Discussion Can we ban all “what’s the best race” posts, please?

Lately the sub has been getting flooded with these kinds of post. And they all have the same answer: play whatever you like, racials are bound to change, it’s only a 2% increase, etc.

Instead of asking specifically about which race to choose, maybe we should encourage people to have discussions about the racials in general? Then maybe we could all learn a bit from these posts.

Discussion How sick would a Furbolg Player Race be! (Repost)

Reposted because Im a dummy and used an AI image :(

It would be soooo awesome if they eventually released a furbolg player race for the both factions!! Obviously not a launch thing or even a topic discussed by blizzard as far as Im aware, but it would be the coolest!

The furbolgs only directly allied with the night elves in WC3, however, they have a deep reverence for the tauren, and both the alliance and the horde have already sent emissaries asking them to join in lore.

So having furbolg as a multifaction player race, like the skyborne would be an amazing fit for them. Id imagine them kind of like the Native Americans during the revolution war, where many factions allied against the Americans and many others allied with the Americans. with the humans, orcs, and dwarves all tearing up their beloved earth mother Im sure blizz could work them into joining one side or another making deeply personal and familial driven choices to join one or the other.

I also feel like blizz could work this into a narrative where the horde and alliance grind rep for a limited time event or something which each angers a different clan of furbolgs leading to each joining the opposite faction for protection and justice. It would feel like a gameplay driven reason to add these factions into the game, liek we all had a part in this race becoming unlocked.

This would also help blizz with the dev time on that race allowing them to pour more resources into making them better designed overall. (as they wouldnt have to make a companion race for the other faction if they did so.)

Discussion Will these promotional mounts be instantly unlocked for players at 40 and 60? Seems like a bad idea with everyone on the same mount early on

Yes, the racial mounts are cheaper now. But they're still more expensive than free and that's a big difference

EDIT- Looks like Forever will give people 1 free racial mount when they purchase the required training so this store mount isn't actually too big an issue

Feedback Please make Plainsrunning as a lvl 40 mount option

Plainsrunning at lvl 40 as mount alternative

Dear Blizzard Devs,

please give us Tauren Players the option to a +60 % mount at lvl 40 that we can „cast“ to be just faster on our own without a mount. Also do not remove the option to get a mount instead. It‘s just a visual change option.

Thank you kindly in regards.

Art and Media How I’d Design Blademasters in Forever (Gear Set vs New Class)

Post image
0 Upvotes

(Image made in MS Paint)

I was thinking about how Blizzard could implement playable Blademasters into Forever, and figured a Gear Set linked to both quest chains and raid drops would work better than a new class. So, here’s my design!

The set would include the Weapon, Back, Chest and Shoulders (not shown in image), and 2 Trinkets:

- Blademaster’s Sword/Axe/Glaive (2-Handed sword, 2-Handed axe or Polearm) - Choice of Reward from level 40 Warrior quest, akin to Whirlwind Weapon quest
- Blademaster’s Banner (Back piece) - Reward from level 50 Warrior quest
- Way of Wind (Trinket) - Reward from level 60 Warrior quest, where you prove your worth to the wandering Blademaster, Samuro.
- Blademaster’s Beads (Chest piece) - Raid drop
- Blademaster’s Pauldron (Shoulder piece) - Raid Drop
- Mirror of the Blademaster (Trinket) - Chase Raid Drop with a low drop chance

The quests for the first 3 items would be a chain given by Ronakada, a Blademaster who acts as the Warrior trainer in Orgrimmar; I think you might be able to balance out the Horde-exclusivity by giving Alliance a similar Mountain Thane quest chain in Ironforge, but that’s not what I care about here tbh

I’m not completely sold on the Set bonuses I chose, but I like the idea of utilizing Spirit on a Blademaster build; my goal was to give the weapon you get earlier on a chance to be stronger in the set with some powerful bonuses once you get some drops from raid

Finally, as a nod to the Blademaster’s origins in the Burning Blade clan, I think it would be cool to add an Alchemy Recipe for Blazegrease as a raid drop; it would act as a weapon buff, giving your melee attacks a Fire damage proc. I don’t think this has to be limited to Warriors, I just think it would be a cool addition for them to use.

I think this would be a great method to introduce other “Hero classes” to Forever, like Warden, Dark Ranger, etc. without making completely new classes from the ground up

Let me know what you would change or tweak; obviously the numbers I came up with can’t be balanced until we see what actual items look like, but it gives us a starting point.

Cheers!

Question Why Tauren use mounts at all?

I've never played wow in my life, this is a newbie perspective.

