Third most injured team last season - 9 players available at the moment, after three games of the season. THIS SUCKS!

The Dub injury is extremely catastrophic for the OKC, pretty much elimitate them as real contenders. And if Wallace is injured long term, things will become extremely rough just to stay relevant for the season.

Gonna suck today, and for a long time.
Just hope the guys are okay and will have a good injury process and come back stronger

Jalen Williams, J-Dub - Season ending
Cason Wallace - Can be short term, can be season ending
Jaylin Williams, J-Will - Wrist, unkown length
Topic - Back, Unkown
Sorber - Knee, Unknown

Oweh - Season ending(Waived)

Does the NBA have an Injury Problem?

The following is a list of injuries that have occurred during the offseason, preseason, and 2-3 games into the season:

Team Injured Players
Atlanta Hawks Mo Gueye (fractured foot, preseason)
Charlotte Hornets Kon Knueppel (hamstring, preseason)Coby White (calf strain, preseason)Grant Williams (hamstring, preseason)
Chicago Bulls Nic Claxton (hamstring, preseason)
Dallas Mavericks Cooper Flagg (shoulder strain)
Denver Nuggets Spencer Jones (hamstring)Julian Strawther (knee sprain)
Detroit Pistons Jalen Duren (hamstring)
Houston Rockets Steven Adams (calf strain, though potentially not long-term)
Indiana Pacers Ivica Zubac (ankle sprain, potentially not long term) TJ MCConnell (hamstring, preseason) Ben Sheppard (torn meniscus)
LA Clippers Bradley Beal (knee injury, offseason)Max Strus (torn plantar fascia, preseason)Brandon Ingram (partially torn achilles, offseason)
Oklahoma City Thunder Jalen Williams (broken ankle?)Cason Wallace (shoulder strain)
Orlando Magic Paolo Banchero (ankle sprain) Jalen Suggs (knee tear?)
Philadelphia 76ers Ariel Hukporti (torn achilles, preseason)Dominick Barlow (back, preseason)
Phoenix Suns Mark Williams (shoulder, preseason)
Portland Trailblazers Shaedon Sharpe (torn meniscus, offseason)
Sacramento Kings Ben Simmons (achilles, preseason)Dylan Cardwell (calf strain, preseason)Maxime Raynaud (knee, preseason)
San Antonio Spurs Tobias Harris (calf strain, preseason) Jayden Quaintance (knee, college)
Utah Jazz Jusuf Nurkic (toe)
Washington Wizards AJ Dybantsa (ankle, potentially not long term)Jamir Watkins (ACL tear, offseason)

I tried focusing on players whose absence would have a noticeable impact on their team (>20 mins played, or otherwise useful in their role). I also didn't include players who were injured during last season, but if I did then this list would expand significantly (Jimmy, Dereck Lively, Donte, etc.).

A couple of observations I made:

  • A lot of injuries only 2-3 games into the season
  • A lot of injuries occur during the preseason/offseason
  • A lot of soft tissue injuries, particularly of hamstrings and calves

I think the NBA has an injury problem, and it significantly hampers the quality of the product. Something needs to be done, but it seems that the league hasn't acknowledged this as a point of concern. Would love to hear everybody's thoughts

Jalen Williams is in the first year of a 5-year, $239,193,450 fully guaranteed contract with the thunder, with an annual average salary of $47,838,690

Jalen Williams is in the first year of a 5-year, $239,193,450 fully guaranteed contract with the thunder, with an annual average salary of $47,838,690.

Should the thunder explore trade options for him in hopes of their title contention or should they keep him as an asset for one year and hope he hasn't declined very much when he returns?

Jalen Williams injury being reported a significant ankle injury?

Jalen Williams injury being reported a significant ankle injury? So this isn’t a leg break like Paul George and Hayward? I just saw a report from Justin Russo stating it’s an ankle injury? If that’s the case it’s similar to the chiefs wide receiver injury against the raiders?

Could Cade win mvp this year?

Obviously the race is going to be very tight with a lot of candidates but I think in the modern nba, winning plays a BIG role in your mvp case. This piston team looks good, could be a one seed again. I don’t think Cade stat line will be too special, perhaps something like 25/5/9 but if the pistons get 60 wins again, I could see Cade winning mvp

Best advice to get into watching basketball

Ok so I recently gained some interest in basketball and I want to watch the game more and understand the ins and outs of it, I’ve been watching some matches here and there but I don’t really know what a great game vs a very avg game looks like.
Would people have any suggestions on teams I should follow and try catch the games of, also any suggestions on how to catch up with the rules and understand more than just the base level game. Help much appreciated.

Boston Celtics announcer Brian Scalabrine says Brown demanded a Trade so he”s confused on why he’s mad at Tatum

It’s obvious 'Mr. Spray Paint Head' is mad he’s not as valuable as he thought he was. 🤷🏿‍♂️ I guess T-Mac throwing shots at Tatum as soon as he returned was really Jaylen Brown speaking through him.

