Discussion Ever bought an indie game because the screenshots looked cool and then spent 2 hours in the settings?

• Upvotes

Sometimes I spend more time messing with settings than actually playing the game 😭

Changing the resolution, trying different graphics options, rebinding keys, checking if my controller works, then suddenly I'm watching a YouTube video to figure out why the game stutters on my PC.

By the time everything finally works, I'm either too tired to play or I've somehow convinced myself to try another game instead.

Indie games are great, but some of them definitely make you work a little before you can just sit down and enjoy them.

Upcoming Got a little carried away in making a card battler and ended up with a grand strategy game with some RTS elements, now to hunt mythical creatures!

I'll try to keep it short and sweet: it's a strategy card game where you battle with chess-like mechanics and animated sprites/troops. There's a whole story mode with a campaign map as well. Add it to your wishlist if you're interested or if anyone wants to beta test dm me, and I can give you a key to try it out!

With a sandbox setting and outer space-like physics applied to the cat and the cat alone, this game also features every cat owner’s worst nightmare; a cat with a gun. Full game out in December! Demo is out on Steam. Thank you for letting us play your game, u/MorphLand !

Upcoming Scraplings, my cozy factory game on an endless sea of trash, launches into Early Access on November 5!

Hi everyone! After a long stretch of building, shredding and recycling, we finally have a date: Scraplings launches into Early Access on November 5, 2026.

Scraplings is a cozy, side-view factory and trade game. You build your factory in layers on top of an endless sea of trash. Belts, elevators and tunnels move everything around, and bulky waste slowly turns into something useful.

We're a small indie studio and this is our first game. We'll keep building it together with our players during Early Access, so feedback means a lot to us.

If it looks like your kind of game, a wishlist helps us a ton:

Happy to answer any questions in the comments!

Upcoming [PC] HEAVY SLEEPER – We made a chaotic 4-player co-op game where you must transport a sleeping Troll. Our FREE demo is live!

Game Title: HEAVY SLEEPER

Playable Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5138070/HEAVY_SLEEPER_Demo/

Platform: PC (Steam / Windows)

Description:

HEAVY SLEEPER is a chaotic 1–4 player co-op adventure where you and your friends have one simple mission: transport a giant sleeping Troll through dangerous roads without waking him up!

Sounds easy? Think again!

You'll need to work together to drive an unpredictable vehicle, manage its condition, navigate challenging terrain, and keep the Troll asleep throughout your journey.

But there's a catch. Noisy goblins, unexpected obstacles, mechanical failures, and your own teammates can turn a peaceful delivery into absolute chaos!

Every bump, crash, and careless decision could wake the Troll. And when he wakes up, things get seriously dangerous. He can destroy your vehicle and chase your entire team!

Teamwork, communication, and a little bit of luck are essential to survival.

We're developing HEAVY SLEEPER with a focus on hilarious multiplayer moments, unpredictable physics, and memorable adventures with friends.

Our free playable demo is now available on Steam, and we'd love to hear your feedback!

Free to Play Status:

  • Free to play
  • Demo/Key available
  • Paid

Involvement:

I'm the founder of Kaznos Studio, the independent game development studio behind HEAVY SLEEPER. Our team is actively developing the game, and I'm directly involved in its production, development decisions, and marketing. We're sharing our playable demo to gather honest feedback from players and improve the experience before the full release.

Promotion Trails of Suebia, my little RTS with dynamic weather and a day and night cycle

Thumbnail

Hey there! I'm making Trails of Suebia, a base-building RTS and a work of fiction inspired by history. It's just me, for 3 years now (and one move from Unity to Godot).

You build up your town like in a castle sim and then have to defend it. Day and night run through the whole match, wolves go for your villagers at night, and the weather keeps changing.

There's a small tech demo below if you want to try it. It's mostly to test the core loop, an update is coming soon, and the real demo will come to Steam later. Next I'm working on the reveal trailer, which is a big one lol

What makes you click on a strategy game trailer? Gameplay right away, or some atmosphere first?

Video I added a new upgrade called "Backseat Engineering" to my game. Its creation was fueled by my hate for people standing over me and commenting my work.

The upgrade allows you to assign one of your Engineers to Crafting Station. Normally he will just craft random available resource packs while going on an occasional break. But if you take over from him, he will increase your manual crafting yields... at a certain cost.

The game is Coup de Grass - demo is available on Steam and Itch!

Promotion I made my first game — a free .io tractor battle you can play in the browser

Hi everyone! This is my very first game, and I'd love to hear how it looks to someone other than me.

