone has tried anything like this please lmk!

Help Looking for professional photographer in OSU area.

As said in title I am looking for a photographer who is a professional. Sorry not interested in hobbyist. Last time I did pictures I did a hobbyist they did not turn out well. Any rate will do no limit.

Although I may do some photos shoots at OSU I prefer to be more outside and various places in Columbus. If you don’t have transportation. I can provide. The photos I desire are ones that be used professional head shots like for LinkedIn. Also some for holiday photos and for dating profiles. So if your good in that range that would be best.

Direct message me if you can help. In comments linking to a service would do.

Thanks I wish I could put this in more professional terms but I am unfamiliar with photography.

Parking / Transport Schottenstein Center Early Parking

Hi! I am going to see Olivia Rodrigo on the 29th and was wondering which parking lots near the Schottenstein Center open early enough? I have VIP tickets, so I am definitely planning to get there earlier than 3:30 which is the time where the lot nearest to the center becomes available. Can I still park there anyway? Thanks

I didn’t do great on the first accounting exam and realized my study methods for the class aren’t cutting it.

for people who are currently in the class or previously took it and succeeded, what study methods helped the most? doing the practice problems, studying quiz questions, in class problems, lecture videos, etc.

Question Want to transfer to OSU

I’m currently a freshman at the University of Kentucky, but I’m planning to transfer to Ohio State because I want to switch from nursing to finance and accounting. I’m originally from Ohio, and I can see myself living in Columbus after college. A big reason I’m interested in OSU is Fisher and the opportunities it could provide for internships, networking, and a career in finance. Beyond academics, I also love the idea of going to a big school with a huge alumni network, football games, a fun social scene, and a city with a lot going on.
My current plan is to potentially start at OSU Mansfield in spring 2027 and move to the Columbus campus in fall 2027. I know the regional campuses are different from the main campus, but I’m wondering if it’s worth taking that route to get to Columbus sooner and safer rather than staying at UK and applying directly to Columbus for fall 2027.
For current OSU students, what do you genuinely love about Ohio State? Do you feel like it has lived up to the hype, and do you think the opportunities, social life, alumni network, and overall college experience make it worth attending? I’d especially like to hear from anyone who started at a regional campus. Was it worth it, how was the transition to Columbus, and did you feel like you were truly part of OSU? I’m trying to get a better idea of what makes OSU special and whether starting at Mansfield for a semester is a good way to get there.

Academics Christopher Martin or Andrew Baldwin for Ochem 1?

Those two are the only two options I can choose from.

I've heard Baldwin has really hard exams but provides a lot of practice material to help. I've also heard that Martin's exams are easier, but he is a newer professor who doesn't teach as well and doesn't provide a lot of materials to study.

Basically my options are a hard-af professor that gives a lot of material to study or one with an easier exam that doesn't teach as well. I'm really torn on what's the best pick. Does anyone have any more insight?

Whatever I choose it’ll be with Physio 3200

Help Any affordable mechanics? On or off campus!

I feel embarrassed to post this since i genuinely don’t know anyone around campus nor Columbus OH in general. My car Driving “D” signal isn’t blinking nor working so I can’t drive the car anywhere it’s risky. I’m assuming it has to do with the transmission but I’d rather have someone with experience to check the car hook out.
I want to know if anyone here knows a mechanic that can come over since I live off campus (super close to Union) please let me know

Discussion PSA: if you want to do music in college but are not a music major, there are still many options for you!

I just wanted to say this, since I feel like a lot of people think if they aren't pursuing music professionally then they're "locked out" of the music programs at the collegiate level, or will be way behind everyone else.

Whether it's choir, pop bands, jazz big band, jazz combo, wind band, or orchestra, there are at least three hierarchical tiers of groups for each ensemble. Campus strings, university band, and jazz workshop for instance, are all three practically designed and intended specifically for non-majors.

There are classes available for private lessons for non-majors, meaning if you took piano lessons in highschool and really liked them, that is still open to you at the collegiate level without needing to be extremely good at piano. If you're able to pay out of pocket, there are also plenty of music students and grad students who will be excited to give you lessons themselves, often for much cheaper than a professor.

There are over 100 practice rooms within the music building, and while they are prioritized for music majors, you are still fully able to book a room or even just stroll into the music building and find an open room.

It's a very common story that someone did band or took piano/violin/whatever lessons or did youth orchestra in highschool, loved it, but didn't love it enough to pursue it as a career and thus totally stopped playing after highschool. I've heard this from students, and I hear it very frequently from adults who miss it and wish they had continued playing after highschool. I want to say this: if you miss it, then you can still do it!! I'm a music education major so I am biased, but I think music is one of the most important things for our quality of life in this world. It enriches our souls and unites us across languages and across countries and across continents. If you want to do music, then do music. If you love it then keep loving it, if you miss it then find a way to bring it back into your life. There are so many opportunities for you no matter what your skill level is, and life is too short to discard something you love because it "isn't useful" to you.
