Plugin/Tool I created a P3/P4 Ocellus Sim in Unity that has multiplayer support.
Hello everyone!
Me and my colleague Claude built a simulation of the P3/P4 fight of Ocellus for OSRS in a new custom unity project that supports multiplayer. Check out the video above.
There are many sims, but this one is mine. It allows custom gear setups, custom flags to disable mechanics that hurt learning (turn off void bind if soloing), and most importantly can support other player(s).
It plays extremely similar to the original game, and in my opinion, feels closest to 1-1 parity versus other sims due to the game engine involved over the javascript creations online (which are fantastic by the way).
I had some questions and am asking for some feedback as well.
Is this sort of thing considered okay by Jagex? There are other sims online for other bosses.
AI allows this sort of thing to be built in record time (built in a single day), this means it can be recreated for all content going forward, does Jagex see this as a problem? For the record this project is not to be distributed for the means of profit and of course, is a private training tool, which is labelled in the application.
Does this sort of thing interest people? Using this tool you can test your skills against Ocellus as if you had the gear and time to actually get to the fight itself if your account is not yet progressed to that point. I wonder if this sort of thing would give players confidence to think "Hey this is totally doable, we should try the raid!".
Multiplayer support runs on Unitys Multiplayer Architecture, nothing custom really, so ideally its quite safe.
I would not release the project to anyone without open sourcing the repository online. Main reason being it gives power to the users to feel comfortable looking through to identify that the project is safe. It would be easy to have your own agent go through the project.
I'll stop rambling. Let me know what you think or have any questions!
EDIT:
Hey everyone sorry for the absence. Unfortunately, the message is loud and clear based on feedback and messages received. I don't think its responsible releasing this tool.
I am not comfortable hosting this tool myself, its completely forbidden by Jagex to do so and isnt wanted.
If I were to give access to the unity build, The only responsible way for security for the users is to also release the repository, due to the fact that its an actual .EXE file, which is completely irresponsible. The repository has everything you would need to do things like:
Completely recreate awakened bosses in little time
Create new content for existing content in the game
Create tools that allow practice in areas like Theatre of blood with full room selection
I believe that a training tool for a new existing boss is probably in the grey area, but realistically, especially the awakened boss example, could have a legitimate effect on the in game economy in any small way, in which I wouldn't be comfortable being responsible for and opening the flood gates to. Apologies for getting anyones hopes up, genuinely I know it was a dick head move.
It sucks putting in work even for a short time and utilizing coding agents to get something working like this and not release it. Genuinely this version of OSRS simulation feels the most like the game than any other I have tried. If any J mods disagree with my stance for some reason and feel as though they don't think its a big deal I am open to discussion; otherwise I think its too harmful, again I apologize.
The good news is that the practice tool is out next week and if you have seen ocellus even once you will get the chance to practice there. There are P4 sims out there, if you can do P4 you can do P3 no question. Good luck with the completions.
