Having a Lazy Sunday with a slight headache. So my brain unload here to Reddit. Long but I like reading stuff like this so maybe you do to, or will be inspired to do your own challenge.
One of the ways I like to save money is to challenge myself to see how long I can go before grocery shopping again. Noteworthy - it is a single household and I buy bulk meats and multi pack frozen vegetables.
It has been 16 days since my last grocery store shopping except for a few snack items bought here and there.
I am hoping not to grocery shop even for snacks for at least 5 to 7 more days. I could go longer but I am running out of fresh produce. I get cranky without regularly eating vegetables a couple of times a day and preferably fresh.
I have to pick up a perscription at Costco. I know this will be a hard trip because I usually buy at least tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, celery and green beans every trip to Costco; and I am craving pumpkin pie and/or cheesecake. Their cheesecake freezes well (that's my excuse, 😁).
I usually eat 2 meals and @ 3 snacks items. Typically a late breakfast or lunch, and late dinner.
Today's Sunday meals - Protein Shake, Cheese and Crackers, Peanuts. Dinner will be Steak, Brocolli, Baked Potato or Garlic Ciabatta Roll. Maybe a late night snack.
Mix and Match for the remainder of the week is as follows.
Monday - Milk and Cereal or a PB&J sandwich, and dinner of Egg Fried Rice with mixed Vegetables made with soy sauce, fresh garlic and ginger, and a couple of snacks.
Also going to see if I have all the ingredients to make Butternut Squash soup which I think I do.
Tuesday - Oatmeal, Leftover Egg Fried Rice, Can of Lentil Soup, Apple and snacks, Apple
Wednesday - Oatmeal, Protein Shake, Apple, Tunafish, Soup - either Butternut or Homemade Chicken Soup from freezer.
Thursday - Scrambled Eggs with Bacon, Snacks, Chicken with Vegetables and Ciabatta Rolls
Friday - Cottage Cheese and Canned Peaches, Protein Shake, Pasta with Bolognese Sauce.
Saturday - Oatmeal or Eggs with Bacon if I still have eggs, Snacks and Trader Joe's Frozen Shrimp Scampi with a frozen vegetable \~ first time trying hopefully it is good. Snack for the night likely Peanuts or popcorn.
Next Sunday - still have foods but running low or out of eggs, milk and produce. So after 23 days I am pretty sure this will be the day I go to the Grocery Store.
If interested, below is my mental food inventory for the coming week, what I have remaining for meals off the top of my head. It will be interesting to see what else I have that does not come to mind.