This cool dudes have run fast passive and then start using mounts at level 40 instead of getting ability to do what mounts do? Disappointing.
I just want to be even faster cow.

Discussion Warning: you cannot use your Battle.net balance to purchase a 12-month subscription bundle and support's response is to tell you to spend another $170

I recognize that this may not be news to many of you but, to anyone that it is, I want to warn you not to purchase Battle.net currency if your intention is to use that currency to pay for one of WoW's various subscription bundles (particularly ahead of Forever's launch next week).

Essentially, Battle.net's storefront has a hidden design flaw: their subscription bundles (with their various mounts, pets, transmogs, etc.) are ineligible to be paid for using your Battle.net account balance and, intentionally or not, their subscription page provides you zero warning about this... as I only discovered this upon arriving at their final checkout screen...

Therein lies the predicament I now find myself in... I purchased $170 in Battle.net currency via Amazon because I happened to have a Prime Visa (thus enabling me to get 5% cashback instead of 3) and some accrued rewards dollars to spend and, by doing so, thought I could somewhat mitigate the cost of committing a year-in-advance to WoW: Forever (that I had already pre-purchased via the Warcraft Forever Bundle). When their system shockingly (at least to me) prevented me from doing this, I opened a ticket requesting that billing manually deduct the funds from my balance and then grant me the 12-month bundle, and above is the response I got...

In short, the GM told me that their system won't allow them to do this and their recommendation was to pay another $170 using a "valid recurring payment method" to get the bundle and to just leave my initial $170 sitting in my Battle.net wallet "for future purchases down the road."

My response (also above) was that I've been a sub, and Battle.net customer, for over 20 years and that telling a customer to casually float over $320 out of pocket because your automated storefront lacks basic structural transparency is ridiculous and that other platforms, like Xbox or PlayStation, let you fund recurring subscriptions via your digital wallet.

I've now requested a manual override to deduct the cost of the bundle from my account balance or to use that money to refund my credit card if forced to go that route.

TL;DR: Do NOT buy Battle.net currency if your intent is to then purchase a subscription bundle with it. Blizzard will take your money, lock it in your wallet, and then tell you to swipe your credit card again...

Question Skyborne Racial Change

The updated racial is somewhat unclear to me. The recent blue post reads:

  • Read Leyline now increases Mana and Health regeneration by 50% (was 100%), with a 15-second duration. This ability cannot be used while Innervate is active, and will be replaced by Innervate as a more powerful effect.
  • Using Read Leyline at a Ley Line now also grants “Attuned” for 1 hour. While Attuned, the benefit of Read Leyline is increased to 100% regeneration increase. Attuned persists through death.

How do you interpret this?

I am quite certain it is not telling us the 100% buff lasts for an hour (that would obviously be way too broken). I believe what they are telling us is that being attuned gives no regeneration buff on it's own, it just makes the active twice as effective for the normal duration of 15 seconds, and the 15 minute duration got cut.

EDIT: I think it's worth pointing out - I missed this, but it specifically says also grants "attuned". That also implies to me that it still gives the 15 minute buff, but I could be wrong!

Discussion Blizzard should really have started and ended with "what is X race fantasy?"

So many back and forth so many changes that generate frustration because they aren't from a design decision but feedback. Making you think you win/lose based on how vocal you are or not.

They should have just set in stone what is the race fantasy of each race, made a set of racial and ended it there with number balance at best.

But this BS of adding crit, removing crit, adding hit change to one race but removing it to another... Wtf are you guys doing ?!

Are orc hunter and warlock only now ? How come their racial are pet specific ?

Especially when, if you had one word to describe an orc.. it would be savage. (Litteraly how Thrall education was defined)

Hit chance for dwarf ... With a name completely out of left field that would imply more damage (crit) (because hit chance is more about skill) but that's what you've just removed .

I literally can't see what is those race's fantasy now.

HYPE! It’s just a game, but sometimes we forget why we logged in

Hey everyone,

With the beta over and a taste of what we’re in store for, we’re already seeing the familiar cycle of people burning themselves out in game. It’s so easy to get tied up in ratings, gear scores, and chasing that next title or rank like it’s going to validate something deeper.

Weve all been there. I remember spending almost two months grinding arenas until my hands cramped, chasing gladiator, convinced that once I hit it, that persistent feeling of falling behind in life would finally quiet down.

When I finally crossed the finish line and got glad, I was ecstatic! I finally did it! After years of wanting to hit it, I finally made it.

