Question Code name assistance.

I'm writing some fanfic, and I had an odd thought occur to me: Dazzler is one of very few characters to pursue a day job as a pop star, and now I wanna make a clown X-Man. I just need a codename.

I already have a character named Noodles, he just kinda picked a name randomly. So a silly name is there. But I'd like some help with his mutant name. Any and all thoughts appreciated.

I do know that the hairstyle she mostly has is different from the one i have drawn here tbh it was just hard to figure out how to make the short haircut she usually has for some reason. Other than that I have tried my best to stay true to her design elements.

Comic Discussion Should Mutants be considered a separate species?

In my opinion no absolutely not especially if you want Mutants to represent any form of minority. I believe the mutant metaphor can work and can serve as a good message about how even if you’re different you still have value but by actively saying that Mutants aren’t human I feel is actually paints an incredibly harmful message instead as it implies that no one who is different can ever be considered human. The only people who should believe that Mutants aren’t humans in the comics should be the Mutant haters like Trask or Stryker or Mutant Supremacists like Magneto.

Comic Discussion As a firestar fan I have some mixed feelings about this on how insulting it is Spoiler

Post image

https://www.reddit.com/r/xmen/comments/1x9g3hm/as_a_fire_star_fan_not_only_is_maximum_x_men_a/ In my previous firestar post I made it clear that I did not enjoy Angelica arc during the Krakoa era mostly because of the comic treated the bullying as right and deserved but then I remember that the first issue isn’t even out yet and yost has proven in the past that he’s a very very competent writer his x23 run shows that however I do like to know in what world is Angelica a washout? everything she did during her time in the new warriors and avengers show that she isn’t and if the comic implies that she’s a washout for prioritizing her mental health after Jean couldn’t be bothered to clear her name after the fall of x when she came back then that fucking disgusting and the x men fans who think that should be ashamed for even believing that Angelica deserves the cruelty she got during that era because and if any of the members tried to lecture her despite the fact that they have bodies hiding in their closet im dropping the x men lines but like I said im giving yost the benefit of the doubt

So it seems ALL of the X-Men doomsday cast survive atleast up until the incursion, and return in secret wars. Surprising how none of them die permanently if said news is true.

Question “Time” for an explanation

Post image
0 Upvotes

So I recently saw this comic book panel on this site and noticed the years on the banner were 1972-1973, yet it’s 2026 and Xavier still looks like a young Yul Brynner (I’m old, look him up kids), and Storm looks like a young Naomi Campbell. Now I know they don’t have Wolverine’s healing factor so how does (or did) Marvel explain aging/the passage of time at least in the 616 universe? I heard about “Marvel time” but that was as vague as an early issue of Generation X. Maybe it’s Celestials? Maybe it’s Maybelline? Any ideas? Thank you for reading.

Movie/TV Discussion What If Spider-Man 5 is Where The MCU Finally Unleashes the New Wolverine?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Peter helped develop the inhibitor chip, technology that could suppress mutant powers. When he discovers mutants are being hunted using technology he helped create, he feels responsible and teams up with Jean Grey and another mutant, someone like Iceman, to help.
Their mission leads them to Wolverine, an isolated mutant being hunted by an anti-mutant operation. Could Damage Control be deploying inhibitor technology to capture mutants, with Norman Osborn secretly funding the operation? Alternatively, Osborn and Damage Control could be pursuing their own agendas, with Peter caught between them. Jean tries to reach Logan before his rage turns the rescue into a bloodbath.
This gives Wolverine a high-stakes MCU introduction outside the X-Men movie, connecting him to Spider-Man and the emerging mutant storyline before his eventual team-up while also introducing Osborn to the MCU.
Marvel could use Spider-Man to introduce its most unpredictable mutant, expose a new threat behind the anti-mutant movement, and lay the groundwork for the Osborn/Spider-Man battle we all want.

Movie/TV Discussion Did alpha flight in xmen 92 give anyone else the ick?

I don’t mean the plot - because obviously that was plenty icky. I meant the characters themselves.

I’ve been slowly expanding my marvel consumption and it was the first time I’d come across them. I had heard of North Star in passing - but not alpha flight.

And listen- I know they’re are more pressing issues in the world and this is so so unimportant

As a Canadian I’m used to certain depictions in media. And I don’t generally care. That said - alpha flight felt almost like the they were trying to be the most offensive Canadian charicatures they could be

Again this is the show - I’ve seen people prefer the comics of them when I check reviews.

And I struggle to see anyone else bring up much about that episode besides the plot. So I’m curious - first of all when it came out did people give a shit at all? And also does anyone else give a shit currently? Again - in the grand scheme of life- very unimportant. Still gave me the ick

Comic Discussion I hate the way Mister Sinister was retconned.