Agrario: Farmers' Battle is a free multiplayer .io game. You're a farmer on a tractor: leave your field, plow a trail, and when you get back everything inside the loop becomes your land. Cross a rival's trail and they're out of the round — but they can do the same to you, so don't get too greedy :)

It runs in the browser on phones and computers, no download or sign-up. You can also invite friends with a link and play together.

It's in early access and I'm improving it almost every day. I'm especially curious:
- is it clear what to do from the first round?
- do the controls feel OK on a phone?
- do you want to play "just one more"?

If you try a couple of rounds and tell me what you think — even if you didn't like something — that would mean a lot. Thank you!

Promotion Timelapse of the world of "Hired Yet?" | Early Access

Hi guys, I'm a part of SH games, a small indie game developer group of 3 members. We've recently released "Hired Yet" for early access (closed beta), if you want to check it out follow this link : https://hiredyet-rouge.vercel.app/

Join our discord to stay up to date : https://discord.gg/8CfBvbGhQ

AI usage : GenAI has been used for part of the coding and player animations, as well as for window textures.

Game theme : Life Simulation

What our game is about : You apply as a job applicant while starting a new save file, and you spawn in the open world showcased in the video. There are several events in the open world that you can complete to get items like reference letter, business card, other people's resumes, etc., which will help you during the hiring process. All the events are optional, and your main goal is to reach the office building in the city, and appear for the interview. During the interview, you can talk to the interviewer, and proceed with the interview questions (based on the job you selected during save file creation). The interviewer has a suspicion meter, which changes based upon your answers, so a correct answer may lower their suspicion, while a wrong answer will increase it. The meter also increases if you present another person's resume, or any other such suspicious documents. In the end of the interview, you get to see the result whether you got hired or not, and receive a grade based on your performance.

The video only showcases the open world of the game, actual game showcase will be released upon open beta release after the android version is complete.

Promotion Mimic2 - Idle MMORPG is coming to Steam on October, 28 with a fresh server

Hey folks,

It was 2 months ago when I first posted about the Mimic2 in this subreddit and had my very first players from here. Now after many feedbacks about the game, couple of rewrites of the entire UI and some of the systems it is now coming to Steam on October, 28th.

Mimic2 is a cross-platform idle incremental MMORPG where you start with thousands of damage and reach to sextillions of damage over the 9 maps and 35 difficulties. It is an idler game where you only kill bosses every couple of hours when they respawn, so the main gameplay is in optimizing the upgrade paths and deciding among 15 different bonus types.

Here are some of the features:

Equipment

95 different item slots, all of them upgradable, with 7,515 total item levels

  • 8 gear sets of 10 pieces; Helmet, Armor, Necklace, Earrings, Weapon, Gloves, Belt, Shield, Bracelet and Boots
  • 3 soul item chains (Dream, Sky, Celestial), 41 levels each
  • 17 skin sets, 102 pieces in total, plus 35 skin boosters that can be upgraded to 5 tiers
  • 6 element talismans up to level 201 each with an additional combined Elemental Talisman
  • 6 stars, 6 seal items, 12 emblems, 6 ancient arts
  • 3 permanent rings that can be leveled up to 100, 27 temporary rings in 6 families
  • 5 shinings, 5 essences, 5 relic items

The RNG Systems

  • Enchanter: 33 different enchant stones usable on 38 equippable item categories to add extra bonuses. You reroll until you get the bonus you want.
  • Runesmith: Craft, upgrade and socket runes, gems and evolutions into your gear pieces for extra damage.
  • Alchemy: 7 stone categories, 5 grades, 5 purification tiers: 980 different stones with random bonuses, so it is a long grind until you get the best ones.
  • Tailor: one item, the Warrior Sash, 600 levels. The deepest ladder in the game. It absorbs a weapon and scales with it: the stronger the weapon, the stronger the bonuses, but the weapon is destroyed in the process.
  • Transmutator: 310 recipes. Maxed gear converts to the next set and you climb a ladder of equippable item sets. Spare materials convert to rings, stars and enchant materials.
  • Upgrade chance: the highest upgrade levels drop to a 20% chance, so you will be pulling your hair out trying to upgrade.

Other Upgradable Mechanics

  • Shaman Buffi: a shaman companion who grants a 12 hours buff and has to be charged first
  • Tranky the baby dragon: your pet dragon with its own skills and RNG mechanics
  • Mount: can be leveled up to 250 levels, an RNG type roll and enchant mechanic
  • Quests: 832 kill and item quests in 10 different categories
  • Skills: 1 active air sword skill and 9 passive skills

The game is completely free-to-play and cross platform so you can start playing on Steam in your PC and continue playing on your phone when you go out.