Then the season reset, and the emptiness slowly crept right back in. What to do next to fill this void? “What should I make my next goal?”

It’s like a woodworker spending years carving a bird sculpture to impress a town square full of strangers, only to realize the people clapping don't actually care about him. they just like the bird. Meanwhile, he forgot that a simple toy whittled out of scrap wood for his own kid carried a hundred times more real world value than any applause in the square.

TLDR:

It’s easy to let games become a second job where we measure our worth in achievements and parse numbers. But getting the next AotC, Gladiator, Grand Marshal, or farming every piece f pixelated gear you can find is not going to fix things outside of Azeroth, and your real life value doesn't drop just because you're stuck or taking a break.

You’re already good enough outside of this game, exactly as you are. Don't let the grind trick you into thinking your life only has value when a number goes up.

Take care of yourselves out there.

EDIT: wow you guys are roasting me for being soft. Sorry for being vulnerable online lol. That’s my own fault

Discussion The really hard choice: What language to pick

I struggle to decide which language to play Wow forever on, as I understood, the players you meet on the road are based on your choice of language.

I live in Germany, a couple of friends play in german.

My whole life (besides my job) is basically in English, I know all WoW terms in english and I feel the community is more active and resourceful in english. I would love to meet some friends from germany on the road though and maybe meet the same people that they meet along the road.

Anyone else with this problem?

How will you decide in the end?

Question Will the Devilsaur Mafia be more annoying on a PvE server or a PvP server?

I just saw the most recent Bellular Warcraft video and he reminded me of something that sucked from classic: The Devilsaur Mafia

I don't want to argue about whether it is going to exist or not in WOWForever; for the sake of argument lets say that it will. If it exists as it did in classic would the mafia be worse on a PvE server or a PvP server?

I haven't made my decision yet if I am going to PvE or PvP which is why I am curious as to the answer of this question.

Addons, Apps and Websites I made a First / Last Name Generator if anyone's interested.

I made a first and last name generator for WoW Forever if anyone is interested.

Pick your faction, add an optional theme, race, or class flavor, and it gives you a list of name ideas.

https://everythingwow.com/tools/name-generator?faction=&race=&theme=&class=&shape=forever

I'll add the name checker to Forever once the API is released.

Discussion Can we talk about addons? Which will you be using? Why?

Hi All,

I haven’t seen many discussions about this yet - but, while we wait, I’d love it if we could discuss what addons we’re all considering using for WoW Forever.

Also, let’s go ahead and say any addon is fine - whether it’s vibe coded or manually coded. I get the merits of both. Let’s please not turn this into that kind of discussion. Rather, let’s talk about what we enjoyed using during beta or what we plan on using, and why.

I’ll go first (note - I’m out of touch on what’s the best addon, if there are ones you feel are better, please feel free to make a comment sharing what you prefer):

AIVoiceOver or ForeverVO: Personally, I really enjoyed the ai voice addon for quests. While it isn’t perfect, and I wish some of the voices had more flair, it was so so so much better for me than reading the quest. It made the game feel more immersive for me. It was also neat that most (maybe all?) of the quest npc’s seemed to keep their same voice every time you went to them. This experience was new to me - I haven’t played retail or classic in a few years, so, for me, quest dialog like this was a first.

ForeverRares: As a Hunter main, this is just fantastic. It blares at you when you come across a rare mob. For taming pets, I feel this is a must. But, even for just questing it was fun to know when I came across a rare mob. I got some fun drops and it felt special coming across them. I wish the addon also placed an icon above their head and pinged the map or placed a flag on the mini-map for where they were, but, still, it’s nice.

Auctionator: I always like an auction house addon watching the overall pricing and scanning the market. It’s nice when questing as you know which items are worth what to keep. I’m not sure if this is the best one, but it’s one I found and worked.

Forever LayerHop (no longer functions): I think they disabled this one, but it is a nice idea to hop layers - especially when looking for rare mobs. I get why this would be a problem though. So, I understand it. Joining parties also lets you hop layers sometimes. There may be a better solution for this once Forever is out.

And that’s all the addons I was using. I’m sure I’m missing a ton. I don’t know if I will need a heal addon or not (didn’t get a chance to try the in-game options). I’m sure there’s so so so many I just don’t know about. I’d love to hear what you’ve decided to use and why.

Cheers. See you in Azeroth.

Discussion Night Elf Shaman - Lore connection to Furbolgs

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Why is it that there are no Night Elf Shaman in the game/lore with their deep connection to uncorrupted Furbolgs and nature itself. While they may draw their power from Elune, something like this seems almost obvious imho.