Before the Krakoa era, he was a more relatable character; he had lost his child, and that loss drove him to become a monstrous scientist. He was stripped of all his emotions—a choice I personally detest, as it was Adam and his wife, Rebecca, who truly shaped him into Sinister. Since that aspect was barely touched upon, Stasis actually felt more like the original Essex. Regardless, the revelation that the Nathaniel Essex we’d been reading about for years was merely a clone—and that the "real" one had been dead all along—felt incredibly strange. In my opinion, there was no need to introduce three additional clones or dive into the whole "Dominion" storyline and everything that came with it.

Comic Discussion A Touch of Evil

Was listening to Judas Priest’s Painkiller album and I got to the song “A Touch of Evil” and it reminded me so much of Dark Phoenix it was insane. The song is metal but it has such a smooth touch to it that i feel like it matched how the Phoenix force should feel. Plus the themes of the song matched Jean’s corruption so well. There’s so many lyrics that match that if I put them here it’d just be paraphrasing the song so i wont really bother with it. One that stood out to me was the hook felt exactly like how the Phoenix Force corrupted Jean in the comics pre retcon. Another part of the song that really stood out to me was towards the end when Rob Halford was straining his voice with his lyrics of “You’re possessing me”. I am aware the Phoenix isnt inherently evil but it did prey on Jean’s insecurities hence how she became Dark Phoenix. I have never watched the 92 show beyond a few episodes but idk this did kinda capture the same vibe from it. This does make sense to me as both came out in the early 90s and would probably overlap with their tones.

Here’s the song if anyone wants to listen to get what I mean: https://youtu.be/br5S1Pwl3qQ?si=6Op5hbytJ7ncYmnA

Movie/TV Discussion Where do you stand on 'the mutant debate'?

As fans, obviously we love the X-men and mutants in general, and seeing the way they're ostracized and hunted is heartbreaking. We know they're real people deserving of love, freedom and respect, and we cheer them on as they fight for liberation.

That said, everything the humans are worried about in this world is absolutely true. How can you have a society when some people "can move mountains with their minds", can walk through walls, or can take over your thoughts and control your movements? How do you defend against a threat that innately has more power in their pinky finger than most militias or armies do in their whole ranks?

And once again, they are indeed people. Meaning that some of them will inevitably be malicious, cruel, narcissistic, murderous, psychopathic or even just psychotic and therefore unpredictable. What do you do when mutants - feeling rejected and traumatized - turn to drugs and alcohol? Have you ever seen cops try to take down a meth addict? Now, what about a meth addict who can shoot optic blasts out of his eyes or create a fire tsunami at will?

So, when the issue comes up for debate: mutant registration. Maybe even mutant extermination. Where do you think you'd really stand? Would you fight for freedom and equality? Or would the idea of a woman who can walk into your house, wearing your partner's skin and voice like a costume, scare you enough to become the villain?

Comic Discussion One Simple Question Regarding Forge

How exactly is he not famous on the same level as Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, or Magneto?

If I'm reading what he can do right...he was nutso with the gusto /before/ he performed a science project on himself, bumping him from Alpha to Omega.

The man can /intuietivly/ build /any/ kind of technology he can /IMAGINE/!? Am I the only one who sees the absolute lunacy possible with /that/ ability alone?

But wait, there's more.

Thanks to his background and upbringing, he not only CAN wield mystic power, he has a high level of natural talent in doing so, hamstrung by what I can only describe as "Gohan Syndrome."

And then his upgrade. Combining them both.

If the page I read is correct, I find it hard to imagine a single cooler display of upgraded power than Forge, in freefall from losing ANOTHER blackbird, used pieces of the destroyed aircraft, without ever touching them, to build an exoskeleton around himself to survive the fall.

I..../what/?

The closest thing the man has to a drawback is he often can't explain his own hardware. Which could..theoritically....be dangerous as all hell. Because what's NEVER discussed is how his mutation decides to accommodate a particular imagined idea.

What if he thinks "Infinite Energy Device" and his mutation goes:
"Got it. Argent Energy, coming right up."

What does he do with his free time, design more and more sophisticated Rubix Cubes? How does Earth-616 exist outside the concept of /post-scarcity/ when this guy can IMAGINE a Star Trek replicator, and he proceeds to build it with all the same effort you or I expend hearing or seeing?

Question Should i read New Mutants?

• Upvotes

So i started reading comics for the first the first time and started with x men.

I started with Issue 1 and followed what the x man reading order site and gemini suggested, mostly the core stories but also some fluff like hidden ones etc, along with some tie ins like avengers 48, 53 etc and also annuals, Team ups etc. Im up to hellfire club now.

Looking ahead i see New Mutants. Is that something necessary? gemini says its not... But the site lists it.