Brown is mad he’s never been seen as better than Tatum—except when it’s time for fans and the media to hate on Tatum. That’s the only time Brown was ever considered a great player. The year he won Finals MVP, he didn't even make All-NBA. He’s literally a two-time All-NBA player, but you would’ve thought he was a consistent All-NBA guy the way people have been gassing him up. For some reason, a lot of fans seem to think Jaylen Brown’s whole career is just three playoff series.

Is it weird to like 3 teams?

I’m a Pelicans fan. I’m from around New Orleans and always have been a fan. Unfortunately we’ve had a rough few years but I’ve stayed loyal

I live near Memphis now and most of the games I can go to now are Grizzlies games. I enjoy the team. Everyone near me likes the grizzlies.

I also like OKC and the players. They’re the most fun for me to watch out of the 3. But again I’m a Pelicans fan so I only cheer for them when they aren’t playing us. If it’s a game between Grizzlies and OKC then I go for whoever’s players I like more that season.

So I’m wondering if it’s weird that I’m like this. I think I just like rooting for the small market teams closest to me. I have jerseys for all the teams. I have hats, socks, shirts, hoodies and other merch. I wear them all in public. I like them all, but I’m a Pelicans fan first and I let people know that when they ask

Do you think that’s weird? Does anyone else do that? I just love the game tbh. And when the Pelicans suck it’s nice that at least 1 of the others are decent and fun to watch

Despite these injuries to OKC, they still have the 2nd best championship odds

• Upvotes

I keep seeing everyone dooming about OKC, but they still have the second best championship odds via Vegas.

This team has a historically good bench, even without JDub and Wallace. They kill teams with Shai sits, even in the playoffs (OKC has been better without Shai in the playoff for three straight years). They are truly a team of generational depth and still have a superstar (Shai), an all nba player (Chet), three god-tier role players (Mitchell, Hartenstein, and Caruso), and plenty of other depth and high-caliber young players.

Obviously these injuries hurt their ceiling, but they’re still a Tier 1 contender with the Spurs.

Videos not showing up for anyone?

Not sure what's going on, but ever since the start of the season, video posts do not show up at all in this sub for me. The only way I am able to view video posts (ex. any post with a streamable link) is by manually searching the sub for posts with the "Highlight" flair, or by randomly coming across it on r/all. I primarily use old reddit but when I revert to new reddit nothing shows up. Weirdly when I log out then I am able to see all the videos, so I don't think it's an adblocker causing the issues.

It's also specific to this sub for me; I can see all the streamable links perfectly fine on r/formula1.

Anyone else having this problem?

Is there a reason the J-Dub injury video isn't posted in this sub?

I can see Jalen Suggs injury and a bunch of the reaction videos and the Dr explains video but I don't see an actual clip of the injury. Is there a reason it's not posted here or is there something wrong with my account/preferences? I'm using old.reddit.com

From the mods: It got removed by automod last night (posts that get enough reports are removed automatically) and none of us noticed because most of us are America-based. It’s been restored.

NBA/Sports Betting

These professional leagues have turned in to absolute shit since betting/gambling has taken over. Adam Silver needs removed! Solely focused on enriching his own. F him! I was just looking up a preview of a basketball game the other day and all I find in every single video is who I should put money on in each game. Can I watch one video that isn’t talking about betting and instead just focused on the game, players, adjustments, skills, etc.?

Kris Dunn in the 1st half on the road in OKC: 11 points on 112.7% TS, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks

The much maligned Clippers look to over .500 against the juggernaut Thunder. Kris Dunn goes 4/4 FG, 1/1 3PT, 2/2 FT in the first half. Clippers lead 46-43

Finish the sentence: Lamelo and Ant are the most fun new duo to watch since ________

it helps the entire team is playing incredibly but purely from an on the court product perspective, these are two of the most fun players to watch in basketball Since their careers started, and they’ve been fun together.

AD and LeBron that first year were actually pretty fun to watch imo with LeBron being like modern nba Magic Johnson. The early lob city pair up with Blake and cp3 also comes to mind. Idk if kd to the warriors really counts as a duo but the bball product was good.

Idk, I’m overreacting a bit probably but at least this is about basketball being fun.

If Thunder gets 60 wins, Shai better 3 peat mvp. This is like the equivalent of Jokic losing Jamal Murray and Gordon and Knicks losing Kat. The mvp is shais if they finish top seed or there about.

🇸🇮6’8 Guard, Stefan Joksimovic for Baskonia vs. Valencia in R4 of ACB: - 10 points - 4 rebounds - 4 assists - 32 minutes The 17yo lefty guard was efficient driving downhill and attacking closeouts. His confidence with the ball at PRO level is a major improvement for the young player.

Joksimovic created a huge advantage with good kick-out passes and quick transition play from defense to offense.

Stefan has delivered two strong games in the last three days against top EL teams (PAO & Valencia). His role is rapidly growing as he earns more and more trust from coach Perasovic.
